Kid Kris, Asriel, and Noelle go trick or treating

Kris trembled. It was not just because of the breeze.

The door swung open, and light spilled out. There was a lady in the doorway with a large bag of candy. She was wearing thick glasses, and strained to see the children in front of her.

"Oh, goodness. Look at you three."

The lady handed a lollipop to Noelle, who half cowered behind Kris. "Such a cute little angel." Her wings bobbed up and down as she took it and dropped it into her bag.

Asriel was bouncing in place. "And a devil! Watch out with that pitchfork." He grabbed the candy as soon as it was within reach.

"And what do we have here?" The lady looked Kris up and down, at their white face paint, and their gloves, and the horns on their head.

Toriel had helped them prepare. They had stood in front of a mirror for a long time before going out, only looking, while Asgore took pictures.

The lady ruffled Kris's hair. "Aren't you supposed to wear a costume, you little monster?"

A warm feeling spread through their body.

She gave Kris a lollipop. "And one more for you. You kids have fun!"
