  1. I've just looked through how this is done in 1.2.5.
  2. From clients, it gets the MC version, OS, OS version, OS architecture, total memory, maximum memory, java version, OpenGL version and OpenGL vendor. It does this when you start a game.
  3. From servers, it gets MC version, OS name, OS version, OS architecture, total memory, maximum memory, free memory, java version, CPU cores, current players, maximum players, number of different players seen, whether the server uses auth or not, and the server mod name.
  4. In 1.2.4, it would get whether a client had opened the title screen, creative singleplayer, demo singleplayer, survival singleplayer or multiplayer.
  5. If you're still worried about this and want to block it, simply open up your hosts file (google it) and set snoop.minecraft.net to 127.0.0.1.
