- Welcome to Night of the Mazes 2017, this year's MazeWorld Halloween special event!
- In NotM 2017, every participating community member can join an ongoing fight against the previously hinted-at Doom Dragon, currently roaming the Mazes in search of bodies to kill and souls to absorb. It has already ravaged Ferland Sector and Beadsor, and it is threatening other towns. The creature is seemingly going towards another large community that is owned by a faction renowned for their work with souls and soul energy: Hell Inc.
- The primary objective of the Doom Dragon is to reach the town of Gehen, the capital city of Hell, and defeat all of its inhabitants. If it succeeds, it may very well phase into the dimension of Hell and consume the Board of Directors, becoming a threat greater than anything the Mazes has ever seen, certainly spelling DOOM for the entire world.
- Naturally, this just won't do. Inhabitants of the Mazes must courageously stand up to the threat and manage to defeat it before it dies. And it is up to YOU, the community members, to become Maze Defenders and kill it before it can reach its objective!
- ---
- HOW TO PLAY
- The concept of the fight against the Doom Dragon is that it is permanently advancing towards Gehen. The Doom Dragon will start in the vicinity of Ferland Sector, then advance towards the military town of Station Sigma, before going towards Gehen. If the Doom Dragon does reach Gehen, it will advance towards the Dark Sanctum there.
- The Doom Dragon succeeds if it manages to reach the Dark Sanctum and destroys the Demonic altar. Doing so will create a dimensional rift which will allow the abomination to reach into the dimension of Hell and defeat Hell Inc.
- In order for YOU to succeed, you must play as a Maze Defender and deplete the Doom Dragon's health before it reaches its objective. It will be considered to have reached its objective if, by the time the GM calls off the event on November 1st, the Doom Dragon's health has not been depleted.

- STATS AND CHARACTERS
- Maze Defender
- Health: 3 HP. You suffer from no ill effects until you reach 0 HP, at which point you die.
- Some of the Doom Dragon's attacks may effectively instant kill you.
- Regardless of the way you die, if you do die, the Doom Dragon eats your body, your soul, and depending on the way you died, he may even regain HP!
- Maze Defenders, well, they're you! They're inhabitants of the Mazes - citizens, Guards, Soldiers, anyone and everyone who is joining to fight this draconic rolling threat. You can play as many Maze Defenders as you like (no more than 1 alive per person, but you can die and start over as many times as you want).
- Weapons: You roll _one_ weapon using MazeBot, and then you use the appropriate bullet type command to determine the bullet type of your weapon. All ammunition rolled is Standard Pressure, and uses Regular Powder.
- Pistol calibers except .22 LR: @pbt (.45-70 counts as pistol caliber)
- Rifle calibers except 4.73x33 Caseless: @rbt (4.6x30 and 5.7x28 count as rifle calibers)
- Shotgun calibers: @sst (if you get .410 bore, the following ammo types are not available: FMJ Slug, HP Slug, FRAG-12, Coin shot. If you roll any of these slugs, you get Slug instead, or Buckshot if you roll Coin shot.)
- .22 Long Rifle and 4.73x33mm Caseless: Don't roll, you always get FMJ.
- Grenade launchers: @40mmNt if 40mm NATO, @40mmCt if 40mm Caseless, @43mmt if 43mm.
- Anything else: Rolling is not required
- If you managed to somehow expend all of your ammo and survive, you may roll a new weapon immediately.
- Ammunition: You get _three_ extra full magazines of standard size (within immediate reach - you have magical load-bearing equipment), loaded with the ammo type you rolled. If your weapon does not use detachable magazines, you get an equivalent amount of ammunition to fill your weapon's magazine 3 times (not including +1). If you rolled a grenade, you get 3 extra grenades, for a total of 4. If you rolled an explosive requiring a detonator, you also get the detonator.
- Combat: It is simplified, to facilitate more players and quick action. Defenders are all considered to have Basic skill in all weapon skills, and must work with all limitations and rules in place - Recoil, Failure Threshold, Inaccuracy Range, accessories, and so on. No other items besides weapons, accessories and ammunition will be used.
- There is no limit to the amount of Maze Defenders that can attack in a single turn. The more, the merrier, right? (Just remember that turn resolution may take a while if many players are joining the fight.)
- Doom Dragon
- The Doom Dragon is similar to a golem in that it has raw health, a LDV modifier, and is insensitive to pain.
- Health: 10 000 HP
- AC equivalent: A3 (armor piercing ammunition is more effective)
- LDV -0 (despite AC A3, he does not have the LDV-3 effect that usually characterizes creatures and armor of that level).
- All of the Doom Dragon's attacks and techniques have an IS of Con - meaning that in the majority of circumstances, he will always be slower than anyone who fights him (if your Defender is Concentrating, your Defender will be of equal speed to the Doom Dragon when shooting, and may or may not hit him first). Some attacks even need multiple turns to charge. However, he makes up for his slow speed with attacks of tremendous powers, and the ability to absorb health.
- When to fight the Doom Dragon
- The Doom Dragon is active when Tempest announces:
- "THE DOOM DRAGON HAS RETURNED!" (on the first time, it will be "HAS ARRIVED!" instead)
- The Doom Dragon is no longer active when Tempest announces:
- "THE DOOM DRAGON VANISHES... FOR NOW!"
- Activity will sync up with Tempest's own presence; unless otherwise noted, the Dragon is active and can be fought generally for as long as Tempest is online and ready to process fighting, and will not be there when Tempest is unavailable. Action will be prioritized so that uptime is as high as possible.
- The Doom Dragon is defeated when the Defenders managed to deplete its health to zero.
- The Doom Dragon wins (and therefore the Defenders lose) if, by the time Tempest announces the end of the special event, the Doom Dragon's health has not been depleted.
- Doom Dragon's attacks and techniques
- Unlike Defenders, all of the Doom Dragon's techniques will _always succeed_; he does not need to roll for anything.
- 8 attacks and techniques:
- 1) Dragon claw: Targets a single Defender - Melee, 1 damage.
- 2) Dragon bite: Targets a single Defender - Melee, 2 damage.
- 3) Doom Fireblast: Targets a single Defender - Ranged, 3 damage. 1 turn delay before hit.
- 4) Doom Poison breath: Targets all currently fighting Defenders - Ranged, 1 damage. 1 turn delay before hit.
- 5) Consumption Bite: Targets a single Defender - Melee, 2 damage. If it kills a Defender, Doom Dragon regains 70 HP. 2 turns delay before hit.
- 6) Drain breath: Targets all currently fighting Defenders - Ranged, 1 damage. If this attack kills a Defender, Doom Dragon regains 70 HP. 2 turns delay before hit.
- 7) Nuclear acid spit: Targets a single Defender - Ranged, 3 damage. All other Defenders lose 2 HP. 3 turns delay before hit.
- 8) Exploding blob spit: Targets all currently fighting Defenders - Ranged, 3 damage. 3 turns delay before hit.
- Other combat tidbits
- You can kill yourself by applying your weapon to yourself - REGARDLESS of the weapon (no matter how gory, impractical, or unrealistic), it will result in an instant kill. Doing so causes you to lose 10 RePoints.
- You can kill another player as well, for example, in order to deny the Doom Dragon a healing kill. Doing so causes no-one to lose RePoints, but please make sure to advise fellow players before you intend to do so. Tempest reserves himself the right to deny you the ability to attack other players if he believes you're doing so for griefing or trolling purposes.

- REWARDS
- As stated, Night of the Mazes 2017 is open to all Contestants and Applicants. Every user that participates to this event has a chance to gain RePoints.
- Every 1 HP of damage inflicted by a player's Defender translates into 1 RePoints.
- Every time a player's Defender dies, that player loses 10 RePoints. (RePoints earned cannot go in the negatives, so that nobody actually loses RePoints. Obviously, but it needed to be stated. :p)
- If the Doom Dragon is defeated, everyone's earned RePoints are doubled.
- So come on in, join the fight, and kill the Dragon!
