- Garrick says, "Okay we're going to pretend I wasn't just mugged by a gang of fish."
- Ardith asks, "Eh?"
- Ardith says, "They ain't even got hands."
- Ardith is sitting on the bridge, half flopped over the lower half of the railing.
- (Ardith)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Garrick says, "That's what makes them the most dangerous my dear. "
- Garrick exclaims, "The sleight of hand!"
- Garrick would take a seat beside Ardith as he kicked his feet over the edge of the bridge, flashing the accursed a toothy, draconic smile as he made himself comfortable.
- (Garrick)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Ardith asks, "What's up with that 'my dear', bullshit?"
- Garrick asks, "Why, haven't we already discussed I'm a terrible liar?"
- Ardith says, "That ain't an answer."
- Garrick says, "True."
- Garrick says, "I dunno, I guess I just thought it sounded fancier than "you have a pretty face"."
- Garrick says, "Though I can work with that too."
- Garrick whispers: Would you prefer I stop?
- Garrick says, "I whispered specifically so as not to show the fish my hand. I see him watching behind the tree over there."
- Ardith says, "...I ain't belong to anyone. So yeah."
- Garrick says, "Why, of course you don't! "
- Garrick whispers: That fiery independence of thought is what drew me to you in the first place.
- Garrick whispers: Fish bastards...
- Ardith says, "Then none of that 'my dear', stuff. That's all."
- Garrick says, "Then it's settled. We'll cross my dear off the list."
- Ardith asks, "They ain't like you. Do they?"
- Garrick says, "No...no they do not."
- Garrick says, "I suspect they're envious of my scales. Fish have always envied dragons."
- Ardith asks, "What're you doing out here anyway?"
- Garrick says, "Mmm."
- Garrick asks, "Would it sound pathetic if I said trying to get as strong as I pretend to be?"
- Ardith says, "Lil' bit. Might be honest at least."
- Garrick says, "Well..."
- Garrick says, "Honest works...if it's just us anyways."
- Ardith asks, "That right?"
- Ardith gives Garrick a skeptical look.
- (Ardith)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Garrick would raise his talons innocently before his vest, flashing a toothy grin to Ardith with a mock innocent expression....before taking a light sigh as the drakan's face fell just a bit. Perhaps just a bit less pompous and proud.
- "Hey, there are certainly worse places to let down one's guard beside a beautiful woman. And you haven't stabbed me yet, that's usually a good start with trusting people. I'm...not so good at that part."
- (Garrick)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Normally she likes the flattery, the praise, the adoration. Perhaps the hangover dulls it, tremendous as it is.
- Still, to his credit, he's amusing. She scoffs, snorts, and looks back towards the water.
- "Funny thing. I got the horns and tail, but I'm not gonna' stab you for no reason. That's angel work."
- (Ardith)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Garrick would glance behind Ardith for a moment at the mention of tails, molten gaze turning upwards towards her horns before back to her own eyes. The toothy smile remains wide, but the drake's expression perhaps lightens a bit as he nods in assent.
- "I'll scratch angels off the compliment list then. Terribly mundane anyways, you're far more interesting than some half chicken. I suppose it's in my best interests to avoid giving you valid stabbing grounds."
- The drake would bark out in light hearted laughter, scratching at the scales upon his wrists as his glance fell briefly. Yet, his eyes would reignite with their familiar molten glow as his draconic smile spread once more, gesturing before himself with his hands.
- "So, what's your dream Ardith?"
- (Garrick)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- She doesn't look quite so impressive as normal. Given that she is dealing with a double hangover and literally looks as if she's been hung out to dry.
- "My dream?" she says, tasting the words.
- "...I dunno. Wanted a mansion when I got here. I already got that.
- "So I guess...all I want now? To get more power so I can make sure I keep getting what I want."
- Simple. Right?
- "You?"
- (Ardith)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- If Ardith looked disheveled, Garrick's impression of her did not appear to change from it. It might have something to do with the fact that he felt about as equally terrible from alcohol poisoning, or simply that he found the look of abject misery to be not half bad on the horned girl. The drakan had his tastes.
- "I like it. Not everyone needs to save the world to feel good about themselves; personal advancement is a virtue worthy of being praised. I suppose we're not much different in that regard, I must become far more powerful to fulfill my dream..."
- The drakan would kick his feet together over the edge of the bridge as he glanced at Ardith, gaze held upon her visage with a searching look as his smile fell for a moment, seeming to roll the dice on whether she was going to laugh at him for it or not.
- "I'm barely a newt right now. A salamander on a good day. But I dream....of being a true dragon! So strong my will is absolute, my hoard of treasure excessive, my scales near invulnerable to that which might deign to challenge me. A winged sovereign of the sky, the apex predator of the mountain tops and clouds...my blood demands I do so, or die trying. I cannot be a false drake."
- (Garrick)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- "The world? Nah. I don't care 'bout the world."
- It's true. Or seems it. She really doesn't care about the world at large. It didn't concern her as a peasant and it sure as Hel doesn't concern her now. Until she wants something from it of course.
- "Power's what it comes down to. Always. And if a lizard like you can become a dragon? Maybe I can become something more to."
- She already is. She's already better than any piddly human. Any little angel. Who's to say it has to stop there though? Her body still isn't done changing to suit the magic that courses through her circuits.
- "Sounds more exciting than what everyone else here is doing too."
- (Ardith)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Garrick would flash his wide, draconic grin with fresh gusto as he stood up upon the bridge, spreading his arms out with a threatric pose as his molten eyes held their glance upon the horned girls form, barking out in amusement at the sharp, barbed wit of the accursed.
- "Why Ardith, there are no lizards like me. You'll figure it out eventually."
- The drakan cracked his back as he glanced up at the sky, recognizing that night had fallen upon the city without his notice. Stretching his scaled, sharp taloned hand to offer Ardith assistance in rising, Garrick turned his attention to the city beyond this pretty little bridge.
- "It is getting late, about time you got home. I look forward to speaking more to you in time Ardith, assuming you can tolerate me."
- (Garrick)
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Confidence. It's refreshing. She gives him a dreary smirk and rises to a stand.
- "Eh. Maybe. Keep the backscratchers coming and we'll see. Later, Gar."
- (Ardith)
