I mutated into a Monster, So what?

You've heard stories of legendary heroes and the battles they face, of monsters and overlords in the modern day rising up from the most strange of places. You've heard tales of men who mutated into monsters through any number of means, only to be triumphantly defeated by the heroes of this world. This is sort of one of those stories. In a rather common high-rise tower in the middle of america is where our story begins.

A man sits at a computer, typing multiple lines of data in the dead of night, this man's name is Calvin and he's been told by his boss to stay after hours in order to get work he should have been doing done. This was one of multiple nights in a row that he had been told to do this and as he worked he briefly thought back to the days of his youth when he yearned to be strong, to be powerful enough to defeat any villain that stood before him. Regardless life didn't work that way and so he ended up going down the route of a corporate slave.

Calvin's stress had been building up and up over the past few weeks, enough so that even medical professionals were telling him to stop working so hard. Unfortunately he needed the paycheck and didn't really have much of a choice in the matter, this night however was...different. His stress had reached it's peak and as it finally boiled over he gripped his chest as it began to beat faster and faster, his veins bulging as a change suddenly overtook him. He grew larger and larger until he was nearly 3 meters tall, his skin becoming a deep and dark purple as his hair curled and a pair of sharp horns erupted from his head, his teeth sharpening to points as his eyes took on a deep crimson hue.

He stood there after the transformation breathing deeply, he looked upon himself, his clothes torn to shreds, with quivering eyes but....something strange happened. Rather than immediately going on a rampage he sighed deeply "Fucking dammit." He sat back down and being as careful as he could, finished his work. He then went over to the office phone and once again, being as careful as he could dialed the Local Hero Association. A female voice answered over the line.

"Hello this is the Los Angeles Hero Association, how may I serve you today?"

"Yeah Hello, this is Calvin Richardson, I'm calling from the Greggocorp Building to tell you i've seemed to have mutated into a monster."

"What?"

"I've turned into a monster."

"Ok sir, remain calm, we are sending our top hero right now to your location. Do you feel any need to go on a rampage?"

"Not Really."

"No need at all?"

"I really don't see any reason to."

The operator on the other line just sat dumbfounded for a moment before relaying information to the hero that the.."Monster" seemed to be of sound mind and peaceful, something that has never happened before. The hero in turn also stared dumbfounded before sighing and just heading towards the location.

"A hero is coming to take you into custody and will escort you to the LAHA Building."

"Yeah alright, I'm on the 21st floor, I'll be waiting."

Calvin, after hanging up, walked over to the breakroom and after a bit of effort sat on the couch and soon enough the hero known as Dark Wing arrived and after Calvin assured him he had no interest in fighting or attacking, he was escorted to the LAHA building and his supervisor was notified of what had happened. Sometime later he was tested thoroughly before being brought in for an interview with LAHA Officials.

The interviewer sat opposite of Calvin, in a plain white room with only a table, a large chair, a smaller chair, and a two way mirror on the wall and plainly asked him:

"There has never been a precedent set for this before in any case of a person mutating, you're not only of sound mind, you've passed all of the intelligence tests as well as shown that you have little to no aggression against humanity or anyone really. Can you...tell us why?"

Calvin licked his lips a bit due to them being a bit dry and responded. "Well, Even if the stress and anger got to me that badly, there's really no point in me going on a rampage, I know for a fact that if I did I'd just lose my job, get captured, and at worst killed and I have a lifestyle to uphold and bills to pay."

The interviewer gave a dumbfounded look to him. "So...the reason you don't feel that need to kill and rampage is because....you don't see any point in doing it?"

Calvin sighed. "Exactly."

The leader of the LAHA and an employee spoke to one another.

The employee asked "So....what do we do? We can't exactly keep him here if he's not causing any problems.

The leader replied. "Yeah but what about the public? He'll scare the shit out of people if we allow him to walk out."

"Well, we DO have protocols in place in case something like this happened, albeit they're decades old and we've never had to use them."

"Oh yeah, they were put in place by the original leader of the LAHA, Scanner, in case a friendly monster ever appeared right?"

"Yeah."

"Well go ahead and set it up, I don't really have the mental energy to deal with this today."

As the leader left, soon enough Calvin was released from custody...into a padded room in the same building as they dug up the old protocol files. Weeks passed and soon enough Calvin was given a provisionary license, the first of it's kind, as an unaggressive and friendly monster and he spent a few weeks more integrating back into society. His life had changed really drastically, but he took it in stride and strove to live a normal life in spite of what happened to him. In his own words "I Mutated into a Monster, so what?"
