  1. >The next morning, you awake somewhat grumpy
  2. >Those two bickering fucks messed with your sleep cycle
  3. >Still, that should ruin what happened yesterday
  4. >For the first time, you really felt like you belonged in the group
  5. >Even if it was during a stupid song-and-dance number
  6. >'Only through the elimination of violence can we achieve world peace'
  7. >That movie might be your new Samurai Cop
  8. >Anyways, looking around, it seems like you were the last one to wake
  9. >Most of the girls are sitting around, chatting lowly
  10. "Hey guys."
  11. >"Good morning, Miss Sparkle."
  12. >"Mornin', Egghead."
  13. >Pinkie Pie stretches out and gives a big yawn
  14. >Fluttershy is just huddled into herself
  15. >You sit up from your bag and spot Rarity and Applejack sitting up on the bag
  16. >They look like they've seen a fucking ghost
  17. >Rarity turns to you and grimaces
  18. >What the fuck is that supposed to mean?
  19. >Rainbow Dash hops up onto her feet
  20. >"Who's hungry?"
  21. >You and the rest of the girls raise your hands
  22. >"Sick, I'll go make some shit."
  23. >Rainbow Dash can cook?
  24. >Or is she just going to cook up a gourmet cereal breakfast
  25. >The girls begin filing out of the room, following Rainbow Dash
  26. >Before you can leave, you get a tap on the shoulder
  27. >Turning around, who else would it be but the two most annoying people in the world?
  28. >Ugh, and that shirt still reeks
  29. >Rarity knows she can that shit off, right?
  30. "What?"
  31. >Applejack and Rarity both look like they're going to faint
  32. >Jesus fucking Christ with these two
  33. "What?!"
  34. >"Twi, please don't tell nobody 'bout last night... Y'all're the only person who knows, 'n—"
  35. "What are you talking about?"
  36. >Yeah, you're the only one who knows that they argue like a married couple!
  37. "Everybody already 'knows'."
  38. >Rarity puts the back of her hand against her forehead all dramatic like
  39. >"Th-That's not possible!"
  40. "Have you guys sat next to you guys at lunch? It's pretty impossible to not see or hear what's going on. Seriously. And while we're trying to sleep? Really?"
  41. >Rarity begins to stammer
  42. >"W-We just, it's..."
  43. "Whatever, guys. I don't care, but it's still annoying to do that shit when people are trying to sleep. Anyways, I'm going to go and eat, okay?"
  44. >Applejack takes her face in her hands
  45. >"Granny's gon kill me if this gets out..."
  46. "Pfft, literally everybody and your grandmother knows. Whatever."
  47. >Just ignore those two when they're being like this, Twilight
  48. >Just go out and eat and chat people up or something
  49. >You exit and head to Rainbow's kitchen and smell...
  50. >Something actually good, surprisingly
  51. >The other girls are sitting around at a table, talking
  52. >Well, it's mostly Trixie talking at them about autist stuff, but that's fine
  53. >"Hey, Egghead. Ready for some sick pancakes?"
  54. "I'm not sure that's the best use to use when talking about food... You know, Rainbow, I'm actually a little surprised that you can cook, like, anything at all."
  55. >Rainbow pokes her chest with her thumb
  56. >"Rainbow Dash is number one at everything, Egghead! You know that. I'm the world's apex predator."
  57. "More like apex redditor..."
  58. >"What?"
  59. >You shake your head
  60. "Nothing."
  61. >"Well, it's gonna be a few, dude. Take a seat and relax."
  62. >You nod and decide to take your seat next to Trixie
  63. >"Miss Sparkle!"
  64. "Hey, Trixie."
  65. >"Trixie was just talking about that Magic tournament we participated in!"
  66. >Pinkie nods
  67. >"Yup! I don't know what she's talking about at all, but it sounds super fun!"
  68. "Uh... It was okay..."
  69. >Not really something you want to have on your mind at all...
  70. >Especially not when Fluttershy's here
  71. >You just want to relax, like Rainbow said
  72. >Not deal with all that other shit...
  73. >Rarity and Applejack take their seats next to each other, looking somewhat pale
  74. >They're oddly silent
  75. "What, not going to start up where you left off last night?"
  76. >Rarity scoffs
  77. >"Twilight, th-that's... Crude! Please, can we just not talk about it?"
  78. >Rainbow's ears perk up and she turns her head
  79. >"Talk about what?"
  80. "What they were doing all night last night."
  81. >Rainbow makes a long 'Oooooooooooh' sound, before breaking into a laugh
  82. >Rarity hides her face in her hands, and Applejack sulks in her seat looking ashamed
  83. >What fucking drama queens
  84. >"W-We weren't doin' nothin'!"
  85. >You roll your eyes
  86. >Why are they so fucking defensive over this?
  87. "You were doing what you've been doing for a long time. Why are you acting so weird about it now?"
  88. >Rarity shakes her head
  89. >"H-How could you know it, that... That it wasn't just a one time thing?"
  90. "Like I said earlier, everybody knows. I mean, I've known how you two felt about each other since the moment I met you two. The looks you give each other. You think we don't know?"
  91. >Applejack stands up from her seat
  92. >"Ah'm leavin'..."
  93. >"What?! Oh, AJ, please..."
  94. >Applejack shakes her head
  95. >"Ah can't be here right now..."
  96. >Rarity bursts into treats and runs after her
  97. >Jesus fucking Christ
  98. >Yeah, no, you get it
  99. >Not having someone to argue with 24/7?
  100. >Yeah, what torture
  101. >Rainbow scratches at her head and turns to you with a perplexed look
  102. >"What the hell's going on?"
  103. "No idea. They woke me up with their arguing last night and now they're acting all weird."
  104. >Rainbow throws her hands up in the air
  105. >"But we already know they argue ALL THE TIME!"
  106. >Pinkie nods
  107. >"Yeah, we know that they can't keep their hands off of each other! I had to hold AJ down just to keep her away from Rarity last night!"
  108. >Trixie nods
  109. >"Trixie has not been friends with you girls for very long, but Trixie also knows this."
  110. >You throw your arms up in the air as well
  111. "I KNOW!"
  112. >Drama drama drama, all the fucking time
  113. >Fluttershy just holds her head in her hands, muttering to herself like a fucking weirdo
  114. >Your stomach grumbles
  115. "Food almost done?"
  116. >"Any second, dude."
  117. >Sick
  118. >Holy shit, these pancakes are impeccable
  119. >Fucking Rainbow Dash
  120. >If she just dedicates all her time to getting really good at shit, what else does she even do with her time?
  121. >Pinkie and Trixie thank Rainbow for the food and leave
  122. >Trixie gives you a wave as she heads off, and you wave back
  123. >Fuck you're a slow eater
  124. >"So, this was your first slumber party, huh, Egghead?"
  125. >You nod
  126. "It wasn't quite what I'd expected, but, I still had a lot of fun."
  127. >"What were you expecting?"
  128. >You shrug
  129. "You know. The stereotypical slumber party stuff. Nothing but stupid games and making out. The usual."
  130. >As you look up, you see that Rainbow is squinting hard at you
  131. "Is there something on my face?"
  132. >"Why did you think we would make out at a slumber party?"
  133. >You raise your eyebrows
  134. "It's in the book?"
  135. >"What book?"
  136. "Slumber 101. It's the quintessential slumberology textbook, I believe."
  137. >She shakes her head
  138. >Are you missing something here?
  139. "What?"
  140. >"Dude, that's fucked up. That's what you were planning for when you came here?"
  141. >You feel your heart in your chest
  142. >The tell-tale sign of spaghetti build up
  143. >Fuck
  144. "Um... Like, yeah, but I was glad it didn't happen! I-It was just, you know, in the, you know, in the book!"
  145. >"Egghead, you're reading some WEIRD books."
  146. >You lower your head, trying to keep yourself calm
  147. "I-I guess..."
  148. >"Eh, whatever, Egghead. Doesn't matter. You still helped me get back together with Anon, and didn't try to do any weird shit. But, you know, could you imagine having to deal with people doing that shit at a slumber party? Dude, that'd be so awkward."
  149. >You nod
  150. >That's pretty true
  151. >Encountering anything like that, especially amongst friends, would be pretty awkward!
  152. >Maybe your opinion of normies shouldn't be so low that you take stupid rumors, or books, seriously...
  153. >You exhale
  154. >Spaghetti wasn't so bad that time
  155. >You finish up and thank Rainbow for the food
  156. >Time to head ho—
  157. >There's a tap on your shoulder
  158. >"T-Twilight?"
  159. >God damn it, Fluttershy
  160. "What?"
  161. >She looks up at you from behind her hair
  162. >Always with that fucking pretend demeanor
  163. >"Th-This doesn't change anything, b-but... Yesterday was fun. Thanks for being cool. M-Mostly."
  164. "I didn't do anything for you."
  165. >She nods
  166. >"S-Still... I don't always get to spend time with Rainbow, so... I-I'm just happy you didn't ruin it."
  167. >You look her over
  168. >This is all a facade, you know that, but it's still convincing as fuck
  169. >The pouty face, the shrunken gait, the soft-spoken voice, all of it
  170. >Probably just sign of how fucked up she is, you suppose
  171. "A-Are you going to leave me alone now?"
  172. >Fluttershy steps closer to you and smiles madly, putting her face in yours, then slides a finger across her neck
  173. >"Even if you're not a total fuck-up, I'm still looking forward to—"
  174. >"Yo, Fluttershy! You're not leaving too, are you?"
  175. >Rainbow places an arm on Fluttershy's shoulder
  176. >Fluttershy immediately turns the 'shy' back on, giving Rainbow a faint smile
  177. >"Oh, o-of course not. I-I was just saying goodbye to Twilight."
  178. >Fucking bitch cunt
  179. "Yeah... It was nice seeing you guys..."
  180. >"See ya, Egghead!"
  181. >Fluttershy waves you off
  182. >"B-Bye..."
  183. >What a fucking creep
  184. >Really wish you could tell Rainbow what kind of person Fluttershy really was
  185. >All she knows is whatever sad sob-story she grew up with
  186. >You exit Rainbow's house and begin the walk home
  187. >So, what is it that you're going to do now?
  188. >Definitely going to be a while before you can show your face in the Game Shop...
  189. >At least, of your own free will
  190. >It's been a while since you've seen Sunny
  191. >No one's heard from her in a while
  192. >Maybe you should take a detour and head over to her place
  193. >Check up on her
  194. >Maybe she's sick, or worse...
  195. >You nod to yourself
  196. >It'd be best to check up on her, yeah
  197. >And so, you begin the walk to her place
  198. >Dad won't be too upset if you're home just a little late
  199. >It takes a while, but you think you're finally coming up on Sunny's place
  200. >After last time, you really just want to have things go back to normal
  201. >Put the whole theater fiasco behind you
  202. >And she definitely helped to do that last time you hung out, but it still hangs heavily in your mind
  203. >You do wish she'd felt about you the way you did her, but maybe Sunny's way of doing things makes the most sense
  204. >Shoot for friends first before anything else
  205. >Plus, this is the first time you haven't really had oneitis in a long time
  206. >Sunny being so understanding, almost too understanding, helped you move past what could have been a very dark time
  207. >Not that you still didn't weirdly enjoy all the sparring and—
  208. >You stop and eye a car across the street
  209. >No way...
  210. >That looks like Shining's old car
  211. >The one he got when HE was in high school
  212. >You're sure of it
  213. >Haven't seen that since he became a cop
  214. >Fuck, no, there's no way
  215. >Why would he be here?
  216. >You keep walking, nearly at the entrance to Sunny's apartment complex when a man in a hoodie walks out
  217. >That's...
  218. "Shining?!"
  219. >"Twily? What are you doing here?"
  220. "Checking on Sunny... What are you doing?"
  221. >He shakes his head
  222. >"The less you know, the better."
  223. >Shining attempts to pass you, and you grab his arm
  224. "Hey! I knew you weren't going to stop looking into Discord, but... You're getting my friends involved, too?! You know how dangerous that is!"
  225. >He pulls his arm away
  226. >"Twily, she came to ME. Let's leave it at that. Now go home. It's better for the two of you to have as little contact as possible. I wouldn't even be here if she didn't get... If I didn't have to be."
  227. "Shining, what happened?"
  228. >Your brother puts an arm around you and tries to lead you away from the apartment complex
  229. >"Twily, let's go."
  230. "No! If you're not going to tell me what's going on, I'm going to ask her myself."
  231. >"Twily, don't—"
  232. >He curses under his breath as you pull yourself away from him
  233. >You rush through the complex to Sunny's door, and knock furiously, Shining on your tail
  234. >The door opens
  235. >"Back alr—Twilight?"
  236. >You push yourself in, and Shining follows after you
  237. >"I tried to stop her."
  238. >Sunny coughs and waves her hand
  239. >"It... It's fine."
  240. "Okay, I want to know what's going—"
  241. >As you turn to Sunny, your mouth drops
  242. >She looks beaten to all shit
  243. >Bruises all over from what you can see, she's holding a hand against her abdomen, slouched, using one arm to hold her up against a wall
  244. "W-What happened to you?!"
  245. >You turn to Shining
  246. "What... What the fuck?! What do you have her doing for you?!"
  247. >Sunny puts an arm on your shoulder and smiles, talking with a slightly faltering voice
  248. >"Twilight, it's fine. This is just what happens when you get initiated... Or re-initiated, in this case..."
  249. "Initiated in what?!"
  250. >Shining turns his face away from you
  251. >Sunny frowns
  252. >"I used to be in a gang. I'm fine. It looks a lot worse than it feels, and you should've seen what I went through the first time. This is nothing. Don't worry about it."
  253. >You shake your head
  254. >Gangs?
  255. >Initiation rituals?
  256. >Shining?
  257. >It doesn't take a genius to put the fucking pieces together...
  258. "But... Why? Why—Why would you guys do this?! I-I can handle myself. You shouldn't be getting yourself caught up in my problems! I know you said you wanted to help, but..."
  259. >Sunny nods
  260. >"I'm not doing this just for you. I'm doing it because it's the right thing. Because, maybe... You don't know what kind of things I've done, Twilight. You don't know the person I used to do. Shining is helping me make things right..."
  261. "But you could die! You already got... I-I mean, look at you!"
  262. >You begin to pace frantically before turn to Shining
  263. "Y-You shouldn't have let her... I..."
  264. >"Like I said, she came to me. Twily, do you understand what kind of an in Sunset is? We can get the solid proof we need to put him away for good! We're not going to just sit by and let him trash the city!"
  265. "Doesn't... Shouldn't she go to a hospital?!"
  266. >Shining shakes his head and rubs at his face, clearly frustrated with the situation
  267. >"Twily, she has to tough it out. That's the point. It's been days since she went undercover. She's already recovering well. I've been running painkillers for her, trying to tend to some of her worse injuries—"
  268. >You turn to Sunny, and you can see that she's gritting her teeth hard through her smile
  269. "I thought you said it wasn't that bad!"
  270. >"Well, you know, relatively... I've gotten wor—FUCK!"
  271. >She slumps against the wall, contorting, gripping her side
  272. "Sunny!"
  273. >You rush to her side and grab a hold of her, keeping her from totally collapsing
  274. >Shining lets out an expletive
  275. >"I have to go and grab more medical supplies. I'll be back."
  276. >He utters another curse under his breath as he runs out
  277. "Sunny, are you okay?"
  278. >"Twilight, I-I'm fine... Your brother has been taking good care of me when he can."
  279. >You sling one of her arms around your shoulder and attempt to carry her to her room
  280. >This is A LOT harder than it looks in the movies
  281. >Either that, or you're just incredibly weak
  282. >Or both
  283. "Fuck... Why would they beat people so bad they can't even work for them? What's wrong with gangs?"
  284. >Sunny laughs
  285. >"I'm old blood. I wanted my old spot back. That meant taking a little more punishment. Like I said, it wasn't—"
  286. >She lets out a hacking cough and you have to momentarily stop
  287. >"—it wasn't that bad. Usually they wouldn't let that happen but... I never snitched, and I made a name for myself..."
  288. >Sunny turns her head away from you
  289. >"I... I'm not proud of it..."
  290. >You shake your head
  291. >Sunny's capable of being violent, but...
  292. >A violent criminal?
  293. >Not just that, but a gang member?
  294. >You... You just can't see that in her
  295. "Whoever you were, that's not who you are now, but... Getting involved with this shit... I never wanted that."
  296. >A sense of relief spreads over you as you lay Sunny down on her bed
  297. >"Thanks, Twilight... And I'm sorry."
  298. >You take a seat on the bed with Sunny
  299. >God, what the fuck is happening to your life
  300. >No, what the fuck are you doing to other people's lives?
  301. >You were very close to ruining Treehugger's life
  302. >You pushed your Dad back into drinking
  303. >And Sunny's plunging herself back into a fucking GANG
  304. >Frowning, you look at Sunny's beaten and bruised body
  305. "This is all my fault..."
  306. >Sunny moves a hand over to yours
  307. >"Hey, it's not."
  308. >She chuckles
  309. >"It's Fluttershy's."
  310. >She chuckles again and grimaces, clutching her side
  311. >You simply frown
  312. >"I guess that's not that funny... Twilight, I do want to help you, but I'm doing this for me."
  313. >Sunny sighs and stares at the ceiling
  314. >"I'm doing this because I'm not sure anything's ever going to be enough to make up for the kind of person I used to be... But I'm going to keep trying. Even if it kills me."
  315. >God fucking fuck, Twilight, look at what shit you've caused
  316. >You grip her hand
  317. "Don't say stuff like that. Sunny, I like you just fine..."
  318. >You blush slightly
  319. "I think you already know that... And Trixie's been looking for you everywhere. She misses you. The girls miss you. Whatever you did in the past... That doesn't define you! The Sunset Shimmer I know is, man, she's almost sickeningly perfect! You're amazing! You don't need to do this, for me, for yourself, for anyone!"
  320. >Sunny tries to smile, but averts her eyes from yours
  321. >"I'm... I'm glad that you think I've come so far. That, when no one else would give me a chance, you did, but... You never met the real me. It feels like... I'm holding back. Every. Day. Maybe the Sunset Shimmer you know is perfect, but... She's not really real. The real me is the worst person I know..."
  322. >She pulls her hand away and lets out a deep breath, clearly holding back tears
  323. >You're not sure what you can say to her
  324. >You don't want to see her, or any of your friends, get hurt
  325. >And no matter how bad she used to be... That's not the person you know, not the person she IS
  326. "Sunny..."
  327. >You take a deep breath
  328. "You helped me back when I was... When I was just a total dick! I didn't really care about anyone. God, I know it's cheesy, but I'd probably still be holed up in my room if it wasn't for you. This is going to sound dumb, but..."
  329. >This is going to sound really dumb
  330. "Ugh, maybe it seems like something that doesn't matter, but I went to a slumber party. I went out and did something with a group of people for the first time, maybe ever. You've helped me a lot."
  331. >Sunny pushes herself up into a sitting position, leaning against the headboard of her bed, and pulls her knees up to her chest
  332. >She half frowns, her eyes still avoiding you completely
  333. >"Twilight, you were never a bad person to start with. Just someone who just needed a friend. I'm telling you, you wouldn't be here trying to give me this pep talk if you knew what I've done. Who I was..."
  334. >Sunny hands her head in her hands and sighs
  335. >"Fuck, who I am!"
  336. "Sunny, you believed in me when I didn't believe in myself. And I believe in you! The way you've treated me, Trixie... A... A bad person... They wouldn't beat themselves up like this!"
  337. >You can tell she's not buying it
  338. >You wish she would
  339. >Fuck, you're no good at this kind of thing...
  340. >"Twilight, do you know what I'm the most scared of right now?"
  341. "No..."
  342. >"It's not getting hurt. Getting killed, even... It's that I'll feel at home. That'll I'll have proof that I haven't changed."
  343. >You shake your head
  344. "That's dumb."
  345. >Sunny laughs, seemingly more out of surprise than anything else
  346. >"That's... Dumb?"
  347. "I don't know what else to say... I don't know what it is that you did, but, I guess I do know that hating yourself constantly is bad. I don't have the solution, but... It's been better with others there to help."
  348. >You scratch the back of your head, and Sunny finally looks up at you
  349. "I want to be there for you. As your friend!"
  350. >"As my friend, huh?"
  351. >Sunny laughs lowly and gives you a small half-smile, and you know your little speech hasn't changed her mind
  352. >Not totally
  353. >You're not even sure about the shit you're saying, but...
  354. >It felt good to hear this stuff from someone else, from her
  355. >Maybe you'll end up doing some good for Sunny, too
  356. >Having someone to lean on, friendship and all that shit
  357. >All those dumb platitudes about caring about people and yourself and shit
  358. >They can mean something if you make it there yourself
  359. >Right?
  360. "I'm not going to be able to convince you—Hell, at this point, I don't know if it's even possible... But, could you not go through with all this?"
  361. >"I'm sorry, but, no..."
  362. >You can't hide your disappointment, your frown...
  363. >Why do the people around you need to have this need to 'do what's right' or whatever?
  364. >"Hey, i-it's going to be fine. After this all blows over, things will go back to normal. Just hanging out and stuff."
  365. "That would be nice... I'm still sorry about last time."
  366. >Sunny laughs and grips for her side in pain
  367. >"You're always sorry."
  368. "Shouldn't I be?"
  369. >"It's 'dumb'. I don't mind what happened."
  370. >Maybe a little spaghetti amongst friends isn't so bad...
  371. >You can hear a knock on the door
  372. "That's probably Shining."
  373. >Sunny nods and you get up to leave, making your way to the apartment's entrance
  374. >You open up the door
  375. >Shining pushes his way in, carrying a bag of what is most probably medical supplies of some sort
  376. "Does she really need all that stuff?"
  377. >"Better safe than sorry."
  378. >Well, that's sort of relieving, you guess
  379. "Wait, Shining..."
  380. >He stops
  381. >"Yeah?"
  382. "Is she going to be okay?"
  383. >"Like I said before, she's healing pretty—"
  384. "No, I mean... Doing whatever it is she's doing for you..."
  385. >Shining sighs
  386. >"Knowing her, yeah, she's not going to have trouble."
  387. >He turns to you
  388. >"You know, she really comes off a lot different in person than she did from her files."
  389. "What do her files say?"
  390. >"Not sure you want to know."
  391. "So I hear..."
  392. >Eh, maybe it really is best not to know
  393. >If you're going to try and tell Sunny that her past isn't all there is to her
  394. >Well
  395. >Going out of your way to find that shit out would make you an asshole
  396. >Shining places the bag of supplies on a nearby counter
  397. >"Twily... You should head home."
  398. "Can't I stay here a while longer?"
  399. >He shakes his head
  400. >"It's best we contact her as little as possible from now on. Hell, it was just dumb luck that we happened to be here when you showed up."
  401. >You frown
  402. >You don't really know what Sunny's getting herself into... What Shining's getting her into...
  403. >Doesn't mean you aren't still sick to your stomach over it...
  404. >Maybe you can find out a way to fix things yourself
  405. "I'm just going to say goodbye, then."
  406. >Shining sighs
  407. >"Fine. Make it quick. I'm heading out."
  408. >You hear Shining exit out the door as you head back into Sunny's room
  409. "Shining dropped off some stuff for you..."
  410. >Sunny nods
  411. "Can't you just not do this?"
  412. >She doesn't say anything, and instead just sighs and looks away
  413. >You stand next to her bed
  414. "I'm scared. For you."
  415. >"You don't have to be."
  416. "I mean... So, what happens now? You just go undercover and no one hears from you again?"
  417. >She shrugs
  418. >"Until this is over, I suppose so... I'll report to Shining in secret, but aside from that..."
  419. >So you could potentially not see her again for, what?
  420. >Weeks?
  421. >Months?
  422. >If things go poorly, ever?
  423. >"Twilight, I just want to say thanks. For believing in me."
  424. >Oh, not with the fucking 'Long Goodbye' shit...
  425. "Sunny, I... Maybe we can just hang out tonight, and—"
  426. >She shakes her head
  427. >"Bruised or not, I have to be downtown tonight... I should be getting ready to go."
  428. >It feels as though the energy in your body is draining out through your feet, leaving you in a malaise
  429. >Sunny picks herself up off the bed
  430. >"I'm sorry, Twilight, but it just has to be this way."
  431. "I don't even know how dangerous this is, but you have to know, right? Why go through with this?"
  432. >Sunny shrugs
  433. >How badly does she have to think of herself to just shrug at the possibility of death?
  434. >How could she have done something that actually deserves that kind of attitude?
  435. >"Can you help me?"
  436. >You support Sunny with your shoulder, and carry her out into the foyer
  437. "It's just... As your friend, as just another person, this isn't a good idea... And I know you don't... Think about me in that way, but, as someone who cares about you..."
  438. >Oh God, Twilight...
  439. >Keep your fucking shit to yourself and your stupid head water in your tear ducts
  440. >Fuck...
  441. >Sunny pulls you into a hug, and you can feel her weight pulling you down a little, still not fully able to stand on her own easily
  442. >"The fact that you think about me the way you do... It means a lot. I'm sorry I reacted the way I did at first..."
  443. >That's something, you guess...
  444. >"I'm just... Not ready to accept that something like that can be meant for me. Twilight... I do care about you. A lot."
  445. "W-What?"
  446. >Sunny holds you out at arm's length
  447. >"I'm sorry."
  448. "B-But... Just don't go! Shining can find someone else!"
  449. >You already know your attempts to keep her from doing this will be futile
  450. >"I have to do this. I have to make amends. I'm doing this for myself."
  451. "You're doing it TO yourself."
  452. >Maybe...
  453. >You put your arms around her and—
  454. >"Twilight, no."
  455. >Man, what the fuck is going on with your fucking life...
  456. >"I... I feel guilty enough just having friends. I just can't."
  457. "Sunny, that's..."
  458. >She pulls away
  459. >"This is just the way it has to be. I have to make things right before I can do anything else..."
  460. >Sunny picks up a few things, pops a few what seem to be painkillers, and refuses to look at you
  461. >"I'll see you when I see you, I guess..."
  462. "But..."
  463. >She sighs and shakes her head
  464. "But..."
  465. >Sunny walks past you and opens the door to the hall
  466. >And that was it
  467. >The door closed behind her, and you were just left there, standing, alone
  468. >Sunny...
  469. >You don't know if you want to lash out or just lay down and never get back up
  470. >Why do things have to be this way?
  471. >You feel so powerless
  472. >Things just go on around you, and there's nothing you can do but watch
  473. >For the longest time things just went on around you, and you sat by and did nothing
  474. >Staying in your room, online, with your proxy life, you accepted you were powerless to do anything with your life
  475. >But you'd never really tried to do anything, and so there was always that niggling hope that maybe you could do something someday, if you liked
  476. >Now you know that's not true
  477. >You were as meek as you always were
  478. >Fuck, what was the good in all this...
  479. >Good job, you went to a fucking party and had fun, that proves the years of dwelling you'd done wrong, huh?
  480. >Someone feels about you the same way you feel about them?
  481. >Where are they?
  482. >Gone
  483. >Face it
  484. >You're as alone as ever...
  485. >Usually, it seems, this would be the kind of situation where you'd cry
  486. >You cry over fucking karaoke
  487. >Perhaps resignation to a defeat you'd already felt long ago doesn't require any more crying
  488. >People leaving you is all you're good for...
  489. >You're not sure how long you stick around in Sunny's hollow apartment, but by the time you leave, it's already getting dark out
  490. >Her car is gone
  491. >It's a long walk home, but you don't notice
  492. >Thinking too much
  493. >You push your way into your room and collapse lifelessly onto your bed
  494. >Spike licks your face, but gives up when you don't respond
  495. >Why do you even try?
  496. >Turning over, you look to your desktop
  497. >You need to just forget about things for a while...
  498. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MV_3Dpw-BRY
  499. >You get up and turn you computer on, the low buzz of the monitor humming against your skin
  500. >This is where you belong, right?
