- Flailing the rifle as a club, he drove through the swarm of attackers to where the body of Bloody Hand lay almost hidden in the deep shadow of a rock. Dropping the rifle he caught the dead chief by his rawhide string belt and throat and swung it high above his head.
- “Look!” he roared in a stentorian voice that boomed its echoes off the rocks. “Look at your great leader now. You have followed him for a long time. You know where he has gone now. Are you eager to follow him to that place, too?”
