Bowser and Samus were lethal in their work. With every swing of a sword or swipe of a claw, bodies would fall apart and then disappear into black smoke. Through gaps in their movements, Robin recognized some, not all, but some of the figures. Robin had seen their placid faces around town when they got the tour earlier. They weren’t placid now.

Bowser and Samus were the front lines, Robin and Sheik were the back. When a few of the people, or, the things, slipped through the assault, slipped under Samus’s arm as she raised it to strike another or managed to speed through Bowser’s maw as he tried to bite one’s head off, quite often they found themselves slashed at the throat by Sheik and her dagger.
