This is the third official awards show to occur on this subreddit, following in the footsteps of the Popheads Awards (hosted by /u/Therokinrolla and /u/letsallpoo) and the Popheads Grammys (hosted by /u/_wailordfan). For this one, we will be focusing on honoring the best music videos of (roughly) the past year!

Here's how the process is going to work:

* Using [this](https://goo.gl/forms/V18BCb1ju9V8QHns1) Google form, anyone can nominate up to 5 videos per category. **Please list the artist and title of each video you are nominating.** The nominations will be open for 1 week.
* The eligibility period is **November 1st, 2017 to October 31st, 2018.** All videos nominated must be released during this time period. A video is considered released when it is first posted to YouTube on the artist's official channel; no iTunes or Tidal fuckery please. Lyric videos ARE eligible.
* The top 15 most-nominated videos in each category will be considered by a small committee of trusted users to decide the final nominations for each category. This committee is in place to enforce the boundaries of each category and to make sure that the same videos aren't nominated everywhere they're eligible (that makes for an uninteresting awards ceremony.)
* The more competitive categories will have 6 nominees, while the smaller categories will have 4. Popheads Video Vanguard will have 3.
* The final voting period will be open for 1 week, beginning a week after nominations close. The video that receives the most votes in each category will win the award.

That brings us to the categories. I eliminated the categories that overlapped with the other award shows on the subreddit, and combined some of the technical awards to make things easier for everyone. Most of them are self explanatory, but I have listed any additional information required next to the name of the category:

* **Video of the Year**
* **Best Rising Artist Video** - Any video by an artist who is in their breakthrough era (in terms of notoriety to the general public or the subreddit)
* **Best Collaborative Video** - Any video with multiple credited artists on the song
* **Best Pop Video**
* **Best Hip Hop Video**
* **Best R&B Video**
* **Best Latin Video**
* **Best EDM Video**
* **Best Rock/Indie Video**
* **Best Country Video**
* **Best LGBT Video** - Any video by an openly LGBT *lead* artist, with an emphasis on the "gayest" videos
* **Best Video with a Message** - Either the video or the song must have an overt political or social message
* **Best Technical Video** - A combination of Best Direction, Cinematography and Editing
* **Best Visuals** - A combination of Best Art Direction and Best Visual Effects
* **Best Choreography**
* **Popheads Video Vanguard** - This category involves artists, not videos. Any artist whose debut video was released before November 1st, 2008 is eligible. They also must have at least 10 videos with 100+ million views on YouTube (25 million if the artist's first album was released before the year 2000.)

The first 5 categories listed have 6 nominees, while the rest have 4 (with the exception of Popheads Video Vanguard, which has 3.)

To summarize, here is a timeline of the important dates for this contest:

* November 8th - Nominations Open
* November 15th - Nominations Close
* November 22nd - Final Nominees Announced, Voting Opens
* November 29th - Winners Announced
