  2. wikiHow, the world’s largest how-to website, is on a mission to help every person on the planet learn how to do anything. wikiHow’s Engineering team is responsible for building the infrastructure platform to achieve this mission. We are looking for a Full Stack Engineer to join our four-person engineering team. With over 100 million wikiHow users, that’s more than 25 million users per engineer! Everything you build will make an immediate impact on millions of people. The Full Stack Engineer will be responsible for building functional systems to delight our readers and improve contributors’ experience. This is a full-time remote position based in the pacific time zone.

  5. What you’ll do:

Build user-facing features for our volunteer editing community that are fun enough to gather mass usage, while simultaneously making sure the output of the work produces high-quality educational information. It’s easy to get people to upload funny cat memes on the Web; the real challenge comes when you want them to create and curate the world’s best instructional content.
  8. Create features to bring in new content contributors, whether it’s on mobile, tablet, or desktop.
  9. Scale, scale, scale. We get more users before 10 AM than most start-ups will get in their entire existence.
  10. Work with data / Implement data collection. Lots of usage creates lots of data that we work with to further improve our products.
  11. Work with backends and databases. Implement features that store and work with data in a MySQL database.
  12. Front-end design implementation. Write HTML/CSS/Javascript while working with a Product Manager to implement a new design or augment an existing one.
  13. Security and scalability. Thoroughly understand web security and caching systems that contribute to scalability for any product that you ship.
  14. Delight readers. Better software means happier readers. We’re inventing new ways to make learning pleasant and more efficient.

  19. BSc in Computer Science, Engineering, or significant relevant field experience.
  20. Proven problem-solving ability, leadership, and communication skills.
  21. Experience building and changing full stack web applications.

  25. Experience with PHP, MySQL, modern Javascript, and HTML/CSS are required.
  26. Experience with MediaWiki, Linux, and iOS or Android development are a plus.
