  38. >Fall into hell...?
  39.
  40. p03
  41. >It's nothing, don't mind me.
  42.
  43. >...?
  44.
  45. >Come on, let me wash your back!
  46. >Wai- I get it...
  47.
  48. p04
  49. -Each of us has their own reason to fight.
  50.
  51. p07
  52. >Take it out!
  53. >Understood!
  54.
  55. p08
  56. >Our fifth mission was another cakewalk, huh?
  57. >Are you getting used to it?
  58. >Yes, a little bit.
  59.
  60. >I've already called cleanup, so let's head back.
  61.
  62. p09
  63. >A male resident in Nagoya has died of acute heart failure.
  64. >Captain?
  65.
  66. >Captain Kaminoi!
  67. >Hm?
  68. >What is it?
  69.
  70. >What do you mean, "what"?
  71. >You said you were going to tell me about that incident from back in training.
  72.
  73. >Sorry, sorry. I did promise.
  74. >Please pull yourself together.
  75.
  76. >Let's see... then... have you been briefed on Astral Bodies?
  77. >Not yet.
  78.
  79. >But have you at least heard about it?
  80.
  81. >No.
  82.
  83. p10
  84. >The mind and the spirit... You can think of them simply as spiritual bodies of sorts.
  85. >They're similar to electromagnetic energy, but they govern the consciousness of all living things.
  86. >We call them Astral Bodies.
  87.
  88. >You already know that the brain uses electromagnetic signals to transmit information, right?
  89. >Yes, I know about that.
  90.
  91. >Those electric signals also come from your Astral Body.
  92. >This energy governs your consciousness, but...
  93.
  94. >What does all of this have to do with being a Bastioner?
  95. >The organ that generates the energy for your Astral Body is your heart.
  96. >So it's the same as us Bastioners?
  97.
  98. p11
  99. >That's right. The Astral Body also comes from the heart,
  100. >so you can say that it flows through your body much like how blood does.
  101. >Aegis energy is just a part of the Astral Body.
  102.
  103. >Then, the reason why we can't use Aegis to enhance our own bodies...
  104. >is because the energy we use just goes back to our own Astral Body?
  105. >Exactly. You picked up on that quick.
  106.
  107. >Since Aegis energy is just one part of our spirit...
  108. >We need to pour this energy into each other's body and spirit.
  109. >...? I see.
  110.
  111. >Don't you think it's lewd?
  112. >That's sexual harassment.
  113.
  114. p12
  115. >Let's end it here for today.
  116. >Eh? But we were just getting started.
  117.
  118. >Tomorrow's the entrance ceremony, right?
  119. >You have an early start.
  120.
  121. >I'm already working, so why do I even need to attend classes...?
  122. >I just want to distance myself from school...
  123.
  124. >It's good to have the perspective you can only get from education.
  125.
  126. >You never know if you can keep being a Bastioner for life.
  127. >.....
  128. >I'm not interested in any other line of work.
  129.
  130. p13
  131. >Have a nice day!
  132.
  133. >...I'll be going now.
  134.
  135. >Matters concerning Bastioners like the wall and our enemies are all classified information, so civilians don't know anything about them.
  136. >Don't tell anyone, okay?
  137. >I understand.
  138.
  139. >Good morning!
  140.
  141. >Eh!?
  142.
  143. p14
  144. >I'll be a senior starting today.
  145. >Then we should have gone to school together...
  146.
  147. >Prank successful!
  148.
  149. >That's why you had me go on ahead?
  150.
  151. >Haah...
  152.
  153. >Arasara-san?
  154. >?
  155.
  156. p15
  157. >You read it as "Aratsugu."
  158. >Ah, so it's Aratsugu-san, then? Sorry.
  159. >I'm Aoki Sae. My seat's just over there, so let's get along, okay?
  160. >Sure.
  161.
  162. >Let me in on that too!
  163. >Name's Kakizaki Maho. (NOTE: This girl has been mentioned in the top scorer board in chapter 1, but the surname is apparently read as Kakizaki, not Sakazaki)
  164. >Ah, she and I have been friends since elementary school.
  165. >Nice to meetcha!
  166. >Sure.
  167.
  168. >Your hair's really beautiful, Aratsugu-san!
  169. >Do you have any foreigners in the family?
  170.
  171. >No, everyone's Japanese...
  172.
  173. >Still, your hair's so nice!
  174.
  175. p16
  176. >How was class today?
  177. >Nothing special.
  178.
  179. >Did you make any friends?
  180.
  181. >.....
  182. >I've never had any friends aside from Haruka,
  183. >so I don't know if I really made any...
  184.
  185. >Being friends doesn't need any formal agreement.
  186. >It's something that just happens eventually.
  187. >Did you ever make a promise to be "friends from now on" with Haruka-chan?
  188.
  189. >...I didn't...
  190.
  191. >You can get along even without any agreements. Friendship's strong like that.
  192.
  193. p18
  194. >Aratsugu-san?
  195. >Yesh...
  196.
  197. >Can we eat with you?
  198. >Me too!
  199. >Sure...
  200.
  201. >You look really sleepy. Are you tired?
  202. >No... Yeah... just a bit...
  203.
  204. >Your lunch looks really good!
  205. >Did someone at home make it?
  206. >Umm... my senpai who lives with me made it.
  207. >"Lives with you?"
  208.
  209. p19
  210. >Don't tell me... are you living with your girlfriend!? (NOTE: You can use "lover" here, but I personally hate that translation since nobody that I know of who speaks English actually uses "lover" to refer to someone they're going out with. This is a yuri story anyway.)
  211. >Eh? But we just started high school!
  212.
  213. >That's not it... she's less like a senpai and more like a superior...
  214. >"Roommate" would be more appropriate, I guess...
  215.
  216. >Heeeh...
  217. >She even makes you lunch? I'm a bit envious.
  218.
  219. >Would you like to have some?
  220.
  221. >Then let's exchange side dishes!
  222. >Oh, great idea!
  223. >What would you like?
  224.
  225. p20
  226. >Yorino-chan.
  227. >Yorino-chan?
  228.
  229. >Anyone there?
  230. >?
  231. >Yes...?
  232.
  233. >What do you want for dinner?
  234. >Nothing in particular... As long as it's food, I'll be happy.
  235.
  236. >Is something wrong? You've been spacing out for a while now.
  237.
  238. >I think... I made some friends today.
  239. >Oh, that's good.
  240.
  241. p21
  242. >Up until now, I could only think about defeating my enemies for Haruka's sake...
  243. >but today, I was able to take my mind away from the threat of invasion, even for just a little bit.
  244.
  245. >Yeah... that's important too...
  246.
  247. p22
  248. >Yorino-chan!!
  249.
  250. p23
  251. >Kuh...!
  252.
  253. p24
  254. >It's just a Colossal type, but it's pretty strong...
  255. >You bastard! (or) "Take this!" (NOTE: I'm pretty sure that it's the first one, but the way she said it here makes me doubt myself a bit.)
  256.
  257. >You alright?
  258. >Thank you.
  259.
  260. p25
  261. >I'll cut off its arm,
  262. >so use that opening to go for the eye!
  263.
  264. >Understood!
  265.
  266. p27
  267. >I missed...!
  268.
  269. p29
  270. ...!
  271.
  272. p30
  273. >Are you okay?
  274. >.....
  275.
  276. >I saw something that looked like a person inside it...
  277.
  278. >.....
  279.
  280. >Let's head back...
  281. >You're just tired...
  282.
  283. p31
  284. >Make sure to eat your breakfast.
  285. >...! Sorry. Thank you for the meal...
  286.
  287. >Now for our next story.
  288. >A male office worker living in Nagoya suddenly passed away today.
  289.
  290. p32
  291. >According to reports, Horiuchi Kouji suddenly collapsed and lost consciousness in the middle of work.
  292. >He was immediately brought to a nearby hospital, but was confirmed dead on arrival.
  293.
  294. >What's wrong?
  295. >I-It's him...
  296.
  297. p33
  298. >He... was the man inside that Kaijuu
  299. >we neutralized yesterday...
  300.
  301. >Haaah... So it got on the news, huh?
  302. >What do you mean...!?
  303.
  304. >Hmmm...
  305.
  306. >I knew someone strong like you would find out sooner or later...
  307. >I guess I can't hide it from you anymore...
  308. >?
  309.
  310. p34
  311. >Whenever we kill a Kaijuu,
  312. >Exactly one human from this world dies as well.
