  1. Skipping the boat in Wave Man saves 150 frames or 2.5 seconds, assuming:
  2.
  3. -1a.
  4. The fastest possible entry into the boat, sliding off 2 arrows directly into it (you can despawn the arrows and fall off of them by pressing left when you're over the boat if you want to take it intentionally). Assume an extra full second if the slide is missed entirely, triggering the walking animation from the cutscene at its earliest point.
  5. ===VS.===
  6. -1b.
  7. A very fast 2-arrow slide jump into the screen transition over the boat. A 3-arrow slide loses 20 frames to a great 2-arrow slide jump. It's possible to slide directly into the screen transition with 2 arrows, but it's frame-perfect or near it.
  8.
  9. -2a.
  10. A 2-cycle octo fight in the boat (he died just as his head goes under for the second time - a slightly faster boat fight is possible than the one I got, but it's very tough).
  11. ===VS.===
  12. -2b.
  13. A 2-cycle octo fight killing him with 3 shots as he tries to submerge. He died midway down and I was able to start sliding immediately as his hurtbox disappeared.
  14.
  15. 3.
  16. Minimal lag both in and out of the boat, achieved with despawning Mega Man as much as possible. Lag is potentially worse on foot, but fairly easy to minimize with smart buster placement. Lag in the boat is almost nonexistent unless you get hit. Handled correctly, lag should be about equal whether you're in the boat or not.
  17.
  18. Frames saved from skip:
  19. ------------------------------------
  20. Entering the boat screen: 0
  21. Beginning the autoscroller: 12
  22. Reaching Octoper screen: -81
  23. Leaving Octoper screen: 6
  24. Entering cannon screen: 144
  25. Touching boss door: 150 (217 on slow boat entry)
