- The 108 Shards - Both the name of the story and the setting it takes place in. The story which first prominently portrays Meta travel, albeit in a more limited form compared to some later ones - taking place within the "108 Shards," a network of 108 Shards which have been linked together by causeways but those from within can't actually exit the network itself, meaning the multiverse is limited to just these 108 for the story, meaning it's a more comfortable place to introduce Meta travel and the like than going full on in right away. It focuses on two young girls who were just walking from their school when suddenly a MASSIVE being of extremely bizarre design (think of the Angelarium art series) called an Arbiter Titan appeared on the horizon, and seconds later they were teleported to a place they don't recognize, and are nearly attacked and killed by a group of bandits before being saved by a fox-like woman who takes them in as a children. However, wanting to escape and get back home from this strange, otherworldly place, they take the advice of a mysterious red blob - just called Red - and she tries to teach them unique skills in order to escape their new adoptive mother, who doesn't want them to leave the house out of worry they'll be killed or worse out there, especially after they are attacked by a group of beings with a truly strange and disturbing appearance one night while trying to escape late at night. They eventually do escape and follow Red's advice to go find somebody she says can take them off world, only for her to be an ominous, masked wizard type who sent the creatures from earlier and was expressly trying to capture them for unknown and ominous reasons. While they do survive thanks to the sudden intervention of their new mother, they realize it's hopeless trying to escape on their own, even with what they learned from Red - who had revealed herself to be an insane, Flowey-esque bastard around the time they found the mysterious woman. Despite this, the mother decides she can't just keep them here if they're unhappy, and decides to go with them on a journey across the Shards to try and find their way back home - and hopefully gather the other people who were lost when the Titan manifested - and they soon find themselves in a strange adventure across an insanely varied number of irrevocably changed settings and locations to explore and bizarre enemies, allies, and encounters to experience along the way.. but the question is, with how much these other worlds have changed from their original state, what says that something similar couldn't have happened to their home...?
- A story I'm particularly fond of, and alongside Calling the one I've written the most in preparation for. It's very hard to describe the world just in a summary which is a shame, but I'm sure ill start showing you Shard bios soon which will make things clearer much more quickly - even if, being setting descriptions, they're light on characters or interaction in the most cases. Very interesting setting and a contained example of the unique world and politics of the Meta, in addition to featuring a lot of unique changes in worlds from old.
