Yvain second magic ring

Yvain goes to Laudine and says ‘Babe, I need to go knighting. There’s monsters to slay, knights to overturn, and glory to be had.” And Laudine goes “One year. If you are not back in ONE year, don’t come back. Here’s a magic ring of invincibility. It will make you as hard as iron.” Yvain grins and goes “You don’t need a ring to make me hard.” “I mean the rest of you, fool!” Laudine starts cracking up and touches his face. “I’m serious. One year. ONE.”

Yvain heads off and goes on a year’s worth of tournaments and fighting, winning every fight he gets into. But he’s not just a day late, but a MONTH late and when he’s getting ready to go home, a messenger shows up and finds Yvain. She marches up to this man and is all “Look, boy, you had A YEAR and you’re a month late. Laudine said give back the ring and don’t bother coming home.”
