- Lola was finally invited to hang out with her siblings while they share their secrets with each other. Having redeemed herself of her blabbermouth reputation, she finally had the opportunity to be a part of their honesty hour. But she missed so much. So many secrets they shared without her, and she wanted to hear it all. But she didn't want her brother and sisters to just tell her their secrets, simple as that. No, no.
- She had to make it interesting. Unearth secrets never told while being caught up. And what better way for a six year old to spice up a get-together than a game of truth or dare?
- "So, Leni..." Lola smiled deviously as she rolled over from one side of Lori's bed to the other.
- Leni, sitting on her bed while painting Luna's nails a 3rd Street Violet, turned her head to Lola with a cocked eyebrow and that perpetually oblivious smile plastered on her face.
- "Like, is it my turn again?" Leni's hands continued to attempt to paint Luna's nails despite not paying attention anymore. She stopped painting fingernails and started painting fingers. Luna noticed.
- "Why, indeed it is!" She said, laying face-up with her head hanging upside down over the edge of the bed; slowly raising her gloved hand and pointing straight at Leni "Truuuuth?
- "Or dare?" Her eyes narrowed as her smile widened, her missing tooth becoming all the more noticeable.
- Leni rolled her eyes inquisitively, deep in thought as her hands unconsciously continued to dab paint all over Luna's fingers; completely unaware that her grip on Luna's hands tightened considerably whenever she tried to pry her hands free.
- "Truth!" She let go of one of Luna's hands to point her index finger upward as she said it, adding a degree of conviction to her decision. Luna immediately took advantage of Leni releasing her hand to wrench her other hand free. Instead, Leni's grip tightened even more.
- "Alright. Who was the first boy you kissed?"
- Lola rolled over again, resting her cheeks on her hands with a look of benign smugness on her face as she awaited Leni's response. Leni places her still pointing finger on her chin in contemplation, thinking back through the years. Far, far back. Like...middle school? Oh yeah!
- "Gerald Nickelby! Like, we kissed during eighth grade prom." Her beaming smile faded somewhat upon remembering more details about Gerald. Luna was ragged and breathless as her fingers turned purple from Leni's death grip. Leni still didn't notice.
- "Good thing mom never found out, though. She totes didn't want me to date him cuz his grades were bad. And, like, his brother was in the Vice Kings."
- Leni seemed somber remembering her childhood love.
- "Leni, love; couldja let go of me hand?" Luna asked wearily, slumped back in resignation as the lack of circulation in her fingers numbed her whole hand. Leni glanced over and immediately recoiled as she realized how hard she was squeezing her younger sister's hand.
- "Oh my gosh, Luna! I'm totes sorry! Like, why didn't you say something sooner?"
- "Good question, dude." Luna rubbed her sore hand, trying to mitigate the pins and needles feeling as the blood rushed back in. Lola, however, was satisfied with her answer. She sat up on her knees and clapped her hands softly, like a dutchess at an opera. Prim, proper, and with a condescending smirk.
- "Excellent! Excellent! Now. Lincoln!" She turned her head to Lincoln, who was sitting on the floor writing poetry with Lucy. Her villainous smile curled her lips once again as her pearly whites made their incomplete return.
- "Same question!"
- "What?" Lincoln looks up from the piece he was proofreading for Lucy. "Sorry, Lola, I wasn't paying attention. What was the question?"
- Lola, annoyed, but somewhat amused by Lincoln's sincerity, rested her chin on her hands while sitting crosslegged, clearly enjoying her time spent with her siblings. Lori was slightly annoyed at Lola's constant fidgeting as she read her magazine.
- "Right, right, right. Truth or dare?"
- "Oh, uh...truth, I guess." Lincoln didn't bother to look up from the piece of paper, not giving much thought to his answer.
- "Alright. Same question as Leni! Who was your first kiss?"
- Lola assumed it was Ronnie Anne. After all, she was there when she punched Lincoln in the face after it happened. But if there were something that happened sooner...well, she wanted to know about it.
- "Oh, it was Lori." Lincoln didn't even hesitate when he answered. Everyone stopped. Lori buried her face in her magazine, digging her fingers into the cover of the book to avoid everyone's stares boring into her.
- "W-...what?" Lola's voice cracked at the answer that ambushed her, "I-it wasn't Annie Ron--Ronnie Anne?"
- "What? No, it wasn't. I mean, this was a long time ago." Lincoln was completely unfazed by everyone's floored silence, still completely immersed in the poem Lucy wrote. Lucy herself had lost all interest in poetry in light of what she just heard.
- "Lincoln." Lucy grabbed Lincoln's shoulders calmly while trying to coax more out of him with her monotone, "Tell us the story."
- Lincoln looked around anxiously. He didn't understand why everyone except Lori was staring so hard at him.
- "Well, when I was in kindergarten we were going on a field trip to the zoo. Lori was with us for some reason and while we were in the reptile room she took me to a dark corner and forced me to--"
- "LINCOLN!" Lori threw the magazine at Lincoln's face to get him to stop the story. Her face was so bright red it was practically radioactive. She was frozen in her throwing stance, standing very conspicuously on top of her bed. Her face was burning intensely as she felt the judging eyes of all her sisters hitting her like heat vision. She scurries in her mind for an explanation.
- "I--he just--we were, uh..." She slumped in defeat, making confident eye contact with the floor as her arms slacked to her sides.
- "I just wanted to see what it was like..."
- The room was dominated by an awkward and extremely uncomfortable silence, the likes of which not seen since Luan told that 9/11 pun during the annual moment of silence. Nobody wanted to be the first to speak, leaving the room so quiet it was almost deafening. Lori's eyes darted back and forth, hoping someone would give an understanding nod or something. Scanning the room, she noticed that everyone was more confused than distraught or angry.
- "I just--I didn't think he'd remember--"
- She clams up, realizing she'd just dug herself deeper. As the beads of sweat started collecting on her forehead, she felt the need to redeem herself. Justify herself.
- "Well, what do you guys want from me?! I was literally eleven!" She stamped her foot on the floor indignantly.
- "So's Lincoln!" Luan retorted, in a rare scowl, "But you don't see him all over Lana!"
- Lincoln and Lana looked at each other in sideways glances; both unable to visualize what Luan just suggested. Lori sat on the edge of the bed next to Lola, sniffling at the accusations. Lola scooched away almost an imperceptably small range; nervous to be around Lori lest she be assaulted as well.
- "It's just--none of the boys in my class wanted to. Or they were just too...weird."
- "W-what's the big deal? It wasn't a bad kiss. This was before before Lori got braces, too!"
