The dragon was called Igneel. Since then, Igneel taught Kaaru everything about Fire Dragon Slayer magic. However, Igneel left without a trace one night, leaving Kaaru a simple chain necklace of a red ruby-like gem. Kaaru had been looking for Igneel since then and found himself at Fairy Tail around 6 years old.
