  1. Guide to breeding a stable full of "Perfect" Chocobos by DynamixDJ

  7. Throughout this guide, you will be maxing out all stats for all five colours
  8. of Chocobos, without using hacks. We will exploit the broken RNG mechanics to
  9. breed precisely 12 times, and by the end, we will have a set of Chocobos that
  10. all share the following stats:

  12. MDash = 6000 (Top Sprint = 176 KPH) (MDash / 34 = KPH)
  13. MRun = 5900 (Normal Running Speed = 173 KPH) (MRun / 34 = KPH)
  14. Stamina = 9999 (Stamina = 999) (Stamina / 10 = Stamina)
  15. Intelligence = 100
  16. Coop = 100
  17. Acceleration = 80
  18. Type = Wonderful
  19. Personality = 2 (Dashing while in the lobby screen at the races).

  21. Note that this is the 2nd version of this guide. In the first version, none
  22. of the Chocobos was personality 2 (dashing in the lobby screen), and most of
  23. them were "Great". In version 2, I've managed to get them all Wonderful, all
  24. Personality 2, and also using fewer Greens (although one more breed was
  25. required).
  26.  
  27. Additionally, we do not need to race using this method (unlike version 1),
  28. which means you can start and finish this if you wish as soon as you obtain
  29. the Highwind (before the Gold Saucer reopens). The only downside to this is
  30. the fact that you won't be able to check your stats as you go along, which is
  31. a necessary step, so I suggest only getting to step 12 until the Gold Saucer
  32. opens. When you test your Chocobos in the races to confirm stats, be sure
  33. not to race them as it will affect the RNG dice roll.

  36. WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO ACQUIRE:
  37.  
  38. - All 6 barns purchased
  39. - 1 x Captured Wonderful Chocobo in the pen (Icicle Area alongside 1 or 2
  40. Jumping)
  41. - 1 x Captured Great Chocobos in the pen (Mideel alongside 1 or 2 Spiral)
  42. - 1 x Captured Chocobo of any type in the pen
  43. - 99 Sylkis Greens in inventory (287 needed in total). Bought from the
  44. Chocobo Sage
  45. - 5 Reagan Greens. Bought from the Chocobo Sage
  46. - 99 Mimett Greens in inventory (103 needed in total). Bought from Chocobo
  47. Billy
  48. - 4 Tantal Greens. Bought from Chocobo Billy
  49. - 23 Krakka Greens. Bought from Chocobo Billy
  50. - 3 Carob Nuts. Stolen from Vlakorados near Bone Village
  51. - 9 Zeio Nuts. Stolen from the Goblins on Goblin Island
  52. - 976,000 reserve gil for the remaining Greens
  53.  
  54. In total, you'll need 1,611,850 gil to cover the cost of all the Greens. One
  55. x Mastered All sells for 1,400,000 (as if you didn't already know)!

  58. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  59.  
  60. Unlike most other areas in FFVII, the RNG marker does not increase when
  61. standing in the barn area, which means the "randomness" isn't actually
  62. random, and the internal RNG can be manipulated to produce a Chocobo with
  63. predetermined results.
  64.  
  65. When you perform a hard reset, the RNG Marker will reset to 0. The highest
  66. value it can reach is 255, after which it will reset back to 0 again. This
  67. means that there are 256 different possible outcomes wheen breeding 2
  68. specific Chocobos, and my task has been to go through all 256 variations for
  69. each stage of breeding to note down the "best" possible outcomes (plural),
  70. then to trial and error the optimal route to getting to gold, while
  71. maintaining the most optimal stats.
  72.  
  73. We can perform set actions which increase the RNG by a determined value:
  74.  
  75. Entering the Pen area ----- +2
  76. Feeding Krakka Greens ----- +1
  77. Feeding Tantal Greens ----- +3
  78. Feeding Reagan Greens ----- +6
  79. Feeding Sylkis Greens ----- +7
  80.  
  81. Other greens that affect the RNG; however, the above list cites only the ones
  82. that we will be using. Releasing a Chocobo does not affect the RNG, although
  83. moving and breeding do, and the amount that the RNG increases by varies
  84. depending on certain factors (primarily the RNG value at the time of
  85. breeding/moving).
  86.  
  87. YOU MUST perform a hard reset (as opposed to a soft reset) when instructed to
  88. do so, which means completely resetting your PS1 (as opposed to holding the
  89. shoulder buttons + start + select), or, closing down the app you are using
  90. and rebooting it. This way the RNG will reset to 0 each time.
  91.  
  92. Battling on the World Map will not affect the field RNG, nor will purchasing
  93. Greens from Billy. It is important to note, however, that you must not linger
  94. around in the Pen area (where you store your caught Chocobos). After roughly
  95. 4 seconds or so, the RNG will begin to advance by two every 2 seconds. ALWAYS
  96. run into the stables as quickly as you can from the World Map (you do have a
  97. bit of leeway; it doesn't need to be a perfect sprint, just don't dilly-
  98. dally).

  100. Lastly, the stats we are focusing on maxing are MDash and MRun, as these are
  101. the only stats you can boost via Chocobo breeding. All other stats are easy
  102. to max out. For more info on Chocobo stats, visit this topic.

  105. So, you have all the items as listed above, and you're ready to go?
  106. Excellent. Make a fresh save outside the Chocobo Farm and let's go then!

  109. MOVING CHOCOBOS
  110.  
  111. You should have a Wonderful, Great and "spare" Chocobo of any type waiting in
  112. the pen area. It is important to note that you must have an empty barn at
  113. this point, as the stable positions do matter. You must follow these
  114. instructions exactly, i.e. when instructed to release a Chocobo, make sure to
  115. do so. Any deviation from these steps will likely cause inconsistent results.
  116.  
  117. Also, I shall be instructing you on how to name your Chocobos for the sake of
  118. reference. Once we get to the final breeds, you'll be free to call them as
  119. you wish.

  121. 1 -- Hard reset and run into the barn (without hanging around in the "Pen"

  131. Before doing anything else, we'll need to max out Acceleration using Mimett
  132. Greens. Buying Greens from Chocobo Billy will not have any effect on the RNG.
  133. Make sure to continue without having left the screen, with the RNG still @
  134. 208.

  139. Note that when feeding Mimett Greens you have a 75% chance it'll increase
  140. Acceleration by 0, and a 25% chance it'll increase it by 1, which is why we

  159. (you won't be able to verify your Normal Running Speed, just Sprint Speed and
  160. Stamina). To play it safe, save before heading to the Gold Saucer then reload
  161. your save after verifying your Chocobo's stats. This way you'll keep the race
  162. count at 0 for each Chocobo.

  357. keep note of how many additional battles you fought). Before resetting, check
