✧| BACKGROUND ;
⠀⠀↳ daiyu's parents' split up when she was around 10. they ended their relationship on a good note, though. while her parents separated, she lived with her mother since her house was closer to the city. daiyu's wish sounded impossible, but she'd always hope for them to get back together even though the probability was slim.
⠀⠀↳ she wasn't even 12 when her mother returned home one day after work with a man whom she invited for dinner. daiyu wasn't matured yet but she knew well when the three had dinner together, her mother and the man were in love with each other. sooner enough, it was revealed that he was a single parent to a boy who's younger than her by a year as well.
⠀⠀↳ no surprises, her mother and the man married months after and the two moved into her stepfather's house, which was quite larger. daiyu had no problems communicating with her new family members, though. her new father was nice and her younger brother clicked with her well, but she felt uncomfortable at times, which is why she'd come over to her biological father's house once in a while. he planned to not remarry and somehow, daiyu was grateful of that.
⠀⠀↳ daiyu got into cube after she was street-casted by a cube staff for her looks, during a weekend when she was spending time with her father. after much discussion with all of her family members, she agreed to audition and passed with satisfying results. and that's how daiyu moved to korea to start anew there alone.
⠀⠀↳ she wasn't able to speak korean from the start so she attended korean lessons everyday. most of the time, daiyu was alone due to ethnicity difference and her taciturn personality with the other trainees but she was able to make some, starting from the chinese trainees, yanan (pentagon) and elkie (clc).
⠀⠀↳ by 2016, right after her monthly evaluation, she was told that she would be moving out from the company. at first, daiyu did not agree with transferring and discussed with the manager about it but eventually she had to. she proceeded her training under provoke after signing with the label.

✧| PERSONALITY ;
⠀⠀↳ introverted / she barely speaks and even opening up a conversation with her is hard. it's in her genes; her father is also a quiet person so his personality was passed down onto her. for a foreigner, it's hard to even talk in korean and adding the fact that she can't express her opinion well because of her personality it also irritates her for being unable to do so.
⠀⠀↳ shy / daiyu has difficulties in making eye contact with a person for more than 3 seconds. for every stranger she talks to, she blushes and avoid their eyes (she tries to improve this to survive fansign events). she can't make friends easily and it takes a lot of time for her to open up to another person.
⠀⠀↳ fragile / if she's frustrated or stressed out, she cries. daiyu is a sensitive person who can't stand pressure if it's pun upon her. she easily breaks down at the mention of her parents and family whom she dearly misses. daiyu continuously trains herself to make her wall stronger— she didn't want to be a crybaby who sobs at every harsh criticism she receives.
⠀⠀↳ innocent / she's that member who never curses and even if she heard bad words being thrown from here to there, she would never attempt to spit it out. even if she does curse she'd substitute the vulgar words into something else. they are pretty sure she's too pure to know what sex is or how to kiss properly either.
⠀⠀↳ positive / she tries to think of every situation has a good meaning, despite how bad could it be. maybe missing the bus has it's pros— or even having her house caught on fire. she radiates positivity in attempt to make her group more brighter and worry-free. that way, they have no problems to think about.
⠀⠀↳ composed / never once daiyu had lashed out at someone before. she's usually calm and would keep it to herself if she's angry or mad at a certain someone, saying to them "nah, i'm not angry." when she's actually boiling inside. so a livid daiyu is something the members have yet to see.
⠀⠀↳ smart / coming out from high school as a top30, daiyu actually has a logical thinking when it comes to brainstorming. she's one of the only members who use their brains for a good purpose.
⠀⠀↳ clumsy / it would be believable if she trips on air or run into a glass door. daiyu isn't very aware of her surroundings and gets distracted to easily— you won't even be surprised if she gets kidnapped in a bat of an eyelash. she broke her phone twice after letting it fall from the stairs, injure herself in the kitchen without knowing when or how and lost at least four of her glasses.
⠀⠀↳ hardworking / daiyu is a very dedicated person to her career. once she started training she never stopped or think about quitting for once despite going through all the tough obstacles. if she's not satisfied with herself, she wouldn't stop until she's close to passing out. all she wanted in return was her hard work being paid off in the end.
⠀⠀↳ charismatic / the "reversal charms" persona currently had been going around idols as a trend and daiyu's following it. she's a different person on-stage when delivering performances. from head to toe she's a whole different person; a confident woman who's ready to take over the stage with her talent. she gives it all into it and when she returns back to off-stage, she'd stutter, "d-did the performance came out well?" in nervousness.

⠀⠀↳ park belly / she never ate it once before coming to korea. at her first try at the nearby restaurant in front of the entertainment building, she already fell in love.
⠀⠀↳ cats / daiyu is more of a cat person and she once owned two cats— a tabby and maine coon back in harbin but she had to let it go because her step brother was allergic to cats and her biological father was too busy to take care of them.
⠀⠀↳ milk / she grew up drinking it ever since she was small. her mother would always buy bulks of it every month for daiyu.
⠀⠀↳ pororo / a korean animation which she always watches in the dorm after practice. never gets tired of it even on reruns and she also has plushies of each of the characters.

⠀⠀↳ pale colors / daiyu is a soft person so she's likely to own soft-colored things. she likes to keep her closet aesthetic in bambi colors. it's very rare to see her wearing black or dark. even if she does, she most probably borrowed the clothes from someone.
⠀⠀↳ strawberries / supposedly because her grandparents owned a strawberry farm back in china, her family always received a truckload of strawberries and she'd be waiting for them every year. daiyu's shampoo and perfume is also strawberry-scented— a favorite of hers.
⠀⠀↳ sandals / daiyu proclaims them to be the most comfortable footwear and also is able to do dance practices using sandals well instead of sneakers or sport shoes.
⠀⠀↳ taeyeon / snsd's taeyeon will always be her idol. daiyu looked up to her the most in the industry and she has a complete playlist with all of taeyeon's songs in them and name it "MY QUEEN".

⠀⠀↳ coffee / she hates the smell of coffee beans and this is why she rarely goes to cafés.
⠀⠀↳ lavenders / it makes her nose irritated and she'd sneeze nonstop when inhaling the scent of it.

⠀⠀↳ dancing / she has low stamina and it's hard for her to keep up with the other members. she often gets scolded for not improving her dancing skills. she admitted that she's bad at it but at least she tries to work on it in order to debut.
⠀⠀↳ diets / compared to other trainees, she on the average but the company still needed them to diet in order to maintain their weight and daiyu hates not eating her food when she's supposed to be. she tries to think positively on it though.

⠀⠀↳ cooking / using all the recipes she found in the internet, daiyu makes great meals for her group with a little bit of help.
⠀⠀↳ singing / adapted singing right after she trained and continuously do so as she was told she has a nice singing voice and she should debut as a vocalist, but it eventually became a hobby of hers to sing at every single time.

⠀⠀↳ large octave ranges / being a main vocal, daiyu trained for a long time fixing her voice and controlling it so she's able to sing with a large variety of octaves.

⠀⠀↳ knitting / also considers this as a talent since only a few people of her age can do it.

⠀⠀↳ daiyu began training in 2014 under cube entertainment and only trained for a year under provoke entertainment.
⠀⠀↳ she has poor eyesight so she had to wear contacts all the time (she prefers wearing contacts rather than glasses).
⠀⠀↳ she also has a low immune system and gets sick easily by every season, which is a very troublesome thing for her group and company whenever they plan a comeback.
⠀⠀↳ she plans to adopt a cat now that she's living away from her family.
⠀⠀↳ daiyu graduated from school of performing arts. she enrolled in the school years ago when she first arrived in korea.
⠀⠀↳ her best friend is pristin's jieqiong. they were in the same class in their high school and were also seatmates. and they can relate with each other since both were chinese and work in the same industry.
⠀⠀↳ aside from taeyeon, she also looks up to ailee, hyolyn and davichi as people wanted to be.
⠀⠀↳ she almost dropped out from the industry due to her lacks of skills in dancing.

⠀⠀↳ even though daiyu sings well, she often gets criticized for her wrong pronunciation of words. she tries to work on that, somehow.
⠀⠀↳ daiyu's dream is to win awards in music shows as a member of gem, and also to meet taeyeon and her celebrity crush nam joohyuk whom she fell in love after watching school 2015.
⠀⠀↳ she often says cheesy words to her group members like, "i hope we stay together for long" or "i will forever cherish the moments i have with gem" which makes them cringe. they tell her to stop but she doesn't care.
⠀⠀↳ for her individual fandom, she'd like to call her fans "ointment" as her name means "treatment" as joke, but in the end her fans really did call themselves ointment. she didn't expect it but she thanked them for hearing her out anyways.
⠀⠀↳ daiyu's a left-handed and her writing is bad, as told by a lot. she can't write well and whatever she writes, only a few can understand. she also mistook korean characters at times and had wrong spellings.
⠀⠀↳ apparently, whenever daiyu cooks someone needs to watch over her, just in case. they don't really trust daiyu being in the kitchen alone after the incident where she almost burned a chicken in the oven or she always hurts herself without knowing.

⠀⠀↳ it was during daiyu's turn to do the groceries for her group (during trainee days). they insisted on her to bring someone along but she said it was fine. in the store, she accidentally bumped carts with another person and she apologized. the other person was wearing a cap so she couldn't see his face at first, but when lifted up his head she was beyond shocked to see her brother jian. but it turned out it wasn't her brother; it was hwiyoung, who apparently has similar features with her brother. he began explaining he's in an idol group named sf9. honestly she didn't know who the hell sf9 was but she just greeted him as a junior. he was hella confused when she called him "senior" but when he wanted an explanation from her, she was already gone.

✧| FIRST IMPRESSIONS ;
⠀⠀↳ daiyu still couldn't move on the fact that hwiyoung looks like her brother so she wanted to meet him again and confirm he's not jian. she began asking her group members more about sf9 (not hwiyoung specifically because that'd be more suspicious).
⠀⠀↳ overall, he thought she was a weird person who uses broken korean but the fact that she called him "senior" made him wonder more about her. he knew it would be close to impossible to see someone who you accidentally bumped into in a grocery store, but he needed an explanation. he tried to shrug it off though, as it wasn't that much of a big deal.

✧| RELATIONSHIP ;
⠀⠀↳ they went off from acquaintances first after hwiyoung knew she was a junior of his. after meeting for the second time, hwiyoung found her on instagram using his private account and talked to her for a whole week, but then he decided they should just text each other on kakao since it's less troublesome. their relationship apparently grew until to the fact that she called him using his real name (youngkyun), and him referring as as (ms. daiyu) as a joke, since she was older and he didn't want to call her "noona" (so he stuck with calling her by her real name).

⠀⠀↳ they saw each other again around the area of their dorms, and it turns out their groups lived in the same apartment complex. honestly, she usually had a hard time communicating but hwiyoung makes her comfortable so she's okay.

⠀⠀↳ constant monitoring on each other's performance stages / variety shows. then one would comment on the other about it. eg; "your performance is great today" "i watched your live broadcast on v-app. you seem tired smh slEeP!" "never thought you're a funny person."
⠀⠀↳ daiyu let him have a video call with her brother jian. jian had been notified by her that hwiyoung's sf9 looks like him but once the two guys saw each other, they were like, "we don't look the same at all??" daiyu concluded her eyes had been playing with her all along.
⠀⠀↳ she gathered up all the courage she ha hand and confessed to hwiyoung through text (which is a big thing to her since she's very introverted), but he replied with, "well, i need to think about it." then there were no more texts exchanged between the two. they met up at a broadcasting station soon after though, and she avoided him like the plague.

⠀⠀↳ he advised her to exercise daily to keep being healthy but she rejects the whole idea of exercising due to her low stamina and just keep healthy by dieting. he scolded her that just dieting won't make a person healthy. basically just because of this they got into a whole fight (but hwiyoung lost and admitted he was wrong to force her to exercise in the first place).
