Raised in the forest of elves, but relocated to a human village in the swamps named Truecrest. Hunted and foraged in the swamps to help support the town and earn a living, staying mostly on his own.

When the Church of Prophis rolled into town, he found their philosophy compelling, and promptly joined up. Inspired by the turbulence in the region from orcs and bugbears, he decided to take up arms with the Church, and went to their military academy in the Sunken Keep. Spending 10 years of his life in training, he emerged an effective and courageous swordsman.

Things changed drastically when a mind plague swept the region, some sort of disease or illness that caused people to slowly forget everything. His parents and his siblings got hit hard by it, and he realized soon that he also had been afflicted, but somehow he was managing to resist, likely as a result of the intense mental exercises from the academy. No matter how strong his mind was, eventually, it would tear him down.

One night as he slept, the puppet god spoke to him in his dreams, and gave him his Commandment.

"YOUR PURPOSE IS TO DEFEAT THE ABERRANT MIND PLAGUE."

Waking up and realizing that he had actually had a religious experience, that he wasn't just hallucinating, he knew he had basically no chance to succeed at this Commandment alone. Talking it out with his brothers and sisters from the Academy, he came up with a possible solution.

He had to get to the New World and make enough damn money to fund the research needed. It was the only way. And hell, even if he died, Prophis would probably grab some other sad sack and get them to do it. Win-win.
