It's been over twenty years, now. Twenty long, peaceful, and prosperous years.

And yet..... I can still hear that THING speak sometimes when I close my eyes at night. The governments of the world sought to simply chalk it up as the insane psychic ramblings of a mere monster designed to demoralize Humanity at large. The public, naturally inclined to go with the most comfortable option, chose to accept this explanation, rather than face the ramifications of what the creature spoke of.

However, I am of the intellectual mindset, and despite the speech of the P.E.M.F. identified as "Bagan" still sending chills up my spine every time I even think of it, I can't help but be curious about what exactly it meant.

Bagan was no doubt an intelligent yet egocentric being, arrogant in its own power. And with good reason too. At the most, our strongest ally, Godzilla, could only equal it in power at the time. And yet, it wasn't killed by Humanity, Gamera, and Godzilla working together. It was killed by a super weapon, a device so powerful we literally used up every last ounce of the substance needed to drive it to defeat the creature.

I find myself trying to make sense of what it said, in particular about the role we Humans play in this enormous picture. It spoke of our species being the forerunners of life itself, the creators of sapient existence in the universe. Or at least our ancestors, so it would seem. Bagan also said that its kind, the P.E.M.F.s, were the couriers of this cycle of life, and that our actions awakened them prematurely.

If this is actually true, everything we know about the universe changes. Of course, with giant monsters running around, what we know about the universe changes every few months.

But something just strikes me as odd when Bagan gave its speech to the lifeforms of Earth. I have friends who are psychologists. One in particular, a Dr. Jordan Cardinal, seemed convinced that the creature's extreme and fast-paced evolution warped its mind.

He told me that, although the confidence in which Bagan spoke to us signified that there was underlying truth in what it said, the mental explosion that happened to its brain following its evolution into the form it died in seemed to have triggered narcissistic and egotistical tendencies that stretch the that underlying truth. Very interesting, indeed.

Now that we've gone over the factual and non-factual context behind Bagan's speech to the world, it gives me renewed enthusiasm for speculation on the exact nature and background behind the P.E.M.F.s.

Good thing too, because, whilst they might've once been the scourge of humanity, they sorta just fell out of focus when the likes of Godzilla, Gamera, King Ghidorah, and the others started popping up in the modern day.

So, where do we start?

Well, I guess we have to examine what we already know about them based on our own research and Bagan's comments. It said that the P.E.M.F.s are a creation of humanity, long ago, and served as the spreaders of life across the universe. Mothra also told us that she didn't know much about the nature of the creatures, just that they were very VERY ancient.

So, I can buy into them being created by humans of some kind a long time ago. After all, we know next to nothing about life in the very beginning of existence itself, so who knows? Maybe we are the creators of life itself, in some sort of strange Adam and Eve parallel. Whatever. I'm not a religious person, nor do I care about the religious analogues.

Anyways, back to my speculation. I have this strange feeling that Bagan wasn't entirely truthful when it said that humans and P.E.M.F.s were never supposed to interact. I don't know why, but I have this lingering suspicion that the spread of life isn't entirely about these creatures.

For one thing, their bodies seem insufficient for carrying enough genetic potential to seed planets.

A P.E.M.F. would have to reach abhorrently large sizes, given their biological makeup, to be able to eventually evolve into a truly effective genetic carrier. Maybe the size of a small planetoid. And what about suns? If the P.E.M.F.s are supposed to seed planets within a stretch of space, what about the suns? Surely there must be more to them in that case.

Maybe I'm reading into this too much. Or maybe not enough. The P.E.M.F.s, even now, are giving me something to think about.

Either way, I will definitely be looking into more of this. I do wonder, though.......

The P.E.M.F.s are supposed to be a part of some great cycle of spreading life around the universe. But our research showed that their pods could be reprogrammed, as was the case of the Gyaos horde formed in the wake of the Legion Invasion fifteen years ago.

This makes me ponder on the possibility of replicating this stem cell-esque stage of the P.E.M.F life cycle artificial conditions.
