Now... this is a nice place. And I wanted to disrupt the plot. I wanted to stop the Giant from being destroyed, stop the pain that everyone was going to go through and the panic, but there are times where it is better not to act. This is one of those times. Acting would take away the growth that many of those here experienced. But there are certainly differences that I can make while I'm here.

One, a certain federal agent who is too big for his britches found himself transferred in the wake of what happened. Oh, sure, one can explain away SOME things, but others? An atomic bomb was detonated off the eastern seaboard. It's hard to hide that - and Kent Mansley's incompetence meant that the Reds were able to confirm the existence of submarine launched short-range ballistic missiles. Sure, I had to be quiet in how I did it, but I made damned sure that it wasn't overlooked in any way.

On the other hand, being in the world in 1957 means that I can make a lot of differences. Sure, I can't kill Hitler... but I can make contact with the Earth's governments, for shits and giggles. Which were less funny when I found out that Roswell wasn't a skyhook balloon in this universe, whoops. Still, playing up The Day The Earth Stood Still is important - the idea was to give everyone a common goal to aspire toward. To be better than they are. And... it seemed to work. Oh, world peace didn't break out overnight, but a lot of wars that would have happened, didn't. And the lack of those wars meant others didn't happen, or happened differently.

The technology that I dropped off for them to study probably didn't hurt either, even if it was barely more advanced than modern day standards.
