We'll go ironically

Covet: Tae was sitting in a booth at the cafe on the phone with her Dad, "Yes, I'll be there. I dunno... I'll let you know if I do... Dad... I just want to eat my grilled cheese in peace please."
Alexithymiaa: -Noah had been up at the counter ordering himself another basket of loaded waffle fries, passing over the few bits of cash he had on him and returning to the booth to take a seat across from Tae. He listened to her side of the conversation, dipping his finger into the cheese that was leftover from the last order.-
Covet: Tae looked over at Noah and just shook her head as he went all in on his cheese. "Okay, I love you too. Goodbye, OH tell Mom I love her too!" She said then hung up the phone. "Sorry.. Dad trying to finalize dinner plans for tomorrow."
Alexithymiaa: "Fun." He said as he stuck his cheesy finger in his mouth, licking it off before rubbing it on his napkin. "Family event?"-
Covet: "Mhhm. Chrismukkah dinner. Eli and Bliss aren't going to be there, because they're going to be in New York, and so Dad wants to make sure I'm coming so he doesn't make too much food. Plus, It'll be nice not to be the disappointment at the table this year, since Eli bailed on a holiday he helped create."
Alexithymiaa: "Yeah, I guess that does make him the winner for the year." He said with a small laugh, slouching down in his seat because WHERE ARE HIS FRIES? "Sounds like you guys are going to have fun."-
Covet: "Well... you don't happen to have any plans at all tomorrow night do you?" Tae asked taking a bite of her grilled cheese.
Alexithymiaa: "Not really...." He trailed off, not catching on to her question because he wouldnt assume she would invite him to family dinner.-
Covet: "Good, then you're coming with me." Tae said making the decision for him. " But you have to dress nice. That's part of the rules."
Alexithymiaa: "Wait, what?" He asked quickly. The waitress walked over and set the loaded fries in front of him, but now he was too busy gawking at her. "You want me to come to your family dinner?"-
Covet: "Isn't that what I just said?" Tae asked him. " Is that going to be a problem or something?"
Alexithymiaa: "Well.... I mean..." He trailed off, looking for his words that were just completely escaping him. "Maybe. What's for dinner?"-
Covet: "A mishmash of Christmas and Jewish foods. The best of both basically." She told him. " Why are you acting so awkward about this, it's just some free food and a night with people who will more than likely treat you like family."
Alexithymiaa: "Uh, because it's your parents?" He asked like that was a stupid question.-
Covet: "Okay despite my previous issues with my parents, and their weirdness, they are pretty cool people as far as parents are concerned. My dad is an art professor and my mom is a housewife recovering alcoholic. What's not to love."
Alexithymiaa: "They're your parents?" He asked, giving her a look because he wasnt sure why she wasnt getting this whole meet the parents thing.-
Covet: "So what?" Tae said furrowing her brow, "I don't get why you're making that such a point..."
Alexithymiaa: "Cause it's weird?" He asked, grabbing for a few fries to toss into his mouth. "Whatever, it's fine. What am I supposed to wear to this thing?"-
Covet: "It's only weird if you make it weird. I'll just let them know I'm bringing a friend. They'll be fine with it. My dad likes sharing this holiday." Tae said waving him off. " Something festive and nice. Like businessy nice, not formal nice."
Alexithymiaa: "What does that even mean? What's businessy nice?" He asked because he's never had a real businessy job in his life.-
Covet: "Like Suit and tie, but not all fancy and formal like?" Tae said, "It was nicer than saying funeral attire"
Alexithymiaa: "I have to wear a suit and tie?" He gasped, leaniing forward over the table to stare at her. "Free food isnt worth that."-
Covet: "It's to humor my mom. Please. The food is going to be really good, my dad is a fantastic cook and my mom's only touching the salad, because Bliss showed her how to do it." Tae said. "I won't bring you home leftovers this time."
Alexithymiaa: -He threw his head back and let out an overdramatic groan. "Ugh fine, but if the food isn't living up to my expectations, I reserve the right to hold it against you forever."-
Covet: "You can hold whatever you want against me for forever if you go to this dinner." Tae said not intending ot make it sound commital but it kind of was.
Alexithymiaa: "I will hold whatever I want against you, whenever I want it against you, forever." He said, making it sexual real fucking quick.-
Covet: "I don't think you really understand the implications you just made there mister." Tae said to him laughing, then was trying to backtrack a little bit. " I mean.. forever is a long damn time. I mean, you could at least buy me breakfast first."
Alexithymiaa: "Nah, you owe me after this. Do you understand that you're making me put on a suit and tie tomorrow? For a family dinner? That's like... that's a lot."-
Covet: "Yeah, but.. maybe it could be in practice for the dance on Thursday?" Tae said. "If you were going to go to that at all... I was thinking about it."
Alexithymiaa: "The dance is different. It's like a big thing. This is just a family dinner." He said quickly. "I was considering going like... ironically or something. As a joke."-
Covet: "Ironically stag?" Tae asked taking the last bite of her sandwich. "It's a special family dinner, thank you very much."
Alexithymiaa: "I guess if you wanted to ironically go together? It'll be hilarious. We can laugh at everyone taking it seriously." He grabbed for another fry, biting the end before speaking again. "Still just a family dinner."-
Covet: "Ironically together?" Tae asked. " Wouldn't that just be like, going together regularly? Who's going to know we're there ironically?" She asked him. " You don't know my family... they are kind of... eccentric to say the least."
Alexithymiaa: "We would know. And anyone who knows us, would know. It's just funny." He said as he finished the fries in his hand.-
Covet: "Okay, if you say so. There's probably going to be alcohol of somesort and we can get high before we get there too." Tae offered.
Alexithymiaa: "See, it'll be funny. We should do it. And take some of those cliche pictures too." He paused, considering his options. "I wonder if we can make special cupcakes. Think it's hard?"-
Covet: "Okay, we can put it with our Santa pictures?" She said with a laugh. "I dunno.. Probably not... but you should make them early so if they don't turn out, we can pick up some at the pot shop on our way there."
Alexithymiaa: "I'll try it on Wednesday as a test run. I just need to figure out how to do it. It's probably the same or really close and I'm sure someone has a recipe online somewhere." He was decently excited for pot cupcakes.-
Covet: "Google probably has it." Tae said. "People do it all the time so it can't be that hard."
Alexithymiaa: "Eh, people do lots of things all the time, doesn't mean that things aren't hard if you've never done them before." He grabbed another fry to toss into his mouth.-
Covet: "well duh, but like, if everyday people can do it, it can't be that bad. Just remember to follow the instructions correctly." She said watching him and his fry tricks.
Alexithymiaa: "Yeah yeah yeah, I get it. I've gotten better though. That batch of chocolate cupcakes came out really good and it wasn't even that hard to not use a boxed mix."-
Covet: "They were and wait.. those weren't from a box?" She asked him kind of in shock.
Alexithymiaa: "Uh.... no?" He asked like she was a moron because he'd just said that. "I found a recipe online and I just did that instead."-
Covet: "Holy fuck Noah!" Tae said, "Can you call Liv for me...like right now."
Alexithymiaa: "Do you know what time it is in New York?" He asked her again like she was a moron. "What's your deal?"-
Covet: "I'm pretty sure she's going to want to hear about this though. Because this is like.. a huge breakthrough with you."
Alexithymiaa: "Oh shut up." He said as he pushed up from the table, jamming his hands down into his pockets. "Would you just get your shit so we can go home? I actually have a final in the morning."-
Covet: "Yeah, yeah. Sounds good to me. And you have to find a suit to wear too." She reminded him as she got up. "Don't you dare make demands, we're in my vehicle mister." Tae said, then headed towards the door.
Alexithymiaa: "I have a finalllll." He whined, sticking with that because he assumed that would be the only thing she might care about as far as letting him get home.-
