- **November | 3rd | day of DC1-Shortened**
- Core 1 | Initially coming out of yesterdays core was quite bad, but the morning core didn't have any preceeding drowsiness at all unlike yesterday. Think this'll naturally settle as the easy REM core with the second one being the rough ass SWS core (no idea if that's possible with the way the cores are positioned in relation whatever internal cycle the body has).
- Nap | went well
- Core 2 | Think this is the first day where I'm starting to get tired before the second core that finishes off the day. The drowsiness preceeds the core by about 2 hours in this case, but it's managable, nothing like day 1 core 1 predrowsiness which was quite bad if I recall correctly. As I get closer to the core it's getting tougher, think this might be because I hadn't really biked to Uni with my full heavy laptop which puts an unexpected amount of stress on the ride with it being a heavy ass thinkpad.
- Post core 2 was quite similar to yeterday, more difficult maybe on account of the extra biking SWS. Took me 30 minutes of somewhat mindless, but active interacting with the PC to finally be myself enough to write this down. After that I didn't quite use the 10s timer the whole time, but I only decided to let up the 30s timer 2 hours after core wake.
- **November | 4th | day of DC1-Shortened**
- The day started off with another rough post core with some active semi zombie mode (maybe on account of the extra biking SWS), however after the inital difficulty for the first core at least there was no significant drowsiness ahead of time to speak of. And post core drowsiness can be fixed by some sprinting to the PC to disable the alarm a cuple times :stuck_out_tongue:. After some time to kick that post sleep drowsiness I felt really great, like waking up from a golden nap except with core and not right away :feelstastyman:.
- Ooo wee, a drowsy bomb hit a few hours after/before the core/nap that later gained a laggy autofocus issue. Good news is I discovered how to motivate myself to do work, this webm :D https://s1.webmshare.com/LPJGe.webm, this is great because it'll mean I need to focus constantly, if I'm unable to do so (or hear an alert which should be impossible under the circumstances) I'll know I need a shorter timer.
- Nap | I keep forgetting to eat before the nap, think I'll eat consistantly right after the nap (since I only eat once a day) or as soon as I get home from Uni if that happens to be after the nap. I stopped eating half way when I remembered this isn't recommended, nap quality was meh. Did relieve some of the drowsiness from before, but largely just transformed it to tiredness. Though if past DC experiences are any indication, I will feel tired all day for a few days. Should pass soon though, it being day 4.
- Core 2 | No drowsy bomb to speak of when approaching core 2 of this day, in fact the the tiredness I experienced before passed completely at some point. Looks like I won't be having any of the all day tiredness streaks this time around, think they would've happened already (if I recall my DC4 correctly).
- Core wakup was as expected quite rough feeling, got up all the same. Had to utilise active/very active timer for the hour after wake up.
- Hmm, it appears that between Core 2 of one day and core 1 of the next, there is only about an hour out of the 5 that I'm concious enough to play Osu! and improve :D. Good remind of how early I am in the adaptation, though at times I fade in and out of full cognition it seems. Sadly not in a consistant enough manner to do anything productive.
- **November | 5th | day of DC1-Shortened**
- Core 1 | Post core 1 can be a bit decieving, you suddenly realise you're talking to people on discord despite having discord closed for day as :feelstastyman:. Very active monitoring time :thonk:. Luckily I'm only sleep prone, not mentally incapacitated so Osu! it is :D. I also appear to be thirsty af. If you define thirst as a dry throat at least. Just had like 5 600ml bottles of water in about 20 minutes (not constantly drinking obviously, but about 3 Osu! plays per bottle). Ok this is probably not thirst, just a dry or something throat. Going to lay off the water for a half hour at least to see if it goes away naturally or I become more "thirsty". I've had my usual daily intake of water already :stuck_out_tongue:
- The above drowsiness dissipated completely a few hours after the core and I was able to be productive. Very very light drowsy wave just before the nap, but barely noticable. Still looking forward to the nap (something which is much easier when there's only one of the fuckers unlike DC4 which has 4 and you don't even fall asleep for half the alloted time :expressionless:).
- Nap | Post nap was alright, I think not eating before it made an improvement, still not the nicest post nap ever, but not crappy either.
- Ok it's official, Osu! makes my throat really dry for some reason :thonk:. As it's not related to polyphasic sleep (or so it would seem for the moment) I shall stop reporting on my thirstiness in these logs :D
- Core 2 | Core as usual with a half hour of good dead time + short timer.
- Hmm, it appears that adaptation tiredness is on a spectrum. Unless I'm in complete no motivation, dead, all I can do is watch anime mode, the tiredness appears to range from I can play Osu! and improve to I can't play Osu! and improve. Meaning I can do anything else with no noticable impact on performance. Guess I can't keep using Poly as an excuse to not do any work :stuck_out_tongue:. With that said I've got quite a lot done in this core/day gape.
- **November | 6th | day of DC1-Shortened**
- Core 1 | Really didn't want to get up (just the sleep state I woke up in I guess), but routine got me up before the fan even came on (since my stuff is activated by different devices to prevent a main failure to kill them all like the last time I overslept with DC4 :feelstastyman: they have slightly differing activation times despite all being scheduled for the same time).
- Nap | That feel when you about to :blobmelt: into a nap, but you know it'll be SWS because of tired :expressionless:.
- Core 2 | Nothing special about the core, except that the wakeup has been the smoothest in some time. No passive screen stare (dead) mode post wake. I was sleepy and prone to fall asleep until NMO pinged me if I ever stopped focussing on my work, but if I kept busy or wrote this I'd be quite safe in this state. It's possible I'm through the worst of what this schedule has to offer at least where the initial part of the adaptation is concerned. Even if this is the case I still require active monitoring from NMO for those times I get distracted from actively working. Let's see now if I get a high demotivation bomb post core 1 as this turns into day 7. Hope not, if it wasn't for my 4 extra alarms I would've kept sleeping for sure :tongue_stuck_out: and there's always a chance some won't go off.
- Damn, looking back over the previous days it seems I'm definitely improving when it comes to this adaptation state. I believe the 4th or 5th was my worst day, but the core 1 tiredness is a sign that I'm not waking up in any kind of sustainable sleep state just yet.
