- 2 cups raw cashews
- Boil water in a kettle, then pour over the cashews in a large pot.
- Allow to soak for ten minutes, then drain.
- In food processor, add:
- Soaked cashews
- 3 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup nutritional yeast
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- Puree and slowly add 2 more cups of water.
- Pour back into pot place on stove, allow to simmer on low heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Heat and time make it thicken!
