  1. [11:24] <Zene> 'The funeral was last week.'
  2. [11:24] <Zene> Those five words came at Magnus as though fired from a gun.
  3. [11:24] <Zene> He hadn't expected something might have happened to Karen. No, he suspected it on some level, but he didn't want to believe it. Didn't want to believe his carelessness could have gotten her hurt.
  4. [11:24] <Zene> Even as this Elise - her sister - explained it to him, it still didn't click. He still didn't want to believe it.
  5. [11:24] <Zene> But the finality of it finally tore through his gut once he learned he didn't even know there was a funeral. A funeral for the one person that tried to help him, tried to believe in him when he was utterly alone, not expecting anything in return.
  6. [11:24] <Zene> Elise was sincere about it, at least. Any blame she might have wanted to give him was tempered by knowing this was just how her sister was - and even that must have been softened by seeing how quickly Magnus went into shock.
  7. [11:24] <Zene> She didn't know him and didn't really want to, but she gave him the graveyard and the spot with Karen's tombstone. He deserved the chance to mourn, too.
  8. [11:24] <Zene> Anything else in the conversation was stumbled through at best. Whatever he might have wanted to say, Magnus' thoughts were too flooded by shock to do more.
  9. [11:24] <Zene> He staggered after the grave like a man yet to realize his wound. Everything else seemed duller; unimportant. He needed to see for himself.
  10. [11:24] <Zene> And so that wish was granted.
  11. [11:24] <Zene>
  12. [11:24] <Zene> It didn't take him long to find the grave. As soon as he saw the words, the inconspicuous 'Karen Turner' carved into the stone, he realized the pain that had been throbbing, waiting for the shock to pass.
  13. [11:24] <Zene> It all hit him at once. She'd kept coming, worrying more than he was. She'd gotten desperate, afraid that he was gone. And he didn't think of a thing.
  14. [11:24] <Zene> He just took his new life, crawled into comfort, and left her behind. Left the one person to have honest faith in him to die at the hands of a degrading city's criminal districts.
  15. [11:24] <Zene> He knew himself just how dangerous it was, but he didn't try to contact her. Didn't even try to arrange something. If he had have been less self-centered... if he had have done something, anything... maybe she'd still be there. Maybe he'd have the chance to talk to her again.
  16. [11:24] <Zene> He stares at the epitaph through his blurred, tearing eyes. The cold stone has no response to give him.
  17. [11:24] <Zene> It'll never respond again.
  18. [11:24] <Zene> He'll never see her again - nobody will ever see her again, because of him——
  19. [11:25] <Zene>
  20. [11:25] <Zene>
  21. [11:25] <Zene> ——"Human lives are fragile, aren't they?" His head spins to find who - or what - is talking. But all he notices is the strange state the world outside of himself has been left in: cars are stopped in the road outside of the cemetery, other people frozen mid-walk...
  22. [11:25] <Zene> "It doesn't happen all the time," the voice continues. Finally, he notices it: a white, almost... fluffy? thing sat to his side. "But when fate conspires to it, when the stars align in just the wrong way... one of them is snuffed out. Without warning or mercy - only loss."
  23. [11:25] <Zene> If it's an animal, it's not one he's seen before. He wants to question why it's here, he should, but it.. it seems to be self-evident, as though the question itself is refusing to be asked; as though this moment is calling itself a dream, and demanding it be accepted just as it is.
  24. [11:25] <Zene> "If you could mourn, if you had closure... there would at least be some mercy in that, wouldn't there? But you don't even have a picture. The dead won't come back to life, not in this world."
  25. [11:25] <Zene> It slowly trots closer to the tombstone and jumps atop it like a perch, then turns to stare at him with its glimmering, unknowable eyes. "But in other worlds, perhaps... a force not of this world might be able to accomplish a goal impossible here. Even just for a moment."
  26. [11:25] <Zene> It pauses briefly, as though waiting for the weight of its words to land on him. "How much would that moment be worth to you, dear Magnus?" ||

  29. [11:38] <@DrEvilKitteh> Magnus Fabel just gaped dumbly at the thing for a long while--what felt like a while, rather, given how the world itself seemed to have frozen--as his brain sluggishly processed its words. “...Wh-...wha-...?” He rubbed the bridge of his nose and found his gaze dragged back to the tombstone. “...You...you mean, like...resurrection? Coming back from the dead, like, like some real Jesus
  30. [11:38] <@DrEvilKitteh> bullshit?” He swallowed, mouth and throat suddenly dry. “H-ho-...?” The question of 'How' died in his mouth and faded from his mind. It just seemed...irrelevant here, for the most part.
  31. [11:38] <@DrEvilKitteh> “...I-I guess that'd be worth a lot to me,” he muttered in a low voice. His hand idly raked through his messy wheat-colored hair, futilely smoothing it back. “To...see her again. Even...even if just for a moment.”
  32. [11:49] <Zene> "Not quite resurrection," it corrects. "The dead will remain dead. But you could have the chance to see her again still, if you would like."
  33. [11:49] <Zene> It hops off the tombstone again, trotting a slow circle about him. "There's a price - there's always a price, in life. But if you take this offer, you'll have something no human could hope to ask for. You'll have the chance to see her again. To hold her, to apologise, to tell her how you feel."
  34. [11:49] <Zene> "And it won't be for a moment, either. You may keep it for as long as it takes to satisfy - or until you stumble and lose it. The dead are even more fragile than the living."
  35. [11:49] <Zene> It comes to a stop to stare up at him yet again. "You do not have to accept, of course. If you refuse, you will be released - back to your life, just as it is."
  36. [11:49] <Zene> It turns its head to gaze into the gravestone. "Back to how you were, without her."
  37. [11:49] <Zene> "Is that the life you wish to return to?" ||
  38. [12:05] <@DrEvilKitteh> Magnus' eyes slid over to the strange animal when it came to a halt. Its words sounded...too good to be true to the logical part of his mind. It reminded him of certain drug dealers or gangs, prodding at a person's insecurities and emotional buttons in an attempt to get them to just do one more, or maintain their loyalty.
  39. [12:05] <@DrEvilKitteh> Truth be told, though, the rational part of him had practically been subsumed by grief, leaving him more despondent than at any other time he could recall in his life. And if this thing could give him the opportunity to see Karen again, talk to her again...
  40. [12:05] <@DrEvilKitteh> “I...I don't know if it is,” Magnus replied, shoulders slumping. “What's...your price? What'd I have to give to...see her again?” He shoved his hands into his pockets and stared at the creature with weary eyes.
  41. [12:14] <Zene> "Your past," it replies matter-of-factly. "You will give up your past - the man you used to be - and in doing so, gain a power no human could hope for."
  42. [12:14] <Zene> "Many humans would consider it a high price, even for a miracle they could never accomplish even if they gave their lives to it... but you, Magnus..."
  43. [12:14] <Zene> Its head swivels back to him, staring through him and into him at once. "Giving up the man you used to be is something you've already resolved to do, isn't it..?" ||

  47. [12:32] <@DrEvilKitteh> He couldn't help but snort and shake his head. “...It'd be no big loss,” said Magnus wryly. “My past is nothing but shit anyway. Was practically worthless 'til...her.” He swallowed and glanced down at his feet. The toe of one shoe rubbed against a pebble imbedded in the dirt, worrying it back and forth.
  48. [12:32] <@DrEvilKitteh> “...And now I'm about to change myself again because of her,” he mused, perhaps not completely realizing he was saying so out loud. “Wonder what she'd say about that.” After another brief silence, Magnus lifted his head to look at the creature again. “I'd already resolved to do that, yeah. And...giving up who I was? Doesn't seem like a very high price for me.” He took a deep
  49. [12:32] <@DrEvilKitteh> breath and clenched his hands into fists. “...Alright, fuzzy-wuzzy. I'll pay your price. Give me Karen, and I'll give you my past.” Whatever the hell that /actually/ meant.
  50. [12:43] <Zene> "Then the contract is complete." Its face and voice remain expressionless, relatively. And yet there is a vague air of a satisfied dealer, giving out one more hit.
  51. [12:43] <Zene> When its gaze returns to him, something else is there with the two - something between places, here and not here. "In exchange, your life will be taken... the life of Magnus Fabel. You will be something that exists beyond this world; someone not meant for this world."
  52. [12:43] <Zene> That 'something' approaches him, invisible and yet seen - a camera, a marionette, a spark, all at once - "Your life will be something from what should have been; you will be someone who never was. But you will not be alone."
  53. [12:43] <Zene> The spark forces itself into him, and there is pain - something, on some deeper level. He feels it taking root inside him; he sees two paths, intertwined inexorably like a strand of DNA, and each point they meet is him, each connection is a part of who he is.
  54. [12:43] <Zene> And then a third, brighter than the others yet utterly alone, forces itself between the two. He feels every snap, every crush as its path runs through his life, the things he's known, the memories he's made, who he is - and with each one his body and skin crack like fragile china, coming undone at the seams.
  55. [12:43] <Zene> It passes through them one by one, not destroying them, but disconnecting them - leaving them disconnected from him, them separate from him. It hurts, cracking, pushing him to the point of shattering, and then it happens, his body's coming apart and it's all going white——
  56. [12:43] <Zene>
  57. [12:43] <Zene>
  58. [12:43] <Zene> ——and then a car horn behind him snaps him out of his daze. He glances back, on reflex, but only sees someone across the street being greeted. Nothing of import.
  59. [12:43] <Zene> As he looks back to the grave to get his bearings again, two things make themselves apparent.
  60. [12:43] <Zene> The first is the way nothing seems to... look right. Not that it's changed - everything seems fine, really - but it's... off. Is it that his perspective changed, then?
  61. [12:43] <Zene> The other is.. something else, inside of him. Looking, reaching - he feels a draw from some part of himself as his eyes lay on Karen's grave... and any other grave, for that matter.
  62. [12:43] <Zene> It's like... for some reason, the word that comes to mind quickest is 'film' - these graves, these last resting places of people all around him seem.. covered in some kind of film. And at the same time, that film is the sort used in cameras; card-like tickets of pictures waiting, not quite developed. ||
  63. [12:55] <@DrEvilKitteh> Magnus releases a shaky breath and lowers the hand that had clapped to his chest; his heart was still racing from both the earlier pain, bizarre as it was, and the surprise of suddenly hearing a car horn. A couple unpleasant memories about almost getting run over raced through his mind, but he shook them away. At first, he's more concerned with the change in perception than anything else,
  64. [12:55] <@DrEvilKitteh> since he automatically wrote off the...other...stuff as a trick of the light or one of those weird fuzzy thingies in your eyes.
  65. [12:55] <@DrEvilKitteh> But as the seconds passed, his attention was inexorably drawn back to Karen's gravestone and the...'film' there. Mouthing the words 'The fuck?', Magnus hesitantly stepped closer and peered down at the...thing. It definitely wasn't a trick of the light nor an eyeball floater, not anymore. Cautiously, he knelt and reached out a hand to see if he could actually touch the film.
  66. [13:02] <Zene> It responds before he can touch it - or at least, his hand doesn't feel anything. But something... else does, like another, invisible limb - he can touch it, take hold of it.
  67. [13:02] <Zene> It doesn't do anything just like that, but it feels... loosely attached. Like it's a natural reflex to peel it off, detatch it, take it. ||
  68. [13:06] <@DrEvilKitteh> And so Magnus does. His hand curls into a loose fist as he attempts to “grip” it, then slowly and gently draw it to himself. Some part of him wondered whether anyone around would think him a lunatic, but frankly he'd gotten used to getting stares that all but screamed that during the years he was homeless, so the thought didn't particularly bother him.

  70. [13:15] <Zene> And so it is gripped. The film, invisible yet tangible, feels like... like a lace, but organic... stretching like a membrane.
  71. [13:15] <Zene> But he pulls it off, and that force within him takes it in, consumes it, develops it into the picture he had an image of.
  72. [13:15] <Zene> In his mind's eye, he can feel it.. it looks like Karen, somehow - like her in whatever she must have been wearing before she died. But it's more than just a thought or an image; as though his fingers were brushing over marbles, he can feel this... 'photo' of her as a tangible presence in his thoughts, like a physical object constructed in his mind.
  73. [13:15] <Zene> It doesn't feel... all that attached, either. ... If he took it in to develop it, what would it be if he tried to take it out again? ||
  74. [13:25] <@DrEvilKitteh> Magnus slumps back onto his butt and stares off into space. Rather, he stared at the image that had formed in his mind. The...strangely /physical/ image. What exactly was it? What could he do with it...?
  75. [13:25] <@DrEvilKitteh> He dimly realized his hands were trembling. Again, Magnus balled his hands into fists and breathed haltingly through his mouth. When he was ready, he relaxed a hand and reached out before himself, and still his eyes were sightlessly focused on that mental picture. He wasn't sure /how/ exactly to do it, but...Magnus tried making a gesture as though he were drawing a card and dealing it
  76. [13:25] <@DrEvilKitteh> face-up; it seemed easier to do than just “willing” the image to be taken out and presented.
  77. [13:30] <Zene> It's a bit awkward to get a feel for at first, but very quickly places itself in his grasp. Like a limb he simply hadn't used for a long time, it comes almost disconcertingly naturally when he wants to move it.
  78. [13:30] <Zene> He pulls it out of himself, before him and the tombstone, and in that space... 'flips' it over, as though taking a card only he knew and baring its face to the world.
  79. [13:30] <Zene> Like a miracle, an azure, otherworldly glow infuses itself into the air in front of him... no, breathes forth from beyond an inscrutable veil. And as it arrives, it comes in the shape of... of her.
  80. [13:30] <Zene> Karen.
  81. [13:30] <Zene> It still looks like it must be a.. hallucination, or a mirage, tinted and translucent as it is... but still in a way reminiscent of a ghost. ||

  83. [13:36] <@DrEvilKitteh> His jaw dropped. Had it been possible, it would've hit the earth so hard some poor sap in China would've stumbled upon it.
  84. [13:36] <@DrEvilKitteh> When his voice returned to him and his mouth stopped opening and closing like a fish, Magnus pushed himself forward onto his knees. “Karen? I-is that you? Can you hear me?” The last couple words were affected by his trembling lower lip, which he wasn't even bothering to try controlling.
  85. [13:47] <Zene> She tilts her head down to look at him, but...
  86. [13:47] <Zene> ... she doesn't respond.
  87. [13:47] <Zene> She's - she's definitely there, unless this is an increasingly complex hallucination. The grass is even crushed at her feet.
  88. [13:47] <Zene> But her face - it's like she's on the other side of a television screen; like she isn't actually aware of what's happening on his side of the world, despite her reaction.
  89. [13:47] <Zene> ... it's her in image, all right... but not in personality. The face-up card in human form simply stands there, unmoving, watching him as though waiting for its next instruction. ||
  90. [13:55] <@DrEvilKitteh> Magnus' vision swam from tears, and not for just one reason. There was this pit in his stomach that gnawed at him when she just stared blankly at him without so much as a hint of her previous cheery personality, but equally there was joy and relief that /it had worked/, that she was /standing/ before him. Even...if it wasn't all that he'd hoped.
  91. [13:55] <@DrEvilKitteh> The man rose onto shaky legs and hesitantly reached for the ghost of Karen's shoulder. It--she--had to be physical, right? The grass /was/ flattened beneath her feet. So...so he should be able to touch her.
  92. [13:55] == Carmine [~Carmine@Commissar.Carmine] has joined #MGChronicle
  93. [14:02] <Zene> 'Karen' keeps watching him, passively. His hand takes grasp of her shoulder without any issue, but there's no warmth to it. There's no temperature at all, really - she seems physically present, solid, but that's all.
  94. [14:02] <Zene> There might be some distant realization, some lingering thought of his... shifted perspective, compared to how Karen used to look from where he would stand. But maybe this bittersweet miracle would take up too much of his thoughts to notice. ||
  95. [14:08] <@DrEvilKitteh> Frankly, he didn't care so much about his own altered perspective at that moment. Magnus just couldn't look away from Karen's face, her eyes. They were /hers/, and...yet they weren't. The mixed feelings continued to churn within his gut, making him feel mildly sick.
  96. [14:08] <@DrEvilKitteh> He stomached those feelings as best he could and finally gave in--Magnus all but flew the rest of the distance between himself and the image of Karen. His arms wrapped around her tightly, and his eyes squeezed shut, causing a few tears to leak out as he gave a single sob. “I'm s-so sorry, I-I shouldn't've b-been so selfish... I shouldn't've l-let you d-d-die... I'm s-sorry... I'm
  97. [14:08] <@DrEvilKitteh> sorry...”

  99. [14:18] <Zene> The image... continues to simply stand there, blankly. But it doesn't reject him or his feelings.
  100. [14:18] <Zene> Time passes just like that, with his tears running down the translucent, solid figure of the friend he lost. Concerns over his perspective - and his voice, pitch waxing higher with his sob - remain too weak to pierce the veil of grief for now.
  101. [14:18] <Zene> Still, it seems he has some luck left. Nobody's shouted yet about someone hugging a ghost. Graveyards aren't often well-populated by the living. ||
  102. [14:25] <@DrEvilKitteh> At last, the sobbing came to an end. Magnus sniffed several times and rubbed his nose, then wiped his cheeks with his sleeve. “...I wish you would talk to me,” he mumbled, red eyes staring into Karen's. “Or do something. Anything.” He rubbed his eyes with his knuckles. “I'm glad I can see and feel you, but...” Magnus shook his head tiredly. That sentence didn't really bear
  103. [14:25] <@DrEvilKitteh> finishing.
  104. [14:33] <@DrEvilKitteh> When his eyes fell upon the still-unmoving see-through form of Karen, he sighed. He wanted to stare at her for days, but he knew he wouldn't be able to stand it if he did. He'd go mad from it, from her lack of response and true personality. It was merely a shell of Karen, a mirror. It wasn't the real thing, and he knew that even if just letting loose and crying for a while had been somewhat
  105. [14:33] <@DrEvilKitteh> cathartic.
  106. [14:33] <@DrEvilKitteh> Once more, Magnus reached out, gently took hold of her shoulder only partly reluctantly, and attempted to turn the ghostly being face down.
  107. [14:41] <Zene> It works just fine - the card's still in his head even when it's out there. He's just.. hiding the face from the world once again.
  108. [14:41] <Zene> 'Karen' fades back into nonexistence as though she was never there to begin with, save for the still-present footprints where she stood.
  109. [14:41] <Zene> Magnus, then, is left back on his own. All the other graves still have that same feeling, and it's not difficult to figure out exactly what it means for those ones.
  110. [14:41] <Zene> Karen's feels... empty - he's already taken from it. Seems like taking uses something up, and who knows if it'll come back. ||
  111. [14:48] <@DrEvilKitteh> He'd have to be careful, then; he didn't want to lose Karen again. Even if she was only an image. It was better than nothing. Magnus sighed and rubbed his temples with his fingertips. His gaze wandered, then fell upon the grave directly beside Karen's.
  112. [14:48] <@DrEvilKitteh> So then. He glanced around to make sure no one was near or looking, then shuffled over an reached for the film hanging there. Magnus tested it to see if he could also pull it into himself like he had for Karen's. Idly, he glanced down at the headstone to read the name of the person whose grave he was...basically pilfering.
  113. [14:55] <Zene> The ethereal film in... uh... a 'Samuel Black's grave comes peeling off with the same sort of sensation as happened with Karen's, depleting it for something to process and develop inside of him.
  114. [14:55] <Zene> And then he has... another card. This one of a man, probably in his late thirties or early fourties. ... Yeah, according to the headstone, he was thirty-nine. Died a couple years back.
  115. [14:55] <Zene> And now his likeness is in a mental photograph in Magnus' head. One he could project out and make manifest at any time. ||
  116. [15:10] <@DrEvilKitteh> Magnus took a deep breath as he looked over the new mental picture.
  117. [15:10] <@DrEvilKitteh> Interesting. Very interesting. It had felt about the same as when he'd taken Karen's...whatever, so...hm. He wondered how many “cards” he could take, and if he could flip more than one face-up at a time...
  118. [15:10] <@DrEvilKitteh> Such thoughts still whirled about in his mind as he pursed his lips. A thought, or maybe several, had come back to Magnus. There...was the whole shift in perspective that he'd mostly ignored 'til now. So what had caused that...?
  119. [15:10] <@DrEvilKitteh> He looked down at himself, at first wondering if, somehow, his legs had become shorter or something. What he ended up staring at was a completely unexpected thing. “Uhh...” His head snapped up and he cast his gaze about wildly. Was there a fucking bathroom around here? He'd sworn he'd noticed one somewhere nearby...

  121. [15:14] <Zene> In a graveyard... not likely. The only visible 'structures' are mausoleums at best.
  122. [15:14] <Zene> Looking around, though... there's a gas station a ways down the road - that should have a bathroom he can use without being questioned, right? ||
  123. [15:19] <@DrEvilKitteh> Ah. Of course. That's probably what he'd spotted. Well, better than nothing...
  124. [15:19] <@DrEvilKitteh> Magnus stuffed his hands into his pockets again and began to briskly stride for the graveyard's exit and, subsequently, head for the gas station. He did his best to not appear too panicked or shifty as he arrived at the establishment, and fortunately he'd had a bit of practice at that. Subtly, he glanced around to see where exactly the bathroom was. If outside, perfect. If inside, well,
  125. [15:19] <@DrEvilKitteh> hopefully no one would look at him twice if he just kept his head down and went to a restroom to look into a mirror.
  126. [15:28] <Zene> He pushes the door open and is welcomed by a small rush of cooled air. This gas station isn't much by any means, but at least it has some A/C to ward off the heat of mid-May.
  127. [15:28] <Zene> The cashier looks like a kid, despite his age; like someone whose body decided to skip forward a couple years before he stopped being a teenager.
  128. [15:28] <Zene> Magnus gets a look from him, but it doesn't seem suspicious. Relieved, in a way - something broke up the monotony of awaiting customers in an otherwise empty little store.
  129. [15:28] <Zene> Magnus heads further in and swiftly finds the restroom. With the employee's toll of an interesting sight paid, no objection comes. Or perhaps even he can see the sense in not stopping to buy something from this place.
  130. [15:28] <Zene> Magnus pushes the door to the men's room open and finds a poorly-maintained mirror on the wall. Scratched and cracked in a few places, it nonetheless perfectly does its job of showing him what's before it:

  132. [15:40] <@DrEvilKitteh> “...Fuck me sideways,” Magnus swore, as did the girl in the mirror. He leaned closer and poked at his own cheeks. The girl mimicked him, poking at...brown-ish cheeks. And he couldn't help but notice that his skin looked...fairly nice. “The fuck? Did I become Latino or Arabic all of a sudden?,” he muttered under his breath. Magnus mussed his hair, and the girl mussed her wavy
  133. [15:40] <@DrEvilKitteh> shoulder-length locks.
  134. [15:40] <@DrEvilKitteh> It suddenly occurred to him that, if he was seeing everything right (and another look down confirmed that he was, unless he'd suddenly developed a very bizarre case of schizophrenia), it proooobably wasn't the wisest idea to be in the men's restroom. Especially if he wanted to lay low.
  135. [15:40] <@DrEvilKitteh> Magnus quickly darted out and sidled over to the women's, which hopefully wasn't occupied. Aaand hopefully no one was immediately nearby to spot his switcharoo.
  136. [15:47] <Zene> The only person who might have been able to see would have been that employee, but too bad for him, the bathrooms are out of his view.
  137. [15:47] <Zene> Nobody's in the women's bathroom, either. It's about the same, save for the fact that the tiles have incredibly cheap flower prints instead of being just white. Or, well, what was probably just white when they were first installed.
  138. [15:47] <Zene> ... That mirror, of course, shows just the same thing. As do his own eyes when he looks at himself, for that matter. ||
  139. [16:08] <@DrEvilKitteh> He locked the door behind himself and just /glared/ at the girl in the mirror for a long moment. After a time, he stalked closer and began to examine her again. Decent-looking teeth, brown hair, /maybe/ brown eyes--they could've been more amber in different lighting--and...not his normal clothing. It fit him, so women's of some kind. Casual. About what you'd expect of the average girl to
  140. [16:08] <@DrEvilKitteh> wear, at least around here.
  141. [16:08] <@DrEvilKitteh> ...Could be worse. Magnus could be stuck in oversized, baggy clothing and shoes. At least he had /one/ set of clothing that fit his...new form.
  142. [16:08] <@DrEvilKitteh> “...Fucking fuzzball wasn't kidding when it said I'd lose my past,” he grumbled. He then poked his tongue into his cheek and glanced down again, mulling something over.
  143. [16:08] <@DrEvilKitteh> ...Well. It'd happen sooner or later.
  144. [16:08] <@DrEvilKitteh> Magnus growl-sighed and gave the girl in the mirror a deadpan look. She gave one right back. He hooked his fingers under the bottom of the shirt and, without hesitation, pulled it up all the way to his chin, exposing the entire front of his torso. Magnus whistled softly and gave the girl's chest a sideways look. “So that's what a bra feels like. And...tits. Jeez, talk about fucking
  145. [16:08] <@DrEvilKitteh> weird.” He prodded at them experimentally, then stopped after a couple seconds and the way the girl in the mirror made a funny face.
  146. [16:08] <@DrEvilKitteh> “Alright, alright...” His mind began to race again as he pulled his shirt down and adjusted it a little. “Shit.” Magnus' hands flew to his pockets to try and find the stuff he'd had on his person before the whole...turning into a chick thing happened. “Fucking women's clothing and its fucking pockets,” he grunted under his breath.
  147. [16:23] <Zene> His patting his own body to search for pockets doesn't turn up much. The pants pockets are mostly for display, as would be expected. They don't quite lack function entirely, though: his pocket knife is in one of them, fit smoothly enough that he could draw it in an emergency.
  148. [16:23] <Zene> The purse he sat down to free himself up to prod his... her... own chest might have something more, too.
  149. [16:23] <Zene> ...
  150. [16:23] <Zene> Wait, he had a purse?
  151. [16:23] <Zene> Huh. Yeah, it... it's there. Been there, thinking about it. Modest in both make and size, but it's almost creepy how naturally and unthinkingly it fits on him.
  152. [16:23] <Zene> Inside that lies his wallet, with two tens, four fives, three ones, and a couple of quarters and nickels. There's a state ID card, too. Besides that is his cellphone - not even he went without getting one in this day and age, at least once he got his life relatively together. It's cheap and pre-used; function well over fashion. ||
  153. [16:37] <@DrEvilKitteh> “...This is seriously creepy,” Magnus whispered as he eyed the purse. He hadn't even /noticed/ it. That was some messed up shit right there. Still, at least it held everything he'd had on his person; there weren't any missing items so far as he could tell. And it wasn't too difficult to wear, either, which was always nice. He slung the purse over his shoulder and turned to stare at
  154. [16:37] <@DrEvilKitteh> the girl in the mirror one last time.
  155. [16:37] <@DrEvilKitteh> ...As far as girls were concerned, he could've ended up in a much worse body.
  156. [16:37] <@DrEvilKitteh> Magnus shook those thoughts away and exited the bathroom. He headed for the doors and didn't make eye contact with the kid employee or any of the customers that may have been around. He was too occupied with what the hell to do next, and he figured that “next” was to return home. Grab some food, rest a little, and decide what the step after was. So, how to get to his apartment...
  157. [16:37] <@DrEvilKitteh> A bus? Possibly. He'd have to find a bus stop and double-check the schedule there. Walking? Doable, but it might take a while. And he'd stay safe as long as he stuck to the streets that had some people around, which shouldn't be too difficult.
  158. [16:37] <@DrEvilKitteh> For now, Magnus headed for the closest bus stop, assuming there was actually one nearby.
