- i’ve been wanting to write about monsterwife archer for like, WEEKS hoping i would be able to make nasty semi-artful prose about him, but that never happened but i’m still thinking about him!!!! I JUST LOVE THE CONCEPT that he was overpowered by something and it took complete ownership over him to the point that archer found complacency in it. it’s REALLY CHARMING!! i think that if archer got sent to kill a monster it would be because his community put all of their faith in him and while that was Unfair, he felt like he had to because he’s archer and he saves people THAT IS HIS JOB. so for him to fail was unthinkable and for him to be presumed dead was a huge tragedy, but he was likely still well regarded as a hero who died honorably. points if the monster left everyone alone after that because it found the perfect wife lmao
- archer’s physical and mental struggle against being held captive by the monster and constantly wondering why it wouldn’t just kill him and get it over with!!! like was the monster going to torture him? eat him? it doesn’t speak, so he has no idea what’s actually going to happen. i think it would be interesting if he was trapped in the dark for a couple of days left to wonder but unable to escape before the monster made its intentions known. his struggle against what’s happening now that he can’t convince himself otherwise like, unlocks an entirely new level of horror in him and in true hentai fashion the monster having tons of thick, slimy tentacles and secreting some kind of aphrodisiac that breaks him outside first and inside later. just completely overwhelmed with alarm and horror until he realizes how his body is reacting and that something else is starting to overpower the pain and make it feel... not bad. the disgust he feels with himself when he starts to move his hips and become overwhelmed with arousal even while his body is being wrecked.
- i don’t know when exactly he would lose his mind, but it’s interesting to think it would be sometime between realizing he’s going to be used as a seedbed for this monster and having a few cute litters of slimy tentacle creatures. i think between that space where he can watch and feel this disconnect and horror as his body becomes very much Not His Property and get wrecked for life in so many ways he never thought imaginable, all while hating how good he feels physically. he’s getting viciously fucked and filled up, but he’s also doted on and “spoiled” by being fed mindfucky aphrodisiac to keep his body relaxed and comfy. he’s strong enough to bear brood after brood of these tiny monster terrors and they’re probably vicious in their own ways by draining him of mana while they’re still inside him and biting him and feeding from him relentlessly when they’re out of him. at this point even archer understands they don’t actually know any better so he... just endures it... eventually the monster makes that pain go away too. the fuzzy headed feeling gives way to archer feeling more and more endeared to these tiny monsters because they’re his; he made them so he feels the same responsibility and duty to care for them since he can’t protect anyone else now. that being what warps the last bit of sanity archer was clinging too would be so good. suddenly he’s just. pride and devotion for each gross little monster he produces. look at that! he made that! archer slowly growing this unabashed adoration for his monster children. they need him! he can look after them. it’s perfect. archer subsequently using that love to welcome any changes to his body or his shape that help him do his job more effectively. once that level of corruption is unlocked i think his body is in a more constant state of euphoria. he’s working really hard he’s doing his best so of course it Feels Good. the energy he’s soaking up from the monster with a reformed mind allows a tattoo seal to burn into his skin and make him stronger, which is exactly what he’s wanted. stronger = able to have more children. that leads to a more fervid loyalty to the monster itself for giving him the privilege and the happiness and purpose until it becomes a huge mess of desperate emotions that might seem like love to the untrained eye.
- it’s very fun to think about how long he could have been held captive, carrying brood after brood and feeling so much pride and adoration for his cute children! accepting physical affection from the monster as a treat and welcoming being completely ravaged because his body has become trained to enjoy it. just a content, drooling mess. covered in tentacles and full of babies 24/7. He’s good, he’s doing a good job everything is good!!!!
- i think general mato eventually finding archer was serendipitous. like, say another group stormed the cave and slayed the monster because its terrible babies had started invading villages on the other side of the mountain. the location archer had originally gone to fight the monster had long since been abandoned and it was unknown until then that a series of caverns that lead to other places in that particular mountain range. following rumors and the traveling band of would-be heroes, general mato made it clear that he had no interest in collecting any reward and that he only needed to find some answers for himself.
- people had told him for a long time that archer was definitely dead, but he refused to accept it. he made it his goal to become strong enough to do something about it. through a lot of failure, pain and more than a few shady deals and exchanges, general mato is stronger, but he also admits to himself all of the things people had told him were likely true: archer was probably dead and he would never be strong enough to avenge him. what he does want to accomplish, he decides, is to investigate for himself. maybe with some kind of closure he could move on from this obsession.
- once the monster is killed it takes general mato hours to find archer, having wandered through a maze of rock and eerie darkness. by this point he was only holding onto the hope that he could find something to confirm his identity: a piece of his clothing; his sword... anything. so when general mato stumbles upon an actual person, it’s surreal. even moreso when he realizes what has become of them. right away he knows it’s archer; but he isn’t sure if that’s something to be celebrated or not. horror sinks into general mato’s bones as he takes in the truth of what’s happened to the person he loves and the reason he’s become who he is now and he isn’t sure what to do. he thinks he could guess what archer would want in this situation, but general mato is too selfish to do that. against any better judgment he may have, he’s gotta keep him.
