Lucas and Declan were still hugging, so Alexa came up behind Lucas and discreetly joined their hug. It wasn’t long before they broke up the hug, and then they noticed Alexa.

“Hi Lucas! Hi Declan!”

“Hi Alexa..”

Declan rolled his eyes. “Shouldn’t you be with Alayna?”

“Hell no! I’m not her friend anymore! The way she joked about your past like that, was fucking disgusting! Besides, even before that, she was always so bitchy and cruel. I just wish I’d realized that sooner.”

“That’s what I said!” Lucas chimed in.

Lucas and Alexa gave each other “the look”, and Declan knew that was his cue.

“I’m gonna leave you two alone now.”

“Okay, bye Declan! Talk later?” Alexa asked him.

“Yea, sure.”

Declan walked away, and Alexa turned to Lucas.

“So…are you okay? Alayna was pretty harsh this morning.”

“Yea, I’m fine. I felt better after Declan punched her.”

“Right! She totally deserved that.”

Lucas nodded.

“Anyway, Lucas, I’m so sorry about how mean I’ve been to you, when I was friends with her. But I promise that stops now.”

“I accept your apology.”

“Really? I thought it would take a lot more than that.”

“Yea…perhaps I’m too trusting.”

“Maybe, but I’m glad we’re on good terms.”

“Just out of curiosity, why are you suddenly approaching me?”

“Because, I’ve been having these…feelings for you. I was thinking about asking you out on a date. What would you say?”

“Yes. Let’s go out.”

“Okay! How about a walk around town after school?”

“Sure! Whatever you want.”

“Okay! I promise I won’t stand you up like Alayna did. She’s a bitch, and I aspire to be nothing like her.”

Lucas gave her a smile. “I’m glad to hear that.”

Nathan sneaked up behind Declan and gave him a big hug, picking him up and holding him. He knew that Declan would try to get away if his feet were on the ground, just because of what Alayna made him do. Alayna always ruined everything!

“What are you doing!?” Declan demanded an answer!

“Declan! I’m sorry! And I’m not just saying I’m sorry, I’m really sorry I broke your heart! I’ve never regretted anything more.”

“Then why did you do it?”

“I didn’t want to. I only did it because Alayna made me.”

“You didn’t have to listen to her.”

“I know. She threatened me that she’d make me lose my popularity, but all that time I was away from you, I realized that as long as I’m with you, none of that matters. I just wish I’d realized that sooner. Declan, I’m still in love with you!”

“I’m in love with you too.” Eric added.

“How can you love me? You’ve barely spoke to me, ever! Also, Nathan, you can put me down now.”

He did.

“That doesn’t mean I’ve never wanted to talk to you!” Eric explained.

“I don’t care. You’ve been a total dick to me since 6th grade!”

“I know, and I always felt like shit inside. All I’ve ever wanted was to be with you!”

“Well maybe you should’ve thought about that before following in Alayna’s fucking footsteps! Do you not know how many times you made me go home crying!?”

“I do know, and I regretted it every time.”

“Aren’t you dating Alayna anyway? Why do you like me?”

“I dumped her cunty ass back in 8th grade! You’re far more important than her.”

“Can y’all fuck off please? Declan doesn’t want a boyfriend right now! Probably because of how you guys treat him.” Bertha chimed in.

Everyone stared at Bertha, in dead, awkward silence. That is, until Jack broke the ice.

“I’m in love with Peyton.”

“I love you too.”

Peyton reached up to peck Jack’s lips, just to make Eric and Nathan go away. They were both annoying her and Jack with their pestering Declan.

“I still love you Declan.” Eric told him, before walking away.

“I don’t expect you to take me back Declan, but can you at least forgive me?” Nathan asked him.

“Yea, I guess.”

“Yay! We’re all friends again! Group hug?” Jack asked them, before enforcing it.

“I guess we don’t have a choice now.” Nathan joked.

“Sorry, I love hugs.”

“I want hugs too!” Lucas shouted, joining the hug.

He was followed by Alexa, who was followed by Erika shortly after. It was one big group hug, and Lucas was absolutely relishing it. For the first time, for as long as he could remember, he actually felt wanted. Like he was important. He was happy! A rare occurrence! Peyton, on the other hand, felt squished.

“Can’t. Breathe.”

“Sorry Peyton!”

Everyone released her, except for Jack. But he did loosen his grip.

“Do I have to let go?”

“No, you’re good.”

Jack gave Peyton a smile and pecked her lips. Lucas was hella confused. Since when were Jack and Peyton a thing? Either way, he was ecstatic. He’d been shipping them together for the longest time! Now it was finally happening, and he couldn’t be happier for them. Normally, things like this would make him feel jealous, but today, he felt fantastic. He was over Alayna, and that was all he cared about. Plus he had a date with Alexa! How cool was that!

“Guess who has a date tonight!” Alexa announced.

“You? We have a date tonight to, so don’t flatter yourself.” Jack answered, referring to him and Peyton.

“Guys, I’m going on a date with Lucas!”

“Are you gonna show up?” Jack questioned her, being snooty.

“Why wouldn’t I?”

“Because Alayna didn’t.”

“Well I’m nothing like her! You take that back Jack!”

Jack started giggling. “Back Jack! That rhymed!”

“I guess it did. I didn’t even mean to do that!”

Everyone laughed for a while, until Jack thought of something brilliant!

“What if you and Lucas were to double date with me and Peyton? Then it would be a party!”

“I guess.”

“That’s a fucking excellent idea!”

“We should definitely have a party after.”

“I suppose we could do it on the weekend, just don’t invite Alayna or Bobort.” Alexa answered.

“Wasn’t gonna!”

“Great! See you tomorrow!”
