  1. [16:16] <nana-chan> What do you need.
  2. [16:17] <anon_> Which of the mods is in moderation of /v/, i've got a question regarding a recent situation involving Guilty Gear threads
  3. [16:17] <nana-chan> How many times do we need to tell people that there are no "board-specific mods" and that all mods are global? This isn't 8cuck.
  4. [16:17] <anon_> oh ok
  5. [16:18] <anon_> uh, do you need my IP for formality or can I just describe the problem since it doesnt involve a ban appeal
  6. [16:18] <nana-chan> Just go for it and flood me with your query already.
  7. [16:20] <anon_> Alright, essentially on /v/ i've been recently making about 1 thread for Guilty Gear a day, not enough to justify a general, but it constantly had discussion regarding the game and never degraded into the usual conversations that generals have, like waifufagging and such. However, yesterday the thread was moved to /vg/ and told to stay there, so i've got 2 requests. #1. If 1 Guilty Gear thread a day isn't allowed, why are non-video game related topics constantly up
  8. [16:21] <anon_> on the board? And #2. There is one or two anons who are falseflagging the Guilty Gear players, and still making threads on /v/, very obviously with the same pic over and over, and he brags about it in /vg/, at the very least can something be done regarding this problem so guilty gear threads arent banned from /v/ forever?
  9. [16:23] <nana-chan> #1. If 1 Guilty Gear thread a day isn't allowed, why are non-video game rela
  10. [16:23] <nana-chan> [XX:21:52] <anon_> on the board?
  11. [16:23] <nana-chan> Can you repeat this question, your client cut some characters off.
  12. [16:24] <anon_> If 1 Guilty Gear thread a day isn't allowed, why are non-video game related topics allowed to constantly stay on the board, or other games that get constant threads?
  13. [16:24] <anon_> For example: http://boards.4chan.org/v/thread/386866113
  14. [16:26] <nana-chan> Off-topic content is not allowed.
  15. [16:26] <nana-chan> We can't be everywhere and not enough people report rule-breaking posts, so it may appear as if there is no moderation, which is simply not the case.
  16. [16:27] <anon_> Yeah i'm not accusing you of anything
  17. [16:27] <anon_> it just seems weird that mobage threads and 'comfy botw' threads never get taken down but a thread that had constant discussion of a game once, maybe twice, a day, gets the boot
  18. [16:29] <nana-chan> Do you have examples of threads that got deleted.
  19. [16:30] <anon_> Yeah give me a sec, it was only one thread, all the other ones were left alone, but the last one that was made was moved to /vg/
  20. [16:31] <anon_> http://boards.4chan.org/v/thread/386771601
  21. [16:36] <nana-chan> All I can say at this moment is maybe next time try to make them appear less like generals, really. This means no fixed "schedule," rather make threads spontaneously instead. Putting the "Guilty Gear thread" part in spoilers is also not a great thing to do, especially on /v/, it appears you did that so it's easier to find in the index or catalog or to give people an idea what kind of thread this is.
  22. [16:37] <anon_> Alright, so if we were to say, only do the thread maybe every other day or tri-weekly, they'd be allowed?
  23. [16:38] <anon_> Or are you just saying they can be made any time, just make it so they're less obvious and not back-to-back?
  24. [16:39] <nana-chan> At the end of the day, rules 4 and 6 apply.
  25. [16:39] <nana-chan> 4. Please refrain from reposting. If possible, try to skim the board for threads pertaining to your topics/info that may have already been posted.
  26. [16:39] <nana-chan> 6. "Generals"—long-term, recurring threads about a specific game—should be posted in /vg/. This is not to say threads about specific games cannot be created on /v/, just that long-term, recurring threads belong in /vg/.
  27. [16:40] <anon_> Yeah, there was only ever 1 thread up at a time when they were made anyways
  28. [16:40] <anon_> it's just difficult to figure out how to stay on /v/ without breaking rule 6
  29. [16:41] <nana-chan> And unfortunately that's the problem.
  30. [16:41] <nana-chan> These threads are recurring threads that keep re-appearing, no matter what the intention behind them is. They are generals.
  31. [16:42] <anon_> Even if they have different OP's and messages, such as if every thread had a different question regarding gameplay or something?
  32. [16:42] <nana-chan> No. If they really are like this, then they aren't generals.
  33. [16:43] <anon_> Alright, so essentially as long as we do not use the same picture and message, we'll be fine
  34. [16:43] <anon_> thank you, now regarding the second issue
  35. [16:43] <anon_> which would probably be more difficult to deal with
  36. [16:43] <anon_> http://boards.4chan.org/v/thread/386869575
  37. [16:43] <anon_> here's an example
  38. [16:43] <nana-chan> Re: Your previous issue. The last threads appeared to be generals, which is the problem.
  39. [16:44] <anon_> Yeah, and from now on, we plan to not go the route we did
  40. [16:44] <nana-chan> There is really nothing you can do besides reporting these threads.
  41. [16:44] <nana-chan> "We."
  42. [16:44] <anon_> Sorry
  43. [16:44] <nana-chan> Don't. It makes you appear as generals indeed.
  44. [16:45] <anon_> So essentially we can go back, we just need to be careful regarding how threads are made, and the one or two guys doing this, we just need to report them and as long as our threads dont resemble theirs, we should be safe?
  45. [16:46] <nana-chan> We will keep deleting or moving threads that appear to be a general.
  46. [16:47] <anon_> Alright, thank you very much for your help with this issue
