VRChat mega-pastebin

VRChat is currently /vrg/'s primary game. We have dozens of members with hundred of hours in this game who play daily. The primary appeal of VRChat is the ability to import your own avatars as well as the inclusion of those who aren't able to purchase VR yet due to the feature of being able to play in desktop mode. This pastebin will be focused on helping you learn to import models and worlds to the game, primarily by providing links to tutorials and guides which should cover almost everything you need to know. If you ever have any questions about what you're doing just ask in the thread, we like the discussion.

---------How to join us------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We currently have regular meetups, and by regular I mean daily. These meetups are typically active anywhere between 6pm and 6am, PST. We usually spend our time in Friends+ instances so to join you will need us on your friends list. Ask in the thread about the meetups, tell them you're new, would like to join the meetups, and need people on your friends list to join off of. Usually a couple people will be keeping there eyes on the thread and can drop a name for you to send a friend request to. At that point you can join them at the meetup, but your work isn't quite done. Once in the meetup it is highly recommended to send friend requests to just about anyone you can select. By doing this you can ensure you'll have access to the meetups when that first person you friended is offline. Don't worry about people who don't accept your friend requests, plenty of others will because we're all faggots desperate for attention and seeing the friend request icon can brighten our day and give us the warmth that comes from the illusion of importance.

Be friendly and have fun, understand that you aren't going to get along with absolutely everyone. If a user does something you dislike, you can talk to them about it. They may or may not agree and thats OK. If you really can't stand them and they won't agree with you just block them. Do not anonymously insult anons in the thread, do not shit talk anons behind their back, do not report other anons. Understand that meetups are much nicer than the threads because those who like to argue and insult others typically realize they don't have much of an argument when given a face and name. Don't be one of those spineless retards, they degrade the quality of our threads.
EVEN MORE IMPORTANT
That is not to say we're some retarded hugbox, for example we should gas any furries on sight because thats a cancer we don't want to deal with in meetups. Streamers can get the fuck out because we're not their free entertainment. As far as handling streamers goes, begin by telling them to stop streaming, if they refuse or lie and keep streaming you can start a votekick and inform everyone, we typically dominate any friends+ instance so it should pass. If you're the instance owner you can directly kick them from the room. Worst case scenario is to gather up as many anons as you can and head to a different world. You can do this to also ensure you're the owner of this new instance, with the ability to shove a boot up that streamer's ass moments before they go flying to a different world. Another fun thing to do to streamers is constantly give them a warning, they can't move until they've clicked a confirmation button on the warning. You can almost lock them down in one spot as they repetitively click through menu after menu, of course you're stuck as well but its a bit more entertaining on your end.


---------Avocados------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Using avocados randomly at meetups or on other /vrg/ members is not acceptable behavior, using avocados on streamers or anyone recording to boot them from meetups is a terrible idea because you heavily risk a ban, instead follow the methods listed above. If someone from the meetups has used an avocado on you speak with them about it, push comes to shove you can block them. DO NOT REPORT OTHER ANONS. If they're truly as nasty a person as you believe then everyone else will block them, and anyone willing to tolerate them will still be able to hang out with them. Be careful about avocados in public worlds, using them can be risky because of people who record, and getting hit by one is always possible. Uganda is a battleground and testing zone, tread with caution and don't use a knuckles avatar. Avocados are easily countered by blocking non-friend avatars.

This is currently the best single tutorial covering almost every step of the process in importing an avatar to VRChat. Many of the steps are also valid when importing non-MMD 3d models

>Optimization
What the hell is optimization? Optimization is taking your model and ensuring that its not resource intensive. VR can be tough on computers and this isn't helped when someone's model takes up half of your frames. VRChat is limited by CPU so we primarily focus on reducing draw calls and other calculations handled by the CPU. I will refine the content in this section later, for now here is a pastebin on atlasing, which is when you combine all of your materials to make less draw calls (1 per material typically).

Dynamic bones, cloth physics, and anything using colliders are performance heavy on the CPU end, please use them in moderation if at all.

You can choose which world you load into when you start up VRChat! Here is a list of links to worlds we've enjoyed and think are good for spawning into. To use a link, simply copy it and paste it into your launch options for VRChat. You can find your launch options by right clicking VRChat in your Steam library and selecting properties, then select set launch options and paste the world link.
