- Intro
- So, to preface this, I was massively busy for most of the tournament, and past R1 this is my first exposure to these teams, and these arguments.
- I will be checking this judgment with the other judges or (only if it is explicitly mentioned) check previous rounds for arguments mentioned. Feel free to DM me if there are misunderstandings.
- Caerula is ruled in-tier, I will be judging with her in mind.
- I’ll get right to it, then.
- Notes:
- I buy Caerula and Samus’ argued speeds from Nerf with some reservations. While Guy successfully argues them down, he doesn’t do so in a way that precludes them being fast relative to team Guy.
- I do not buy Mirror Master will be able to ambush Team Nerf a-la stick his gun out of a mirror and fire without saying anything. Guy does not adequately address antifeats where he fails to ambush heroes who seem less environmentally aware than Team Nerf.
- I buy Guy’s point in that Caerula’s telepathy is not necessarily passive
- I don’t however, buy that it is something she won’t/can’t turn on knowing she’s in a fight, before Mirror Master starts to make his moves. Given the above I think Mirror Master won’t just stealth drop on Team Nerf and there will be some sort of head’s up.
- Likewise, I agree with Guy that Samus needs to turn on her visor, but she is demonstrably fast and immediately uses this when suspecting illusions and the like.
- I agree that Caerula will be able to anger Lyra in a manner similar to the tiersetter. I do not agree she will be able to do so in the specific way She-Hulk did but in a way that is sufficient to lower Lyra to a level to where Lyra can be hurt by her.
- I agree that Lyra will try to avoid the beams from Samus / unknown attacks.
- I disagree that Lyra is fast enough to do so long enough to beat Caerula and Samus.
- I agree Mirror Master will be able to locate Team Nerf eventually, but Nerf puts in enough doubt that he would be able to do this within moments of the match starting.
- I agree he can take Lyra with him.
- I am iffy on if Caerula and Samus can get to Team Guy faster than vice versa, however. Nerf doesn’t really argue his own team’s initiative as much as he attacks Guys’.
- I have a hard time buying Guy’s marvel scaling just looking at his scans. Like one of the first ones I opened shows Hermes, who Lyra supposedly scales to, blitzing a character she is supposed to be able to fight regularly (to which Guy pedals back on the scan R3 because it’s a random 70’s comic while using random 70’s scans in the same comment and having introduced this random 70’s scan in the first place). Add in Nerf’s actual rebuttals and arguments and there is, in fact, enough holes poked in here for me to doubt Lyra can keep up with Caerula. I can maybe see her dodging some attacks from Samus but not consistently.
- I have a hard time buying Mirror Master’s speed as presented. Yes, he is a flash villain, but Nerf puts enough reasonable doubt in the clones being a reaction compared to prep + antifeat dumps hard enough for me to feel Caerula just cuts his hand off if he sticks it out to shoot her.
- I think Nerf arguing Lyra struggling with monkeys is dumb. I think her scaling to mount rushmore busting is too.I feel like the subway punch/throw/etc is indicative of her strength. A big part of what sells this to me is Guy’s supporting scans of her doing bigly strong feats.
- I buy Lyra’s durability less with the antifeats but it’s still higher than what Caerula and Samus put out. I think hits from Caerula and Samus would pose some threat to her but in terms of pure force have trouble hurting her.
- I do, however, buy that Caerula can reliably piss Lyra off, as well as Nerf’s argued physicals for Caerula and Alita which aren’t contested greatly by Guy.
- Overall:
- I feel like Mirror Master will take a lot longer than Guy argues he will to pin down Samus and Caerula but at the same time Team Nerf has no argued ways of reaching them before he does.
- When he ambushes them, Nerf antifeat dumped hard enough for me to buy that Caerula and Samus speedblitz him on entry, killing him.
- I think with an ambush Lyra has a decent shot of oneshotting Samus but lacks the speed to take down Caerula before a protracted fight is started. Lyra’s durability is argued down enough to where I see Caerula whittling her down while angering her, her speed argued down enough that I don’t think she will fare much better than Alita against Caerula. If Samus isn’t the first victim of the ambush she can also freeze ray Lyra while she’s attempting to hit Caerula.
- Winner: Nerf
