» | personality: he isn't a very loud character, but he does have a certain charm about him. as an extremely athletic and sporty person, kyoungjae is competitive; losing is not something that he has in his everyday vocabulary. he is actually a fast learner, but he tends to overwork himself to the point where he has fallen unconscious in the middle of practice (which also dubbed him as one of the 'perfectionist' trainees). kyoungjae is very confident in his looks (borderline arrogant), but he's conscious about his actions and skills, knowing that there's always room for improvement. he's pretty secretive about his emotions as well, meaning he doesn't voluntarily express how he's feeling, and if someone asks he says that he's fine. if he likes someone, he'll always keep it lowkey/won't confess first in fear that he won't be accepted (and, well, he's also quite the hopeless romantic), though he does have a streak of flirting (accidentally or not) with pretty much any human with a pulse. you could also describe him as paranoid/slightly pessimistic, and thinks that people aren't really there for him and thinking of the worst outcomes. but, if you are there for him, and prove to him that you aren't just fake, he becomes extremely overprotective of you, and will probably try to beat the hell out of anyone who has the audacity to hurt any of them, no matter who it is. he has a tendency to be incredibly straightforward, and tends to get himself in trouble with the manager, but he doesn't go around trying to find trouble, always deciding to stay in the back and let the others do the talking (also because he hasn't mastered the korean language /yet/) until someone actually questions about it. the same rule applies to talking as well; narumi won't ever speak unless directly spoken to

» | background: kyoungjae was adopted by the program, so to speak. his last memory of his parents are from when he was three and they were trying to teach him how to play an small, toy piano (to no avail; after all, he was only four and had no idea about the concept). they had a life set out already, and, apparently, he didn't reach those standards as the next clear memory after that is being swarmed by smaller children that weren't siblings at five. though he doesn't remember what happened, he had accidentally set his house ablaze out of frustration when his parents were scolding him for accidentally breaking something. no one in the adoption system knew that, of course, but he was one of the children that they got a bad vibe from. other kids in the house could sense it too, which is why he was one of the feared kids in there, despite not really giving them a reason to be scared of (he was a /kid/, now that he looks back at it, they shouldn't have jumped to such conclusions). his powers weren't very active, considering no one really gave him a reason to, but sometimes he would be able to start small fires when he was incredibly sad, and he found comfort in the warmth. then he was adopted at the age of seven by a nice lady who said he had a potential inside him that he could help him improve, and kyoungjae didn't really know what it was forㅡ all that he knew was that it would take him out of the stupid adoption system. not that the guardians were horrible people, no, it was the other children he couldn't stand, so he practically /volunteered/ when the opportunity presented itself. the "company" treated him better than the system, he supposed, and slowly he began to consider them as family.
