  1. Day 26: Stratosphere
  2. My descent into the Earth's atmosphere was gradual; even for re-entry standards. I wasn't going fast at all, which made no sense to me seeing as how most things would burn up at this altitude.
  3.
  4. However, I stopped falling midway through, now hovering gently over the Earth and clouds. I was flying, but it really didn't feel like flying at all, just midair suspension. I was gliding through the air, wind lightly blowing against me as I looked at the world below. I took in the sight of places that looked familiar to me; the grassy fields before the mountain, the part of the ocean where the dolphins did their coordinated jumps, the forest in which I dreamt about the "what ifs" of myself...
  5.
  6. ...I saw yet again the jazz club, the street surrounding it filled with a crowd beyond my wildest dreams, the canyon of the horse riders, continuing their everlasting circular trek, and the pyramids in which I learned about the consistency of human nature.
  7.
  8. I really thought about all the different adventures I've embarked on; how I've managed to explore several different parts of the planet, and even beyond the limits of the atmosphere. Here I was, in between the surfaced I've walked on and the infinite expanse of space that I managed to be at...
  9.
  10. Being in those places, though, were in the past; what matters is that I was here. I was in this place, and I've felt some feeling like never before. I've managed to relish every moment, no matter how chaotic or scary those things were at the time.
  11. As I focused back on the moment, I noticed that there was a large flock of birds around me; stuck in the middle, I did nothing but follow the birds in front to find the next new place to be.
  12.
  13. I took one final look at everything I've experienced, gave a melancholic smile, and turned around to fly towards the sunset.
