  1. Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI) occurs when weakened or damaged valves in your leg veins prevent efficient blood flow back to the heart, causing blood to pool and increase venous pressure. Symptoms include leg swelling, heaviness, aching, varicose veins, skin discoloration, itching, and, in advanced stages, venous ulcers. Risk factors include aging, family history, obesity, pregnancy, prolonged standing or sitting, and prior blood clots (DVT).
