- [18:22] Rhesus isn't sleeping. He's just handling paperwork again. Life is busy.
- He looks away momentarily to gander upon Seifer.
- "Yes?"
- (Rhesus DeLaurentis)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [18:22] Seifer Gardios asks, "Do you have the time for a few questions?"
- [18:22] Seifer Gardios says, "It's for an assignment of mine."
- [18:22] Rhesus DeLaurentis asks, "Pertaining to...?"
- [18:23] Seifer Gardios asks, "The assignment or the questions?"
- [18:23] Rhesus DeLaurentis says, "The assignment."
- [18:24] Seifer Gardios says, "The Headmaster asked me to complete it in order to better pave my own path."
- [18:25] Rhesus DeLaurentis says, "Headmaster..."
- [18:25] Rhesus DeLaurentis says, ".. Mm. Well, let's hear them."
- [18:25] Seifer Gardios says, "Ah-"
- [18:25] Seifer Gardios asks, "Shouldn't we go somewhere more quiet?"
- [18:26] Seifer Gardios says, ".. Quieter."
- [18:26] Rhesus DeLaurentis says, "Here is fine."
- [18:26] Seifer Gardios says, "Alright. I wasn't sure if you could stand up for too long."
- [18:27] Seifer reaches into his cloak to pull out a book with an appearance which leaves to be desired. Full of notes and scribblings all over it's clear that what was once a pleasant read had now turned into nothing more than a notebook for a greater purpose.
- "My first question is this:
- How do you define power? If one is said to be powerful, what do you expect of them before meeting them?"
- (Seifer Gardios)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [18:36] A most peculiar question indeed. He'd have to be reminded who was currently standing as the Headmaster. It's been too long since he's checked there after all. A light hum escapes him, and eventually he begins to respond as best as he can.
- "Well first, you have to take into consideration that power in itself is an abstract term. There are many ways that the person in question can be considered powerful. Wealth, magical capability, connections.. all of these things in some essence, can make a man quite powerful.
- For me personally, power lies within the heart of the man. The one who is indomitable in his will, the one who has something he is willing to stake his life on, and to that end will do anything to accomplish something he puts his mind to. He is stubbornly unrelenting, fears nothing that is put before him, and charges headstrong into whatever dangers may await him. It is because at that point, he is capable of anything he puts his mind.
- Understand what I'm trying to say?"
- (Rhesus DeLaurentis)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [18:41] Seifer seemed to be taking notes of the man's words rather carefully, precisely keeping in mind the stronger points of his explanation and thoughts while tossing away the very principle of the question being spoken aloud; the interpretation of power was something that was interesting to see in the people who seemed to carry a strong will of their own.
- A nod came.
- "I understand. With this, we can move on to the second question. This one is a bit more complicated- but.
- The world as it stands is, and can be damage. Abuse of horrible arts, actions taken with selfish purposes and tears in reality are all ways that can affect the world negatively. Places like the Mire, or the Dreadwoods are more... physical representation of reality being torn apart."
- A bit of explanation for the uninitiated, ensuring that Rhesus would understand the second question as it was meant to be spoken.
- "If you were to hold power like no other, how would you go about mending the world? What would be your method to soothe it and how would you apply it to the current state of the world?"
- (Seifer Gardios)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [18:48] "Diplomacy."
- He sets a hand to his chin.
- "For the past several decades, up until recent, it was through diplomacy that years of peace was bought for a fair price. It showed itself through gifts, and innovations such as the very same academy that you now attend bringing people together in unity."
- "I have had people that I spent my childhood with die a merciless death as apart of a war waged by men that were born into such violence. To what end do we hope for it to truly reach, to truly make a difference for the future? We burn them to the ground, and although they may scatter, there will always be those that will revive it from the ground up. If this was not the case, then I believe the grounds we currently stand on now wouldn't it even exist.
- So to what end do we hope to reach now?
- There are men that must be brought to justice, but there are ways of life that although may conflict with ours, we must learn to respect and co-exist with."
- (Rhesus DeLaurentis)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [18:53] Much like before it was not Seifer's place to judge. Stating his own opinion on the matter was uncalled for; he would not be able to pull from the thoughts and will for those he questioned if he began arguing with them. There was a need for diplomacy in the world and with decent words and fair trials, it could heal.
- Or at the very least this was Rhesus' way to view it.
- A smile was cast by the young student before he gave a small nod, a hand reaching up to push his glasses back in place as his lips parted.
- "So you believe that words, justice, and understanding others is the way to mend our world. Interesting."
- Whereas Fennel had been asked a certain final question before, Rhesus would be dealt with a different hand.
- "I have but one final question for you, then:
- Do you believe living beings are born good, evil, or neither?"
- (Seifer Gardios)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [18:55] "I believe they are born of neither.
- Men and women are both born under circumstances that may force them to turn to one side. Such is the way of life. Yet, I feel it is the responsibility of people like us to do whatever is in our power to help others not have to turn to the side of darkness. Not everybody is given a fair chance, and that is but another one of the misfortunes that we as people are faced with."
- (Rhesus DeLaurentis)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [18:57] Seifer noted down a few more things before he allowed his book to snap shut. Green eyes peered up to the Stellus and a few more words were spoken.
- "Thank you. I think I've got all I need now. Is there anything I can do for you?"
- (Seifer Gardios)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [18:58] Rhesus DeLaurentis asks, "Not this very moment. Seifer, was it?"
- [18:59] Seifer Gardios says, "Mhm."
- [18:59] Seifer Gardios exclaims, "Feel free to send me a letter if you ever think of something else!"
