  1. (In dialogue, the tactician character is called [Tact]. That's the code that makes the game say the player's name they put in at the beginning of the game.)

  4. Jenna:
  5. I do have to wonder what my dear father would think of this... The children of sworn enemies forces...
  6. The tactician:
  7. What was their problem with each other anyway? I actually asked my father but he refused to say.
  8. Jenna:
  9. Really? Well... It's... simple really. Volund betrayed my father out of simple greed. They were allies for a long time... But Volund's theft of Father's prize ruined it all.
  10. The tactician:
  11. He stole something, huh? What was it? Once the war is over, I'll see if I can get it back.
  12. Jenna:
  13. Ah, that is... impossible, I'm afraid. Volund discarded it not long after obtaining it. That infuriated my father even further.
  14. The tactician:
  15. So you don't know where it is now?
  16. Jenna:
  17. No... No... I do not.
  18. The tactician:
  19. Curse you, Father... You always were selfish... No wonder he didn't tell me. He was the guilty party.
  20. Jenna:
  21. ...

  24. Jenna:
  25. Say, [Tact]. What was your mother like?
  26. The tactician:
  27. My mother? Why would you want to know about her?
  28. Jenna:
  29. You're different from your father. I'm curious what your other parent was like.
  30. The tactician:
  31. ... There isn't much to tell. She ran away from Vanheim when I was very young.
  32. Jenna:
  33. Ran away...
  34. The tactician:
  35. Yeah. I was still just a baby when that happened. I'm afraid whatever made me different from my father wasn't my mother. My memories of her are vague and foggy... I think she had long green hair... That is all I can remember, and I'm not even sure about that. My father rarely talked about her... And she apparently kept to herself, so barely any noble in Vanheim interacted with her either. My teacher in dark magic did know she knew dark magic as well. Those two things aside... I've got nothing. I don't even know why she left.
  36. Jenna:
  37. I see... I'm sorry for making you talk about that ... I suppose we're a little similar there though.
  38. The tactician:
  39. Similar?
  40. Jenna:
  41. I do remember my mother more vividly but she was... Unfaithful to my father. When he found out, he was furious. He banished her from our lands, I haven't seen her since.
  42. The tactician:
  43. Have you ever looked for her?
  44. Jenna:
  45. No. Father was right to throw her out. She's dead to me.
  46. The tactician:
  47. Our families are quite the messes, aren't they?
  48. Jenna:
  49. Mmm. And it is up to us to not repeat their mistakes.
  50. The tactician:
  51. Right...
  52.

  54. The tactician:
  55. Jenna, I've got a question. But I've been afraid to ask. You were there when my father died, weren't you? We never did find the body... I've been wondering if he was somehow still alive.
  56. Jenna:
  57. I can assure you, he died in Tarka. Maximillian killed Volund. ... Though Volund did throw an insult at him before perishing.
  58. The tactician:
  59. Heh... Well, that sounds about right. Thanks, it has been bothering me since then. But I can put those thoughts to rest now. You may not want to hear this, but... Though I've always hated him, he still played a vital role shaping me into the man I am today. ... There are times when I am disgusted with what I am. But other times, I am proud. It's hard to describe...
  60. Jenna:
  61. ... I understand how you feel, [Tact]. Don't worry... I should be thanking you as well. If it wasn't for you, I would have died a lonesome bitter woman. There were days I was consumed by self-destructive thoughts. But since meeting you, fighting with you, and talking with you... I feel my spirit and integrity finally clear after so long... It is thanks to you, my soul is redeemed. You've become... very important to me, [Tact].
  62. The tactician:
  63. Jenna...
  64. Jenna:
  65. I'm sorry... I may have gotten too bold there.
  66. The tactician:
  67. It's alright, Jenna. You too, are important to me. Maybe we can talk more on this in a more peaceful setting.
  68. Jenna:
  69. I would like that.
  70. The tactician:
  71. Then let us be off, we've a war to win!
  72. *she vanishes*
  73. Jenna:
  74. [Tact], I'm so afraid to tell you the truth... Maybe one day I will tell you that we're...
