  1. The New Country of Osmea's founding is in an independence war that took place a 47 years prior to current time. Emperor Halcyon let a group of their citizens go southward to colonize the 'Wilderlands'. The Wilderlands was place of dangerous monsters and environmental extremes; the Feywood which often is larger than the observer thinks from a horizon view, or the Badlands that host dangerous creatures that could wipe out a battalion of gunmen, or even take a Paladin to task. After a time the settlers had come to like their new home and found displeasure paying homage to an Emperor who hadn't once come to visit his people after their many hardships in expanding his Empire. Therefore, they took it into their own hands to fight back with the technology of the time: early firearms, cannonade, melee, and magic; to a lesser degree due to arcane casters being rather rare int the world. After 3 years the settlers struck a decisive victory, demanding a full Dalumian retreat from their borders. From then on Osmea was a land of its own.

  3. Now, decades later, the country revels in its freedom almost too much. Outlaws ride south, toward untamed deserts and dusty bush-lands, running from crimes they may or may not have committed. The North encroaches on lands not their own in the form of pilgrim settlers and resource scavenging teams; one can only imagine the ire of the Tribes. The only thing keeping balance in these trying times is the Church, it's clergy members and holy soldiers set to mete providence or punishment in the name of The Lady, The Sage, and The Warrior. However even the Church's influence wanes in its twilight hours, technology's advancement jading the souls of the masses.

  5. The Cradle of the North, Neverport, bears the culture of Osmean soul, large brick buildings sturdy enough to stand through the War for Independence, a Cathedral to the 3 Divinities rising high over all other rooftops, and a few townships forming to the south which sport any manner of race. The further away from the north one goes the more both the temperature and chance of encountering danger increase. Gallows Gulch, the largest pilgrim settlement, is the only true haven that is found southward, if one can call it that. It's an outpost for Bounty hunters, prospectors, outcasts, and those GODDAMN adventurers. It is in this country that fate, or duty, brings you together.
