The period before a funeral

Anne's day was ruined with nine words.

“Anne, we need to talk about your funeral arrangements”

Anne who had been eating her cereal spat it out over the kitchen table

“Hop Pop, What are you talking about?”

“Well Anne I know it's a sensitive subject, but well your going to die and we need to know how you want your body treated after your the passing.”

Anne stared at him in silence.

Hop Pop took that as a sign to keep talking.

“So as you know were tight on money so we might have to go with the basic funeral option, the swamp, we just dump you body down into it so yo can decay in peace, It's not the nicest but it is within our price range of... well lets not beat around the bush, broke”

Anne was wondering what the best response to this could be one of them was to try and stop him from talking but she needed the right thing to say.

“There are some coffins available so we could bury in the graveyard, but coffins are pretty expensive and your one of the bigger inhabitants of Wartwood, so their going to charge us an arm and a leg for your coffin.”

That's when Sprig ran into the kitchen.

“Hop Pop, I just realised something, we can use a regular coffin.”

“Sprig, We went over this she's to big.”

“I know, but then I remembered she's going to die, Who says she need to be in one piece.”

“Sprig you not talking about dismemberment are you?”

“Yep.”

Hop Pop looked at Sprig shocked

“Sprig.... YOUR A GENIUS,” he turned back to Anne, “Never mind Anne the problems been solved.”

With that Hop Pop and Sprig started to walk away to work on the funeral.

“Wait what the heck are you guys talking about, I'm not dying,” Anne said rightfully terrified of the conversation that just took place.

Hop Pop turned back to Anne with a look of compasion on his face, “Oh Anne I know you want to be brave but it's okay we know your problem, We know how you bleed.”

Anne looked at the two of them and her eyes widened when she realised that they found the pads. With that Anne stood up and walked towards the door.

“Guys, I'm going to room with Marcy for the next few days.”

“Really, Why?” asked Sprig

“No reason, Just give me a few days to come to plan something.”

A few months earlier

Grime was currently working in his mess, It wasn't the biggest but it was fine enough. We was interrupted in his writing a report when he heard the knocking on his door.

“Enter.” he said gruffly.

In came his Lieutenant, the human Sasha.

She had impressed him with her ruthlessness and intelligence, The women who had transformed his army into a powerful fighting force.

And right now she had a look on her face that screamed “I wish I was anywhere else but here at the moment.”

“Leiutenant Is there something wrong?”

“Hey Grimey, Could you please help me?” Sasha generally seemed trying to be friendy but scared as well.

“Certainly, what do you need?”

“Well Grime, I've been cursed.”

Grime raised his eyebrows a little, he had no idea who could have cursed her but this was not something he could take lightly.

“What kind of curse?”

“Well once a month, my body goes through some changes and I suffer from great pain.”

“What kind of pain?”

“One that effects me in a place where I shall not mention, I bleed and act emotionally and I fear what it means, I have read something about herbs that might help but I need help getting them, Please help me”

Grime stared as Sasha.

“Sasha, Is it your time of the month?”

Sasha looked confused “You... You know about menstruation?”

“Yes, I am aware of how most women bodies act weird for a month, we kind of expect it to be a thing really, I mean unless their trans but that's another kettle of fish I rather not talk about.”

“Oh... So....?”

Grime sighed, “Talk to medical they should hook you up with something”

Sasha awkwardly rubbed her arm “Thanks”

“Lieutenant”

Sasha turned back to her commander

“I take a few days off if you need it, I can have my second in command cursed”

“Thanks sir.” she said quickly before leaving, praying that a thunderbolt would strike her dead.
