#### For a few years now, even before I became a furry, I always used a vulpine-esque animal as my profile picture. It allowed me to express and seperate myself from other people. That all started the day i changed my xbox gamertag along with my profile picture to complement the change. It was a picture of Fox McCloud that an artist on DeviatArt drew. I chose that picture in particular because of the fond memories I have involving the Star Fox series, so when Microsoft allowed custom profile pictures I immediately took advantage. Ever since then I've had encounters with furries from all over the world who originally had mistaken me for a furry because of my profile picture. After those encounters I started to do research on the fandom and the more I started to learn, the more I started to become a closeted furry.  It originally was an unwelcomed feeling, considering I associated with a group of extremely toxic people who ostracized anyone who feel outside the norm; furries included. But over the course of three years that feeling subsided and at the beginning of April this year I finally accepted the fact that I was a furry and eventually came out to friends about being one only to find out that they were extremely supportive of me. I joined the fandom to escape the day-to-day toxicity I dealt with and I have not had any regrets since joining.
