lonely vampire Keith Kogane (Sheith, Vampire AU. Send x for long starter! ): It had been so long that Keith had talked to anyone, isloated as he was out here. There used to be a town nearby, many decades ago, maybe centuries. Keith didn't exactly bother to keep tabs on how much time had passed. All he knew was that slowly what once had been Daibazaal, was a ghost town now. It had been a long time since Keith had visited, too. But now, Keith felt awkard, stiff, unsure of how to hold the conversation. Then again, even before turning, he had never been one for conversation much. "I couldn't exactly leave you to freeze on my porch. You would have attracted too many animals, that's for sure," he commented off-hand, waiting for the soup to boil. It was silence that stretched long, until he finally turned around at last, a bowl of soup in hand. Walking over, he roughly pushed Kosmo off the stranger's lap and deposited the food. "Eat. You are still much too cold and there's only so much a blanket can do." Finally in the light, Keith exposed himself fully. Dressed in a white blouse and a dark brown vest, long hair falling over his shoulders, messy and unbrushed. It had grown a lot in the passing time, but while Keith used to tie it up once, he now didn't bother. In general, his care for his looks -which used to be of such importance during his lifetime- had gone out the window with no one to care about it or scold it. Keith's skin was pale, all that was left of a well-fed vampire's natural beauty were his eyes, once blue and now unnaturally deep in colour, purple. "Once hte storm lets up you can leave."


Takashi Shirogane: “Thank you.” He mumbled as he took hold of the bowl, looking off to watch the wolf seemingly turn in place, disappointed about having been kicked out of his spot in the bed presumably. It was a shame but Shiro couldn’t really invite the animal who wasn’t his into a bed that also wasn’t his to be inviting anyone into. “I will.” He nodded, shifting to sit properly with his legs out on the side of the bed, this suddenly made him dizzy, leaning off to the side before quickly catching himself with an arm on the bed, luckily he hadn’t spilled any of the soup on the bed. “Ah, sorry... I wouldn’t want to be rude and eat on your bed.”

Instinctively, the vampire reached out to hold him upright. The warmth of a body, human and alive and healthy, nearly scorched at his freezing palms. It almost felt like what it should feel like when Keith produced flames. But alas, the only one those flames didn't effect were himself, a cruel joke of nature or whoever had created this curse of vampirism. "It is not rude," Keith replied with a frown, quickly taking back his hands. Keith had never heard of eating in bed being rude. Royals and nobles did it all the time when they were too sick to get up. "You are ill. Thus you eat in bed." He huffed, finally pulling the chair closer to the bed and sitting down. "Besides, it is not my bed. These are your guest chambers for the remainer of your stay." There were plenty of guest rooms in this mansion too big for Keith's own. Without servants, though, the place had come to waste away, too. Dusty with cowebs in many places where Keith didn't bother to clean them away anymore. Crows and bats had come to live with him in the mansion, his only companions, mostly residing in the hall on the tall ceiling, loving the chandeliers.

Takashi Shirogane: Shiro flinched away at the icy touch of the other’s hand. It startled him, such temperatures being far too unnatural from a person to let them go by unnoticed. But what could he say? His host looked healthy, perhaps tired and wary, but still full of youth and health. He suddenly felt unnerved by him, why was he so pale? So thin? Perhaps his first judgement of health had been misguided. Perhaps this man himself too was terribly ill with something Shiro simply couldn’t name. “Right, thank you again.” He mumbled and just decided he could just eat and not worry too much about the situation. The place seemed old, unused... must be a large place if the other couldn’t keep up with it. “Do you live alone?”

      "You are most welcome," Keith answered and sat back in the chair, brushing his long hair over one shoulder. Suddenly he felt all too self-conscious. When was the last time he had bathed? Ah, just yesterday after he had run into a cobweb inhabiting an entire doorframe! Thank god. But it had been so long since he had brushed his hair, it must have looked horribly dishevelled. Keith did not remember the last time he had bothered to iron his blouse. At the very least, he still automatically went about wearing the proper set of clothing, undergarments, blouse, vest and all, so that eased the slightest bit of embarrassment. Ah, but he really had let himself get wasted away, hadn't he? How utterly embarrassing. He should have tied up his hair at least. Keith spaced out then, only taken back to the present when the stranger spoke up once more. "I do," he said instinctively, only for the wolf to huff where he had curled up at the foot of the queen-sized bed. "Well, mostly. I have found that a pet takes away some of the illusion of solitude. So do crows and bats and spiders." He huffed in amusement. Then he perked up once more. "How terribly rude of me. My name is Keith Kogane of Marmora. As far as I am concerned, I am the owner of this mansion." After Keith had found it. No one had come to claim it yet. "May I ask what your name is?"

Takashi Shirogane: “A wolf seems like a rather eccentric pet doesn’t it?” He wondered out loud with a small laugh. Quietly eating the the soup as the other suddenly thought to introduce himself. Seems in this area of manners they had both been lacking hadn’t they? “Right- sorry I forgot. In the moment it escaped me.” He shook his head, there was something about the other that simply made him act and feel different? Maybe only slightly. It was a very odd stranger after all. “My name is Takashi Shirogane. But if it makes it any easier for you I won’t mind if you take to calling me Shiro. Most people do.” He explained, letting his eyes wander around the room to all the old embellishments. Dusty velvet curtains. Crystal coffee tables littered in dead leaves blown in at some point, attached to the table now with cobwebs.

In truth, he was surprised to be offered a nickname so early on in their accquantaince, but he chose not to mention it. This stranger was odd anyway, in many ways. But Keith supposed that much time had passed and much must have changed. New things Keith had not experienced or seen yet. For the first time in a long while Keith was curious, the curiosity only dying when it was combatted with anxiety and fear of how he'd react to the outside world. He could handle one bloodbag with legs, but he was afraid of too many around him being too tempting. "Mr. Shiro it is then." He gave it a firm nod. "Eccentric is not exactly what I'd call it. Eccentric would perhaps be a lion. But I'm no king and perhaps a wolf suits me better. Oddly enough, they can be very much like just about any dog." Keith smiled at Kosmo who was simply lazying around now. "After all, they /are/ related." And, perhaps, how Kosmo was basically just a wild primal version of a dog, Keith was now a wild primal version of a human, perhaps. Although he did not feel much like a human most of the time. A ghost perhaps. "Mr. Shiro, how is the soup? It has been a long while that I have cooked a proper meal." Especially, trying to find just about anything that wasn't rotten. Thankfully, while his guest had been asleep, Keith had found a cookbook and the cold did not bother him enough to prevent him from going outside to find ingredients. "I hope mushrooms are to your liking?"

Takashi Shirogane: “Still seems rather strange to me. I’ve heard of people keeping wolves as pets, but none nearly as domestic as yours seems to be. Rather impressive.” He looked at the wolf for a moment, then attempted to bring some more of the soup up to his mouth, only to find his spoon was empty now. He bowl along side it. “Thank you.” He mumbled as he noticed his empty bowl, turning his head to watch the pouring rain still falling just outside. “How long have I been here? I can’t quite tell if is the evening or morning. But I certainly arrived some time around midnight.”

"Which means, don't let yourself be fooled, just because you are not pray he's chosen." Which, perhaps was an eerie thing to say. But Keith knew all too well how similar he and his wolf were. They hunted together, when the weather was better. And while Kosmo ate his pray, Keith sucked them dry or dragged them home to pour their blood into a glass or mix it with wine if he was feeling more civilised. "You arrived around midnight, that is true." Keith's midday. "It is evening now. You've only rested for about a day, but I believe hunger must have woken you. If you would rather go back to resting, it is quite aright. Otherwise, I suppose you are free to explore." Keith stood then, walking towards the wardrobe. Opening it up, he huffed as he tore at cowebs and pulled out a set of clothes, gave them a good shake until he could be sure there was no more dust. He supposed that the spiders had eaten all the moss. "Don't be afraid, these are still perfectly good to wear. And, I believe they are just so your size, but if not, I can try find you better fitting clothes." Keith pushed Kosmo off the bed all the way now, receiving an annoyed yowl. But clearly, the dog was just fine. He set the clothes down beside Shiro then. A blouse, a vest, a jacket, proper pair of pants and stockings as well as even undergarments. All very old-fashioned of course. "I'm afraid I cannot offer much of grooming supplies, but whatever you find here, you can use." Keith had not exactly checked what was in the dressers and such.

Takashi Shirogane: Shiro went ahead to stand up- careful as a dizzy spell seemed to linger with him. Perhaps he was feeling warmer than usual too. Maybe he had come Ill with something after spending the night outside in the rain until Keith had taken pity on him and let him in. “These are just fine, thank you...” he trailed off, looking at the clothes. Too old fashioned to be something that one wears on the daily. But then again it does seem this is what his host would wear on a daily basis. How strange... but it might be unwise to ask why everything seemed so outdated. Old. Abandoned... perhaps this was some sort of strange fever dream? After being the night under the water he must’ve gotten a fever that was now feeding him a strange grand home while he slept... but no, this seemed too real. “I’ll make due. I won’t bother you long.”

Send x for long starter! ): Keith himself still felt terrible in his appearance and he kept trying to tame his hair, brush it with his slightly clawed fingers. But he knew it hopeless without a proper comb and the right supplies. Ugh. "You seem hesitant. Are the clothes aright?" Keith was, despite his previous isolation, still polite, still attentive enough that he could see confusion and hesitation in someone's face. Thank god. And as Shiro insisted that he'd not bother Keith for too long, the vampire couldn't help the laugh. "I do not believe that is in your power to decide. I don't know when this stubborn weather will let up. I'm afraid you might have to tolerate this stay for a while." He shrugged, still careless in his manners. "I will leave you to your privacy now. You are free to explore." With a last smile, Keith turned to open the door, faced with a pitch black hallway. "Ah, feel free to light any candles." Keith himself did not need them, but this human certainly would. Finally, Keith disappeared into the darkness, off to his room to make himself more presentable. It had been so long since he had to do such a thing.

      (( okay, so, real quick regarding the mansion: Keith found the mansion when there was no one here, only recently abandoned. I suppose, it was some sort of mysterious disappearance as all the decor and supplies are still there and when keith found it, things were dusty but not wasted away at all. At most, all the food was gone, eaten by animals who got inside over time. And Keith loved to paint, so he actually made a self-portrait that's hanging in the entry hall over the staircase, which looks a bit like in the beauty and the beast movie! So, that portrait shows a younger keith xD and, like, i'd say there's still some old paintings keith made alongside paintings that were already there ))

Takashi Shirogane: Shiro stood and just folded the clothes over his arm, ignoring the question briefly and just shook his head with a smile as to indicate everything was alright. The clothes were nice, even if a little strange. “Thank you.” He said yet again while he watched the other walk out. He sighed, looking around in the dark room only illuminated by whatever light seeped through the rainy evening and through the window. The fireplace was struggling to keep up too as rain drops seemed to keep coming down into the chimney every so often getting the wood wet. “Strange...” he mumbled before he changed into the clothes. They all fit properly, not tattered at all. If anything they only smelled damp and stored. Which they probably had been for a long time. But now it was tome to leave the room, wander about the house. Which Shiro was slowly coming to realize was much larger than he anticipated. Large enough to host a large portrait on a staircase.

He took a bath like he hadn't done in a long while, the labor of filling the tub taxing and wearing down his nerves more than anything. He needed to eat something soon again. And with the storm, he couldn't go hunting. The crows were smart and his friends now, so he couldn't use them. But he had stored blood in the basement in the ice box there. But it took some time for Keith to finish bathing and dressing and grooming. It took him hours, spacing out a lot. Kosmo had decided to get into the water with him, so they had had some time spent there together, splashing around. But at last, Keith had braided his hair, brushed it, put on proper clothes. He almost felt less feral, more human now. It was strange how much of a difference it made. Finally, he started on his way to the basement. It was so normal to Keith that he forgot he had a guest. A guest who would likely be frightened by it.

Takashi Shirogane: Luckily Shiro wasn’t around the basement. He had wandered down there earlier and assumed all the casks were simply casks of wine. It made him think of an old short story he read some tome ago. But that story ends with aman being trapped inside a wall, so Shiro felt it wouldn’t be wise to stay down in the basement for too long and left back upstairs. The dining room was fairly large. It was to bad the thing was clearly out of use, all the table ware turned over upside down and coated in dust. At least it was usable. The head of the table seemed to be the only seat that was kept used, presumably by Keith.

He was /way/ too hungry to take his food upstairs to eat it there, so he just melted the blood in his palms before he went on to drink it, taking care not to spill any on his clean clothes now. Being a vampire had his ups, that was true. It seems that vampires all developed powers at some point, individual powers. Hypnosis was a more common one, although Keith had heard of vampires who could not only thrall humans for a short period of time but who could thrall animals and vampires and for several years and decades and maybe centuries if they so wished. There were vampires who could control elements or read minds. And Keith was one of those who could manipulate and create flames and heat. But, they were cursed to never feel the heat for themselves. Or be harmed by it. In a darker moment of his isolation, Keith remembered attemptint to set himself on fire. It was how he found out that he could walk through his own flames without harm.

      After throwing dried meat for Kosmo on the ground to eat, Keith left his companion to devour his lunch in peace. Soon enough, Keith found himself wandering the halls and crossing paths with his guest in the main hall. "You look like you've been exploring. I am glad you feel well enough to wander about."

Takashi Shirogane: Shiro turned at the voice, he smiled at the sight. “And you look like you fancy looking nice for company.” He pointed out, as he did indeed notice the other was much better groomed nke

Takashi Shirogane: Shiro turned at the voice, he smiled at the sight. “And you look like you fancy looking nice for company.” He pointed out, as he did indeed notice the other was much better groomed now than he had been earlier when they were seated at the guest room. “Your home is far too large for you alone— and your wolf.” He still hadn’t caught the poor thing’s name. “Has- has be gotten wet?” He asked, noticing the animal’s fur seemed wet and damp. Would be really strange to consider the animal going outside in this weather if he was truly so domestic. But then again he couldn’t think why else the wolf would be soaked.

He frowned and tugged some hair behind his ear with a huff. "Well, it has been a while since I've had any guests who cared about my appearance. At some point one simply stops caring." With a pout, Keith looked around. It was all so very dusty, he felt the urge to clean up. Looking up to the ceiling, he watched the bats hanging upside down from the chandelier. They were all awake at this time of night. Thus many flew away and came back. "Then again, it seems to me that you're not one to take much care of yourself, so I suppose I will not take your statement to heart, Mr. Shiro." For a moment Keith paused, looked down at Kosmo who was still damp despite having ruffled his fur to shake off most of the wet. "We've taken a bath. You should take one, too. I was about to ask if you were in need of a bath now that you can clearly stand by yourself. And you must be hungry, so I will try to make you something. I may be rusty, but I am still a good host." Keith had dried meat, still mushrooms left, herbs... yeah he'd try to whip something up.

Takashi Shirogane: “Oh-“ he mumbled. “Of course....” he’d try not to find it to strange that the other seemed to imply he’d taken a bath with the wolf. Truly an eccentric host he has. “Is really not necessary- but I appreciate the gesture all the same... and I think I will take you up on the offer for the bath.” Because as of now Shiro smells of rain water and a culmination of dust bunnies clamping onto his skin since last night. “I wouldn’t want to go around with a stench in your home.” That would be rude probably, far worse to smell than to be using the amenities of his host at free will, at least that was Shiro’s take on the matter.

As they made their way to the one bath of the house, Keith led the way in the darkness as he talked. "Trust me, Mr. Shiro, it is a better idea if I make you the food. You will not exactly find much that is edible here. And you'd probably better stay out of both the kitchen and the basement." Keith realised that he had a human here. SOmeone who likely did not believe vampires to exist or if he did, thought that they were cursed creatures of hell, the undead immerging from their graves. Keith had once believed it, too, until he had been turned into one. "I'll bring you clothes to the bath hall. Your own clothes were frozen to your skin to a point where I had to rip them. I'm afraid only really your jacket and shoes have survived the ordeal."

Takashi Shirogane: Shiro nodded, looking slightly disturbed by the details provided. He hadn’t thought the situation had been so bad. At least not bad enough that his clothes would freeze and be rendered unusable. “Well- again I need to thank you for allowing me inside and taking refuge...” he mumbled, walking with the other as he was instructed to the bath hall. Even the bath seemed grand and too large for a single person, even if it maybe was intended for one. It was strange. Either way, he went in to settle in for a bath, running the water and waiting still fully clothed for the other to bring along the clothes. After that he’d sit and wash, wondering mindlessly about his host. What was it that made him so odd. So eccentric... what made this house fit his profile too? Oddly enough?

lonely vampire Keith Kogane (Sheith, Vampire AU. Send x for long starter! ): Keith made an effort to find clothes that weren't dusty and full of spiders and dust. He eventually found a lot of clothes in a trunk that thankfull were more or less in Shiro's size it seemed. Perhaps they'd be a little tight across the chest, but, really, why in the heavens was he so muscular anyway? Nobles and the rich were not usually so bulky, only peasants were. So of course the clothes would not quite fit. These, though, were bigger all around. They might not fit Shiro's waist, but alas that was his problem now, not Keith's.

      After bringing the clothes, Keith left the man to his own devices, off to cook. And, wanting to proof that Keith /could/ be a good host, look presentable AND provide guests with good food, Keith went all out. He went outside to gather more mushrooms, found frozen vegetables in the garden. The potatoes and carrots were actually still good, sprouting wild. So, when Shiro was out of the bath, Keith had actually cleaned the table and set it. A plate with a pigeon from outside, which looked now like chicken. Beautifully served despite looking a little poor in Keith's ancient view. Keith still had some proper wine which he served for Shiro while Keith kept his own bottle of wine, mulled with animal blood. It made the taste a little less disgusting. Animal blood just made him feel queasy sometimes. It kept him alive and from going feral with hunger, but it didn't give him strength like human blood would do. In the end, animals were just a substitute.

      Sitting at the head of the table, Keith raised his glass to Shiro when the man came down the stairs. "I see you've arrived. Have you enjoyed the bath?"
