Barbarian

In the world of Veska, there are many tribal folk whom prefer to rely on raw power and fury to overwhelm their foes. They ignore that thin line between life and death, battling it out with the raw, unimaginable power of their own rage and unimaginable strength. Barbarians are fearless fighters that charge in to crush anyone daring to stand in their way.

Barbarians are found quite often through the pit. Their strength is well respected and desired. Their reckless and powerful nature makes them fearless divers, almost guaranteeing them a spot in the city.

Select two professions: Acrobatics, Climbing, Handle Animal, Intimidation, Medical, Swimming, Survival, Investigation

Level 1:

Rage: The Barbarian may tap into their inner rage to enter a heightened state of power. During this time, their Strength and Fortitude score gain a +2 bonus for 3 rounds. The Barbarian is then fatigued for 3 rounds after that.

Fatigued characters suffer a -2 penalty to their strength and dexterity checks. Barbarians may not enter rage while fatigued. Barbarians suffer no penalty to unarmed attacks while enraged.

Barbaric Hide: The Barbarian's skin offers plenty protection; their scarred flesh is all they need to defend themselves! While wearing light armour or using no armour at all, the Barbarian gains damage reduction that further increases at level 7.

Level 2:

Reckless Swing: The Barbarian throws all caution in the wind to savagely attack their target. The barbarian rolls at advantage on this attack, however, any attack made on them during this time also gets advantage to hitting them.


Level 3:

Ability Score Enhancement: Increase one of your ability scores by +1


Level 4:

Feral Instincts: The Barbarian is constantly on edge, and is unable to be caught off guard by targets they see. They never suffer a penalty to surprise attacks, and take no additional damage from sneak attacks.

Level 5:

Triumphant Roar: Upon succeeding an attack on an enemy, the Barbarian may attempt to taunt them or another nearby enemy into attacking them with a triumphant shout. They must make a Charisma check or be goaded into fighting them .

Level 6:

Ability Score Enhancement: Increase one of your ability scores by +1

Level 7:

Staggering Slam: The barbarian pulls all the weight into their next Reckless Swing, so much that missing their attack actually risks sending them forwards a couple feet. However, hitting their target deals heavy damage. If the target is large or smaller, they must make a Strength saving throw or be knocked backwards, and are stunned.

Level 8:

Mindless Rage: The Barbarian blanks out all thought while enraged, and as a result cannot be charmed, put to sleep, or mentally influenced while enraged.

Level 9:

Ability Score Enhancement: Increase one of your ability scores by +1.

Level 10:

Endless Rage: Whenever the Barbarian is critically struck, their rage lasts for one round longer. Additionally, they cannot be killed while enraged; if the Barbarian takes fatal damage while enraged, they will still remain alive and enraged for the duration of their rage. The barbarian will collapse at the end of their rage, going unconscious when it ends.
