  1. I purchased a server on eBay and it came with a LSI 9260-4i RAID card. Unfortunately it does not have a HBA or JBOD or any similar mode that lets it pass the discs through without some level of RAID. I know I could do each drive as a RAID 0, but I would prefer not to. I want to get an equivalent HBA, but I'm not very familiar with them. After a bit of research, it seems that the LSI 9211-4i may be the equivalent. I wanted to double-check with someone more knowledgeable so I didn't make a mistake or run into a "gotcha". Thanks and keep up the great work!

  5. Some of the LSI cards can be cross-flashed to have an HBA mode, but I don't think that is the case for the 9260. You can check servethehome.com for tutorials and see if there is one.

  7. I mostly use 9207-8i's, but a 9211-4i or 8i would done fine as well.

  9. The FreeNAS forums has some guides on how to get the cheapest LSI card
