  1. <Tales_GM> The year is 2512 on the Imperial Calendar...
  2. <Tales_GM> At the accorded hour, you arrive at the Festival Court. It is a temporary tribunal set up to deal with the expected increase in litigation as the Schaffenfest attracts people from near and far, and is located in a large tent with the town's coat of arms hanging outside. Two Bögenhafen State Army halberdiers flank the entrance, and as you approach you are asked for a legitimate interest
  3. <Tales_GM> in any of the cases to be heard before the Chief Magistrate.
  4. * Thorek quirks an eyebrow at their surroundings, what a terrible way to spend a day during a mangling festival. "Case for an Afrock and Kruger."
  5. <Thorek> "We're their comrades, and here to do what we can if possible, if not to at least be witness to the proceedings."
  6. <Tales_GM> "Odd groupin' to be allowed in all at once."
  7. <Tales_GM> "And yet fully protected under the Prince-Elector's own law to be witness to just proceedings," interjects a tall, lanky man in fine burgundy attire.
  8. <Tales_GM> "Konrad Naumann, at your service," he says turning to you as the guards roll their eyes at one another.
  9. <Thorek> "Naumann? Who's this manling?" He asks his friends.
  10. <Roderick> "Ah yes the guild said you'd be coming." Roderick extends his hand.
  11. <Tales_GM> Naumann shakes Roderick's hand, and nods at the rest.
  12. <Roderick> "The lawyer I hired to handle the issue here." he adds to Thorek.
  13. <Thorek> "Ahhhhhh, well met manling." Thorek proffers his own hand as well.
  14. <Tales_GM> "And the young man there is my assistant, Johann," he says more to the halberdiers than anyone else.
  15. <Tales_GM> "Pleasure," he says turning back to shake Thorek's hand.
  16. <Tales_GM> "Now, gentlemen, my clients and I will be entering the court," he says stepping in without bothering for a reply.
  17. * Roderick nods and follows Nuamann.
  18. * Thorek steps in past the guards, following the lawyer.
  19. <Tales_GM> Johann, a student lawyer, or perhaps a simple clerk, carries a large tome of legal text under one arm, and a small wooden box with external slots with inset quills.
  20. <Far_Foririan> "Hope this goes well."
  21. <Thorek> "Grimnir willing it will, elgi."
  22. <Shivva_Runna> "This isn't the first time this has happened nor the last."
  23. <Tales_GM> Inside, a dispute among two merchants is being heard. Naumann waves you to one corner where a table is made available. His assistant sets the tome and opens the writing kit on the table top.
  24. * Far_Foririan start thinking out how to help.
  25. <Tales_GM> "The accusations are conspiracy, and fraud," says Naumann.
  26. <Tales_GM> "Is there anything I should know before we begin?"
  27. <Thorek> "First, my cousin would not go so low as to commit anything of the sort. He's a Slayer. Bouts of arms in an honorable ring are sacred to his kind. If he knew such a thing was going to take place he'd have likely left the ring and strangled Kruger. You don't interfere in a Slayer's personal fight like that." Thorek grumbles.
  28. <Tales_GM> Some distance behind you, a gavel is pounded again and again in an attempt to bring order as one witness leaps to assault the defendant. It isn't long before the two Bögenhafen State Army soldiers standing by the Magistrate step in and subdue the unruly witness.
  29. <Roderick> "As for the he's an Acolyte of Sigmar and he doesn't have any such power to smite down anyone. His gifts from Sigmar don't work like that."
  30. <Tales_GM> Unperturbed, Naumann follows up; "Yet that absolves the Dawi alone."
  31. <Thorek> "Aye." He agrees with Naumann's statement.
  32. <Tales_GM> "I am told the plaintiff has a witness who will testify that the powers exerted by the priest are alone responsible for the champion's collapse."
  33. <Roderick> "Protection and wards against harm sure. But that doesn't line up with the timing."
  34. <Roderick> "A protection against harm wouldn't fell that man...I'd have a surgeon look at him. We had ours do it but they'll claim bias and such."
  35. <Thorek> "I saw the hard blows my cousin was landing. Is there no way to prove it was the damage Afrock had inflicted and not the blessing?"
  36. <Tales_GM> "Surgeon?" he raises an eyebrow. "Who?"
  37. * Roderick jerks a thumb at Shivva
  38. * Far_Foririan point to Shivva.
  39. <Shivva_Runna> "The champion collapsed from internal bleeding."
  40. <Shivva_Runna> "Tried to treat it as best as I could, but it was bad."
  41. <Tales_GM> "Leave. Return to the tent from the opening around the corner. Johann?"
  42. <Roderick> "Why would we have our guy try and patch him up if we were the ones who caused it? Doesn't make any sense to me."
  43. <Tales_GM> The assistant provides Shivva with a chit.
  44. <Shivva_Runna> "Well... feck."
  45. <Tales_GM> "Leave, sir." Naumann repeats with a frown.
  46. * Shivva_Runna leaves to the assigned area.
  47. <Tales_GM> "The matter of Klaus Schattiger versus Kruger Laut and Afrock Oglow Bryntok will be heard. All relevant parties present yourselves before Chief Magistrate Hans Richter."
  48. <Tales_GM> "Right, that's us," Naumann says nodding to his assistant. From the far away corner, Kruger and Afrock are escorted in.
  49. <Tales_GM> The lawyer makes his way forward, and introduces himself with a courteous bow. "Konrad Naumann, if the court please, representing defendants Laut and Bryntok. Guild credentials presented to the clark of this tribunal, for the record."
  50. <Tales_GM> "Have a seat, Herr Naumann," Richter acknowledges with a nod.
  51. * Thorek makes his way to the gallery, on the side of the defendants to watch.
  52. * Far_Foririan takes a seat in the gallery on the defendants side.
  53. <Tales_GM> "Klaus Schattiger, reputed Ring Master of the Schaffenfest for fourteen years, and master entertainer of the good people of Bögenhafen."
  54. * Roderick follows suit and joins the others to watch the proceedings.
  55. <Tales_GM> "Have a seat," the Magistrate nods.
  56. <Tales_GM> "A reminder to those in the gallery that addressing the court, disruptions in the gallery, and other such interrupting events will not be tolerated."
  57. <Tales_GM> With that, the gavel strikes, and the Ring Master is allowed to make his case.
  58. <Tales_GM> His claims haven't changed. He alleges that Kruger cast some sort of force on Crusher, making the man collapse at a pivotal moment in the fight, when it was clear to any onlooker that he was about to be victorious in the bout against Afrock.
  59. <Tales_GM> "To measure the severity, the court would like to know the reward offered any successful challenger," Richter asks.
  60. <Tales_GM> "12 Crowns, your Majesty."
  61. <Tales_GM> "Magistrate will do, sir. I am not royalty."
  62. <Tales_GM> "A substantial sum, enough to make this a severe crime indeed..." Richter comments writing the sum down.
  63. * Roderick scoffs loudly and shakes his head.
  64. <Tales_GM> "And tell me, sir, how do you know the accused did as you have claimed?"
  65. * Far_Foririan narrows his eyes on the ring master, annoyed at what he just heard from them.
  66. <Tales_GM> "Why, my witness will confirm this! An expert in all matters arcane, Magistrate."
  67. <Tales_GM> "Very well. The court will now hear from the witness."
  68. <Tales_GM> A woman in off-yellow robes enters. You recognize her as the person who whispered in the Ring Master's ear as Crusher collapsed.
  69. <Tales_GM> "Madame, tell the court your name, and what your qualifications are."
  70. <Tales_GM> "My name is Ursula Talecht, sir. Formerly of the Temple of Verena. I have spent my life in the study of the power of the Gods, and to serve their justice on this, the mortal realm."
  71. <Tales_GM> "Objection, Magistrate," Naumann rises to his feet.
  72. <Tales_GM> "On what grounds?"
  73. <Tales_GM> "The honorable lady before us has presented credentials on matters divine. To conflate this with knowledge of the arcane borders on deviant, heretical, territory. Surely this court would not entertain such slights against Imperial Law."
  74. <Tales_GM> The Magistrate, not expecting the heat of the spotlight to shine on him, is taken aback.
  75. <Tales_GM> "Why..."
  76. <Tales_GM> "Why perhaps some clarification is due here?"
  77. <Tales_GM> Richter awaits some kind of response from Ursula.
  78. * Far_Foririan whispers to Roderick, "What do you think?"
  79. <Tales_GM> She gazes to the Ring Master, and then back to the Magistrate.
  80. <Tales_GM> "My knowledge is confined to the divine, sir."
  81. <Roderick> "I think the Ringmaster talks out of his ass."
  82. <Tales_GM> "You misrepresent your witness, Mr. Schattiger," the Magistrate says.
  83. <Thorek> "He is a showman after all, manling. I wouldn't be surprised he told such tall tales while shitting at the privy."
  84. <Tales_GM> Not skipping a beat, Naumann rises once more. "Your Honor, I move to have the witness dismissed on grounds of misrepresented credentials."
  85. <Roderick> "I'm sure he does."
  86. <Tales_GM> "I have no choice, Mr. Schattiger. Your witness is dismissed. Please escort the witness outside."
  87. <Tales_GM> "Are there any other grounds by which you claim the defendants' guilt?"
  88. <Tales_GM> "Crusher is in perfect physical health, sir! Until the whisperings of that priest, he couldn't be felled by a giant."
  89. <Tales_GM> Naumann, once more, rises.
  90. <Tales_GM> "As a matter of fact, Magistrate..."
  91. <Tales_GM> "We have an expert witness who will testify on matters of Mr Braugen -so called Crusher- and his health."
  92. <Tales_GM> Richter nods. "Very well. Allow the next witness to present themselves."
  93. * Shivva_Runna enters the 'courtroom'.
  94. <Tales_GM> "Sir, tell the court your name, and what your qualifications are."
  95. <Shivva_Runna> "Hello, I am Shivva Runna. I was trained at hospice in Altdorf."
  96. <Tales_GM> "I object to this witness!" the Ring Master immediately says.
  97. <Tales_GM> "On what grounds, Mr. Schattiger?"
  98. <Tales_GM> "This man, this... wretch who claims to be a man of medicine, travels with the troupe of charlatans! He is biased and unqualified to testify!"
  99. <Tales_GM> Richter considers this for a moment.
  100. <Tales_GM> "Mr. Naumann? Care to respond?"
  101. <Tales_GM> "If the court would allow, I would approach the witness."
  102. <Tales_GM> The Magister nods.
  103. <Tales_GM> Naumann takes several steps forward, in a calm, confident manner.
  104. <Tales_GM> "Mr. Runna, how many people would you say you have treated in your lifetime?"
  105. <Shivva_Runna> "At this point in my life? Too many to count."
  106. <Tales_GM> "Too many to count," Naumann repeats, letting the phrase linger for a moment.
  107. <Thorek> "I think our showman has given himself enough rope for a lengthy drop from the gallows."
  108. <Tales_GM> "And is this not true of many a healing man?"
  109. <Shivva_Runna> "I suppose so."
  110. <Tales_GM> "Why of course it is. Such is the life of service taken by so many a physician, apothecary, nurse..."
  111. <Tales_GM> "If the passing association of a healing man were to disqualify him from testifying in a criminal proceeding, it would be impossible for them ever to be permitted to do so. They aid anyone they are able to, without question of status or association, your Honor. If it so happens that our good Doctor traveled with these men to the Schaffenfest, it cannot be held against his profound
  112. <Tales_GM> credentials."
  113. <Tales_GM> "Very well. The objection is overruled."
  114. <Tales_GM> "Now, Mr. Runna, you have examined Mr. Braugen?"
  115. <Shivva_Runna> "Yes, I have examined him."
  116. <Tales_GM> "Could you now testify to the court what, in your expert opinion, is the proximate cause of the champion's collapse?"
  117. <Shivva_Runna> "Internal bleeding in the guts."
  118. <Tales_GM> "Would you describe the cause of the internal bleeding to be blunt-force trauma?"
  119. <Shivva_Runna> "Yes."
  120. <Tales_GM> "Chief Magistrate, in light of the testimony provided, I would like to introduce a motion to dismiss this case," Naumann at last says.
  121. <Tales_GM> "Mr. Schattiger, I find that at present, you have failed to provide sufficient evidence to prove your case. Is there anything you would like to add at this time, as the court considers a motion for dismissal?"
  122. <Tales_GM> The Ring Master is lost for words.
  123. <Tales_GM> Waiting a moment longer, Richter at last nods, writes something down, and bangs the gavel. "Case dismissed. The detained defendants are to be released immediately."
  124. <Tales_GM> "Thank you, your Honor," Naumann says with a bow.
  125. * Far_Foririan breaths a sigh of relief at the outcome of the case.
  126. * Afrock is visibly happy.
  127. <Tales_GM> "The matter of Hawls versus Metziger will be heard! All relevant parties present yourselves before the Magistrate!"
  128. <Tales_GM> Naumann makes his way out, giving you an affirming nod as he passes you by. He awaits you outside the entrance.
  129. <Roderick> "Alright let's go."
  130. * Far_Foririan stands up and makes his way out.
  131. * Afrock follows instructions.
  132. * Roderick stands and makes his way outside to Naumann.
  133. <Shivva_Runna> "Let's collect our gold."
  134. <Tales_GM> Afrock and Kruger are released, and let out from a rear exit.
  135. * Afrock incoherently mumbles his best saying of "Gold."
  136. <Tales_GM> As you congregate outside, Naumann addresses you. "It was my pleasure to represent you in this matter, gentlemen."
  137. <Tales_GM> He reaches into his coat, and produces a calling card.
  138. * Roderick takes card and tucks it into a coat pocket.
  139. <Shivva_Runna> "Thank you for your service."
  140. <Roderick> "Appreciate you helping us out Herr Naumann. We may need your services once more rather soon if the Ring Master decides not to pay."
  141. * Afrock gives the lawyer a thumbs up and looks happy.
  142. <Tales_GM> "Should the wretch make such a blunder, I will be ready and willing to assist once more," the lawyer says with something of a smile forming on his face.
  143. * Far_Foririan goes up to Afrock, "Glad to see you happy there." as he gives him a pat on the shoulder.
  144. * Roderick cracks a half smile and reaches out to shake his hand. "A pleasure Herr Naumann."
  145. * Afrock nods in agreement.
  146. <Tales_GM> "Johann, everything ready? Come, let's go."
  147. <Tales_GM> The Ring Master makes his presence known by arguing in whispers with two other men whom you recognize were sitting in the gallery during the hearing.
  148. <Roderick> "Here we are." Roderick moves to intercept the Ring Master.
  149. <Tales_GM> "Gloat elsewhere, I have business to handle," he waves Roderick off.
  150. * Roderick blocks his path once more.
  151. * Afrock stands follows behind Roderick taking a sentinel stance.
  152. <Tales_GM> "Eager for some incarceration of your own, are you? What a sorry group you are."
  153. <Roderick> "I am not here to gloat. But to collect winnings. You already tried to weasel your way out of paying by drumming up this ridiculous case."
  154. <Roderick> "12 crowns I believe you told the Magistrate."
  155. <Tales_GM> "Winnings, is it? And who will compensate me for the treatment Crusher will have to receive? Leave me be, vagrant, or your stay in the Schaffenfest may be more eventful than you planned."
  156. <Roderick> "We'll have our winnings or you'll be faced with another case. Or are you planning your defense to be that you lied to the Magistrate...which I am sure comes with it's own slew of issues."
  157. * Thorek gives the showman the stinkeye, his hand resting on the head of his axe.
  158. <Tales_GM> "Look, enough of this legal talk. No one wants to deal with that charade again..."
  159. <Tales_GM> he reaches into a coin purse.
  160. <Tales_GM> "Four crowns, as promised. Good day."
  161. <Roderick> "I believe you told the Magistrate 12."
  162. <Roderick> "That's what we will have."
  163. <Tales_GM> "You misheard."
  164. <Roderick> "For trying to welch."
  165. <Roderick> "Oh I am sure the Magistrate didn't."
  166. <Thorek> "I believe I saw him scribble that down as well." Thorek says as he cleans his fingernails with his dagger.
  167. * Afrock nods in agreement and grunts.
  168. <Roderick> "But I can see you want to be unreasonable." Roderick turns to Far. "If you'd be so kind as to tell Herr Naumann we have need of him again..."
  169. <Roderick> "I don't think he's gone very far."
  170. <Tales_GM> "It is no crime to misspeak. You waste the court's time!"
  171. <Far_Foririan> "Gladly." he then turns to go get Naumann.
  172. <Tales_GM> His face contorts into a deeply hateful expression.
  173. <Tales_GM> "Fine. Wait."
  174. <Roderick> "Lying to a Magistrate is just that. A crime."
  175. * Roderick calls to Far. "Hold."
  176. * Far_Foririan stops and turns to look back.
  177. <Tales_GM> "Six Crowns. It's all I can do, you filthy highwaymen..."
  178. <Roderick> "Half..."
  179. * Roderick looks at the others.
  180. <Tales_GM> "All. You strip me bare!"
  181. <Roderick> "Six is half of twelve..unless I am having a fit and can't count anymore."
  182. <Tales_GM> "And perhaps you are..."
  183. * Roderick shrugs. "Go ahead Far. I see we need to settle this in front of the Magistrate."
  184. <Thorek> "Easy, Roderick, we don't want to push the man too hard. Perhaps he is just a poor showman who's backed the wrong horse, as you manlings like to say."
  185. <Tales_GM> "Listen to your more reasonable companion," he says.
  186. <Thorek> "Hmmmmm however, I don't rightly buy your story, manling. My dwarven intuition tells me you've got more than enough to pay up." Thorek then frowns and slides his thumb along his axe blade.
  187. <Tales_GM> "Blind to justice, the dwarf is!"
  188. <Shivva_Runna> "That's also my fees that need to be paid."
  189. <Roderick> "Well, last chance to be reasonable Ring Master."
  190. <Roderick> "I suggest you take it."
  191. <Thorek> "Easy, manling. We dwarves are very famous for our grudges. Choose your next words carefully when accusing me."
  192. <Tales_GM> "Miserable outsiders, coming in here and ruining a perfectly good festival..." he says, at last producing the full 12 Crowns.
  193. * Roderick takes the twelve and passes it to Afrock.
  194. * Afrock grabs the 12 crowns and counts them.
  195. <Roderick> "A pleasure Ring Master." Roderick bows and flourishes his hat.
  196. <Thorek> "At least the doctor can fix up your prize fighter. Grimnir watch over you, manling."
  197. * Afrock pockets the coin and looks pleased.
  198. <Roderick> He then turns and moves away from the man.
  199. <Shivva_Runna> "Well, now that is resolved. My fee."
  200. <Tales_GM> "Fee? A jester in physician's garb!"
  201. <Shivva_Runna> "I kept your champion from bleeding out."
  202. <Tales_GM> "And in what a sorry state he is! Some physician you are... out of my way."
  203. <Shivva_Runna> "Sorry State? You mean getting his ass kicked in the ring."
  204. <Tales_GM> "It was witchcraft! Sorcery of the most foul kind!" he exclaims, pointing directly in Kruger's face.
  205. * Thorek shakes his head and sighs.
  206. * Far_Foririan looks at the Ring Master, "So you claim magic was to blame?"
  207. <Tales_GM> "This corrupted figure of a priest will be found out! Just you wait!"
  208. * Afrock does the same as Thorek.
  209. <Roderick> "I am a Witch Hunter sir. Accusations of witchcraft is a serious crime. I'd choose your next words more carefully before besmirching an Acolyte of Sigmar."
  210. <Tales_GM> "Hah! You? You?! I have you now, damn your eyes. To impersonate a Witch Hunter to protect a vile practitioner of the dark arts! Why, you'll burn for this!"
  211. <Tales_GM> "Oi! There you are! Top price, they sold!" a familiar laugh follows from somewhere behind you.
  212. * Roderick turns his sword towards the man so the symbol on the hilt is visible. "If you know what this symbol means then you'll cease your caterwauling and move on Ring Master."
  213. <Tales_GM> Before he can answer, Josef pats Roderick on the back and looks down at the Ring Master.
  214. <Tales_GM> "Klaus?" Josef says with a frown.
  215. <Tales_GM> Unwilling to suffer any more humiliation, the Ring Master takes a speedy leave.
  216. <Thorek> "Oi, you know that wazzock, Josef?"
  217. <Shivva_Runna> "Let me treat your wounds. As for the jaw, that will take time."
  218. <Tales_GM> "Aye. A scoundrel, that one, but he knows how to put on a show. Always around during Schaffenfest," Josef nods.
  219. <Thorek> "Aye, that scoundrel tried to screw us good. But the wazzock's greed was his undoing in this case. HA!"
  220. * Afrock quickly pays off his debt to Far and Roderick, then gives Shivva a gold for medical supplies.
  221. * Roderick helps to hold Afrock down while Shivva sets his jaw.
  222. * Afrock suppresses screaming from having his jaw treated.
  223. <Shivva_Runna> "We are gonna have to get you a helmet too."
  224. <Tales_GM> "Got beaten good, aye Afrock?" Josef comments watching the procedure.
  225. * Afrock looks unhappy, but nods in agreement.
  226. <Thorek> "Aye, but as always he came out on top."
  227. <Tales_GM> "Got the beginning of a liquid diet, lad, not to worry. It'll numb the pain some, too!"
  228. * Afrock grunts.
  229. * Afrock nods.
  230. <Tales_GM> "You'll see, now. Best beer tent in the festival!"
  231. <Thorek> "Ah finally! Been needing a whole keg of ale since we got here. I thirst."
  232. * Afrock raises his hand in excitement.
  233. <Shivva_Runna> "Off to the gambling tents then. Anyone want to come with me?"
  234. <Thorek> "As I recall, there's not any tents that cater to that, Shivva. We'd have to get you to a proper den."
  235. * Shivva_Runna sighs.
  236. <Roderick> "Alright well we best not send Shivva alone. Who goes with Afrock and Josef to enjoy ale and who goes into the city with Shivva?"
  237. <Tales_GM> "Well... if you don't mind a walk we can head back to the Half-Measure Tavern. Halflings of this town love a good game o' chance!"
  238. <Tales_GM> "Just so happens some of that wine we brought in is being served there - quality stuff, that."
  239. <Thorek> "Shouldn't take too long, I suspect. Grab an ale there as well and head back to the tents for some proper drinkin'."
  240. <Shivva_Runna> "Yea, that's sound like a plan. Booze and gambling and all."
  241. <Tales_GM> "Follow me," Josef says with a nod, "Oh, and don't mind the door."
  242. <Roderick> "The door?"
  243. <Tales_GM> "Aye," he says with a nod.
  244. <Tales_GM> A ten minute walk takes you into Altstadt, the old quarter of the city.
  245. <Tales_GM> The streets are unpaved and churned to mud for the most part. But the Half-Measure sits on a paved, and characteristically well-maintained portion of the quarter.
  246. <Tales_GM> "There she is," Josef says. You realize instantly that the entryway is no more than four feet tall.
  247. <Tales_GM> Still, hoots of raucous laughter, cheers and groans can be heard from within.
  248. <Far_Foririan> "Well, could be worse, could be three feet tall."
  249. <Roderick> "You sure they are even going to be able to seat us Josef?"
  250. <Tales_GM> "Aye," Josef says with a grunt as he bends low to enter.
  251. * Roderick curses under his breath and follows suit.
  252. * Far_Foririan does the same and bends low to enter.
  253. <Tales_GM> Inside, you are greeted by the sight of dozens of Halflings, and almost as many Humans, merrily quaffing drinks and playing dozens of pub games such as Beast, Bowling, Dwile Flonking, and Scarlet Empress.
  254. * Thorek chuckles as he is inconvenienced from the doorway and walks right in.
  255. * Afrock enters with less difficulty then Far.
  256. <Thorek> The dwarf immediately goes up to the bar and orders a flagon of ale.
  257. * Afrock follows Thorek and gestures for an ale and a straw.
  258. * Thorek will help Afrock order, given his condition.
  259. <Tales_GM> "Josef!" the Halfling landlady calls out.
  260. <Tales_GM> "Aye Foxy, I'm back! How's the wine? Quality stuff, eh?"
  261. <Tales_GM> "Perfection! Give me a moment to clear your table, dear."
  262. <Tales_GM> A moment later, you are seated at a wide table, and Josef calls in the first round of ale and two bottles of the imported wine.
  263. <Tales_GM> "And a straw, Foxy, if it ain't too much trouble," he says winking at Afrock.
  264. * Afrock nods in appreciation.
  265. <Shivva_Runna> "This was a fun day."
  266. <Tales_GM> "There you are, dear," she says as she returns with the straw.
  267. * Afrock grunts in response.
  268. <Tales_GM> "Keep up!" Josef calls, grabbing the flagon firmly and downing his ale.
  269. * Afrock is forced to pace himself, because of the straw.
  270. <Shivva_Runna> "Excuse me, Gentlemen. I have some money to lose."
  271. * Shivva_Runna gets up and joins one of the card tables.
  272. * Thorek takes his seat and doesn't hesitate to start quaffing down his ale.
  273. * Far_Foririan takes one of the ales and begins to drink.
  274. <Tales_GM> "Keep an eye on that purse!" Josef says with a hearty laugh, even if the (rather loud) remark doesn't land well with every patron present.
  275. * Afrock nods.
  276. <Tales_GM> The table is made up of four Halflings, and two Humans. They welcome Shivva to take a seat, and the first shillings are placed as the round begins.
  277. <Tales_GM> After two consecutive winds for Shivva, a Halfling greedily collects his winnings from the table.
  278. <Tales_GM> Several more hands go on, and Ranald shows his favor to Shivva.
  279. * Shivva_Runna is finished with his offerings and returns to the rest of the group
  280. <Tales_GM> By the time the rounds of drinking are over, and the gambling stops, the night sky has taken over.
  281. <Tales_GM> You know this, because spooked patrons enter, talking of an ill omen.
  282. <Thorek> "Mayhap we should get back to the tents and continue, dawri?" Before he turns to the spooked patrons. "What's that about then..." he says with a lowered voice.
  283. <Tales_GM> "Morrslieb rises full! The town is bathed in its sickly green light!"
  284. <Tales_GM> "The Emperor's edict, lads, as I said..." says another patron.
  285. <Tales_GM> "Toleratin' mutants... brings an illness to the realm."
  286. <Tales_GM> Josef grunts at this, but says nothing.
  287. * Thorek asks Josef if he wouldn't mind letting the group stay on the boat for at least another night. In exchange they'd keep an eye on it for him.
  288. <Roderick> "Alright it's been quite the night but I should rest. Is your barge still available Josef?"
  289. <Tales_GM> "Aye, but not for long. Shipwrights will be startin' work in the morning."
  290. <Roderick> "We'll be up and out of their way by then. As always your hospitality is appreciated."
  291. * Afrock nods
  292. <Tales_GM> "More room for the night, too. Crates and barrels are offloaded. Wolmar and Gilda will be lodging in town, too. Take good care of her."
  293. <Thorek> "She's in good hands, Josef." He says as he finished is current flagon.
  294. * Roderick nods. "Will do Josef."
