Your feet sink in to whatever it is you're standing on ever so slightly, and then you realize it is sand. Gulping down the odd feeling that apparition always leaves you with, you look around to take in your surroundings. You're standing on a beach near a small cottage with a gorgeous cliff-top view. You are just now thinking that you're safe when the words are taken right out of your mouth.<p>

<i>We did it, we all made it out safe!</i> You're not sure who says that, because right after you hear a faint voice saying <i>Harry Potter…</i> You turn swiftly towards the voice and see Dobby, bent over, clutching his chest as if he is in pain. Is he experiencing a heart attack? The small house elf lifts his chin to look at you, and that is when you notice the small silver dagger protruding from his chest. It feels like your lungs are deflating, and you aren't sure what to do other than to stagger towards Dobby, who looks as if he is about to collapse.</p><p>

You look down into the eyes of someone that you have called a friend for the better half of the last decade. As if he senses your sorrow, Dobby attempts to console you. <i>Such a beautiful place… to be with friends…</i> Dobby sounds tired, but he's not wrong. It is a beautiful place, you are surrounded by sea lavender.</p><p>

Almost out of nowhere, you remember the essence of dittany Hermione is carrying in her bag! <i>Hold on, Dobby!</i> you cry. <i>Hermione has something in her bag that can save you.</i> You look at Hermione. <i>Right? Hermione!</i> However, Hermione just looks back at you, dismayed. You can tell that there is nothing that you can do.</p><p>

<i>Dobby… is happy to be with friends.</i> </p><p>

That is the last words that are spoken by the bravest house elf you have ever met. You are instantly overcome with sorrow, and it threatens to overcome you until Luna is at your side. </p><p>

<i>We should close his eyes,</i> she says this before gently placing her middle and forefinger on each of Dobby's eyes and sliding them shut.</p><p>

<i>He deserves a proper burial,</i> you say. <a href="#two"><i>One without magic.</i></a>

You trek to the end of the garden, and find the perfect final resting place for your fallen friend. You decide on a plot overlooking the sea, between the bushes. Dobby would have loved it here. You begin the long task of digging his burial site, and you use the time to think of all that Dobby has done for you and your friends.<p>

Eventually, your mind begins to wander. You think of all you have been through with the search for the Horcruxes already, and all that is left in store for you in the long months ahead. The task seems daunting, impossible. But then, you look around at all of the lovely souls digging with you. Your friends have been with you from the beginning, and they will be with you until the end.</p><p>

Before you know it, you are finished digging the grave, and you are saying your last goodbyes to your dear friend, Dobby. You decide it's best to say a few words, but you are choked up. Ron pats you on the back, and you find the strength to continue.
