  1. US. Civil War (historien, sangene, billederne, hvad handlede det om? Kig på "The Cornerstone Speech" og "The Gettysburg Address")
  2. The war broke out as a result of the long standing controversy of slavery in the United States. Even in the United States there were opposing views on slavery, the southern states believed slavery was an integral part of their society and the notherns believed slavery should be stopped. The southern states were called the confederate and the northern states the Union or the North. The war was mainly fought in the south and took 4 years, the war ended when general Robert E. Lee surrendered to general Ulysses S. Grant, followed by a series of other surrenders in the south. These 4 years of combat were some of the most horrible years for the US because they killed from 620000 to 750000 of their own people. These numbers were higher than all the other wars the US had fought, so the civil war was the most bloody war for the US, at least until the Vietnam war.
  3. During the war music played a big role for both participants as it was used as sort of a distraction from what was actually going on.
  4. The cornerstone speech was a speech delivered in March 1861 by the vice president Alexander Stephens. The speech defended the enslavement of Africans, and also applauded white supremacy.
  5. The gettysburg address speech is the most well known speech that president Lincoln ever gave and is even one of the most quoted speeches in America. The speech was held four and a half month after the fight at Gettysburg. The speech was given at the Soldiers National Cemetery in Gettysburg
