  53. 1986. In a rural district of South Korea, two women have been recently raped and murdered. Working on the case are detectives Park Doo-man and Cho Yong-koo. Their efforts are impeded by some sloppy crime scene procedure by the police. Their methods of solving cases are also quite basic, essentially amounting to beating confessions out of suspects. All this leads to nothing and the police chief brings in a more sophisticated and intelligent detective from Seoul, Seo Tae-yoon. With his arrival the methods improve but they still don't have the killer. Then another woman is found murdered and a pattern emerges.

  55. Having seen a lot of good films this year, I picked this up after watching Thirst and wanting to see more of Song Kang Ho, remembering him being great in the Host. However, I was blown away by the fact that I never found this film earlier and while Song is excellent in it, the film and nearly everything about it is flawless in execution. The story about a detective in a small countryside town who finds a serial killer yet it's the incompetencies of the police force in general and human error which leads more and more murders. As the murders continue they find themselves powerless to use whatever clues they have to find the murderer. I'll leave it at that in terms of plot as it the film beautifully pulls you in until it's frustratingly simple conclusion. The cinematography is outstanding with a haunting score worthy of the film's amazing direction. I simply cannot find the words to describe how great this film is. I rarely watch films twice and never watched a film again without getting bored. On repeated viewings, you begin to appreciate the little scenes the director has put in and i didn't pick up one of the running gags until the third time though, they add little to the plot but are enjoyable and fascinating as the director chooses to move at his own pace. While not perfect, the quality of the film brings the smallest niggles to light and while there are only a few, this film does not get the recognition it deserves in the west, yet at the same time, it's like a little secret that is appreciated by those who are lucky enough to find it. As with any murder and mystery, you'll be looking for clues, even on multiple viewings but at best you'll be grasping at straws and jumping to conclusions until the frustratingly simple ending
  56. &quot;Memories of Murder&quot; is a crime movie which is based on true events that happened in 1986 in South Korea. There we watch a series of murders and in each of them the victims are beautiful women and always the police find them raped, tied and gagged with her underwear. In the investigations of the police two local detectives are in charge who are a bit stupid because they investigate their suspects with brutal way and without any kind of technique and of course they can not find the serial killer. When a new detective comes everything change because after the third victim of the serial killer they start to find some interesting information of him and they continue more careful their investigation.<br/><br/>I really liked this movie because it is based on a true events that happened in the past and as a result because of the plot which I found very interesting. I also liked this movie because of the interpretation of Sang-kyung Kim who played as Detective Seo Tae-Yoon and he was simply outstanding on it. Some other interpretations that I liked in this movie were the interpretations of Kang-ho Song who played as Detective Park Doo-Man and Sang-kyung Kim who played as Detective Seo Tae-Yoon.<br/><br/>Finally I have to say that &quot;Memories of Murder&quot; is a great movie to watch and before you judge it because of the language and because it is not in English I have to tell you that the plot and the storyline it will cover you just fine. I strongly recommend it.
