Mega Man 2024 Relay Interest

Hello and Good Timezone everyone.

To better plan for a Spring 2024 Classic Mega Relay Race, the mod team is looking for volunteers to help with organizing and running the race. From the exact format to restreaming, we're looking for volunteers to assist with the event, along with a few community races between now and then to work on our tech.

We'll link a Google Form at the bottom of this for anyone interested to let us know they are interested. We want to have (organizer) teams in place before the end of October, so try and respond by the 15th. It's not a hard deadline, and we know life has surprises, but please try to get involved as soon as you can. (Don't be shy!)

Restream Team (Stream Tech & Commentary)

Krissy has been restreaming the overwhelming majority of qualifying races (and the relay itself) the last few years, and he's done a pretty good job (Thank you!) That said even he needs some days off, so we want to have other restreamers available for races.

We're looking for a handful of individuals with good internet connections (at LEAST 30 mbp/sec) and some OBS knowhow to run the setups for qualifying races. This means your computer needs to be capable of streaming multiple racers and switching between streams. We do have a setup to do this, but we still want restreamers to have practice with it so they're not doing it the first time during the relay. (Also so we have backups in case something happens to their internet connection on relay day).


So they will have a chance to hone their craft on ... COMMUNITY RACES

This might be less exciting that it sounds, but we do want to have some big races this fall before the relay season begins. While the real purpose is to get restreamers into shape, these are always just fun, so keep an eye out in #race-announcements .

We can also always use good commentary! Commentating one of these races helps us know you're interested when relay time comes around.

Longer term, this team could have the opportunity to restream other community events beyond the main relay, but we can't even consider setting these up before we have a team.

Relay Planning

We can always use help planning and running the actual event. This includes deciding on a format and a way of deciding teams and possibly captains, watching qualifying races, and all of the little things that come up near race day. This team would also be responsible for handling contingencies, corner cases, and other unexpected situations (like someone having to drop out of the relay the night before).

Art & Advertising on a $0 budget

Advertising ... feedback from the 2023 Relay included a lot of "I didn't know it was happening." We know that involves more than a few tweet or blue skies or whatever, but we can't spread the word without you.

ART - Advertising is kinda included in the art department, but stream layouts and intro/outro screens are a thing too. Again, our budget is $0, so this is 100% a passion project volunteer job, but we're
