Hospital check in

Alexithymiaa: -Steph sat in her wheelchair, her hands in her lap and still sort of giddy from their adventures at Warped Tour yesterday. She waited in the room the nurse had led her to, just sort of sitting patiently for the doctor to join them. She turned to look over at Felix, having difficulty sitting still all day. "I want to go through your pictures from yesterday. Did you upload them yet?"-
Covet: "No I haven't they're still on my SD card." Felix said happy that she was happy given her situaion and all. "I'm really glad you enjoyed yourself, and that you got to play on a warp stage, before it's all over." He said because even he knew how awesome that was.
Alexithymiaa: "I know!" She blurted out, her grin spreading across her face. "I can't believe they set that up. I was talking to Jack and he said they'd had it planned for months. Like, I know they're kind of goofy and ridiculous most of the time, but those guys are so thoughtful."-
Covet: "Well, I'm not sure if they would have done it without Cadence suggesting it. At least that's what Zack told me when I asked him about getting you around backstage. But yeah, still really cool.You looked awesome up there. " Felix said with a grin of his own.
Alexithymiaa: "I didnt even know Cadence set it up." She settled into a small smile in her chair, moving to tuck her hair behind her ear. "Thanks. It felt... really good. Even if I couldn't really perform much, it just felt awesome to be on a Warped Tour stage." She turned to look at the door when Dr. Greene came in, the smile slipping from her face. // Dr. Greene knocked and then pushed the door open, smiling at both of them. "How are you this evening?" He asked as he set her chart down, looking her over in the wheelchair. "How are we feeling after a week?"-
Covet: Felix's smile stayed as the doctor came in, "Well, we ended it on a high note, hopefully we can keep that going." He said staying positive for her.
Alexithymiaa: "Still pretty sore. And tired." She started, giving him a shrug. "It still hurts a lot." She pursed her lips, her eyes dropping down to the dressing on her right knee. // Dr. Greene crouched down in front of her, carefully taking her leg into his hands and beginning to undo the bandage, not wanting her to move from the wheelchair. "That's still expected. You're going to be in pain for a little while until your physical therapy builds up the muscle, which I want you to start doing some home exercises this week. Nothing that applies weight to the leg, and no lateral movements. We're going to start small and work up from there. I'm glad you're doing well though." He inspected her knee once the bandage was off, tipping his head to the side. "A little more swollen then I'd like at this point, but nothing to be concerned about. Just keep icing on and off until you're able to get that swelling down."-
Covet: "That's probably our fault, We kind of had a busy weekend. She wasn't on it at all, but we were out and about." Felix said openly admitting to as much. "We probably could have iced it more over the weekend too." he added. "What kind of exercises?"
Alexithymiaa: "To be fair, I've been essentially homebound all week. We only went out one day, and it was really important to me." She was trying to plead her case, but the doctor didnt care. He never said they couldnt go out, he just said stay off of it. // "That's fine, it's really nothing I'm worried about. It doesn't look infected and it seems to be healing nicely along the stitches, which you'll start seeing will disappear over this week. From now on you can leave the bandage off unless you're going to be going somewhere that you feel would make it difficult keeping it clean, and then light dressing is okay. It's safe to get it wet at this point as well, just make sure it's completely dried before applying any kind of dressing to the area." He stood up, satisfied with his visual inspection of the knee. "The first exercise I want to start you on seems simple, but it might take a lot more out of you than you realize." He walked over to the bed, sitting down on the edge so his feet didnt touch the floor. "Just like this. Let your leg dangle at a ninety degree angle off the chair, couch, bed, whichever. And then you're going to swing it. Only back and forth, and not to the point where you feel you're lifting the weight of your leg. Just gentle and easy swing like this." He slowly kicked his leg back and forth like a child would, keeping the motion small.-
Covet: "Seems easy enough" Felix said with a nod of his head, happy to hear the doctor was pleased with where she was at with everything so far. "I can do them with you too if you want, Red" Felix told her with a smile.
Alexithymiaa: -She looked down at her knee, picking her leg up to ease off the leg rest of the chair so it would dangle before letting it swing gently, wincing a little. "Okay.. I can do this...." She spoke a little sharply because it was stiff and even that hurt at this point. "It's kind of pointless for you to do it." // Dr. Greene nodded, standing up from the bed. "A lot of patients feel early exercises are easiest with the use of a towel. If you wrap a towel around the arch of your foot and hold the ends, you can help control and guide your leg until it's more comfortable for you. Also if you have access to a pool, we recommend doing your physical therapy in the water."-
Covet: "It's not about it being pointless or not. It's about soilidarity, Red." Felix said rolling his eyes, "We have a pool, so that's defnitely doable, and will be nice to do during the summer anyways." He said with a grin.
Alexithymiaa: "Well then you're welcome to do toddler exercises with me." She said with a grin, being a smartass. // " Practicing flexing your foot is also a good one and a little more difficult than it sounds, but I want you to try."-
CovetCovet : "According to you I act like one all the time anyways, so I should be able to master them with ease." He said, shitting on himself some more for her, then watched her to see her flex her foot
Alexithymiaa: -She sneered at him, sticking her tongue out in his direction before redirecting her attention to the doctor. She gently pointed and flexed her toes, hissing sharply before shaking her head. "That hurts. A lot." // "It's supposed to hurt. Physical therapy is about pushing your body to rebuild what you've lost. This exercise pulls directly on those muscles here." He said, leaning over to run his index finger up her shin and toward her knee. "It's going to be painful, but I want you to work on it. Take breaks between each one if you have to, but it's a good strengthener."-
Covet: "I'll make sure she gets them in. How many are you wanting her to do each day?" Felix asked for reference.
Alexithymiaa: -She bit down on her lower lip, knowing that once Felix was on this, it was essentially over in the argument department. "It didn't hurt this much the last time I did physical therapy...." // "I'd like three sets of each exercise, with ten reps in each set. Spread them out throughout the day if you want to and that helps." He leaned back against the wall, sliding his hands into his pockets as he addressed Steph. "Your situation last time was very different than most. You continued your rigorous activity schedule almost until the day you had surgery last time. You kept your muscles working which despite being very harmful and can do even more damage, did stop the atrophy a considerable amount."-
Covet: "And this time was over scar tissue, and that always hurts worse and can take longer to heal from, because the tissue has to work that much harder to repair it's self." Felix said. "But you'll come back from it. It's just going to take time and patience."
Alexithymiaa: "Okay...." This was a pointless argument and she knew it so why continue. "Does that mean we're done here?" She asked, raising her brows. // Dr. Greene nodded, gesturing to Felix. "Exactly. It was also a little bit more of an invasive procedure due to the scar tissue. It's a number of contributing factors." He reached for Step's chart, jotting a few things down. "You are. I'm going to send a renewal script over to the pharmacy for your pain medication since it seems you still need it for the time being. Once you're a little further along we can start weening you off of it."-
Covet: "Sounds good, thanks Doc." He said with a nod, taking the script from him once he had it written out. "You itching to get back to the house already?" He asked her with a smile, "I was thinking we could maybe lounge in the pool and just kind of stare at the few stars we get to see."
Alexithymiaa: "Just sort of anxious to get out of this room..." She tried to mumble quietly so the doctor wouldn't hear her. Her mood perked up at the sound of Felix's suggestion. "That sounds really nice, actually." // Dr. Greene smiled to the two, turning for the door. "Just remember to keep it light and keep weight off that leg for the time being. We'll see you next week to check in again, and then set you up with a physical therapist." He spoke on his way out to them.-
Covet: "Thanks again Doc." Felix said then looked at her. "Well we've got the okay to hit up the pool, and I won't even make you do any other exercises tonight." He told her as he got up, "We can get this filled on our way home too?" He said flipping the perscription paper in his hand.
Alexithymiaa: "I don't know about the exercises...." She started, pushing her glasses up on her nose. "That second one... that one really really sucks."-
Covet: "I know, but the more you do it, the less it's going to suck. We'll take it slow, break it up through the day, doesn't matter if it takes you an hour to do ten. The point is that you get them done." He told her with a smile as he started to push her chair out of the exam room. "
Covet: */"
Alexithymiaa: "Yeah..." She mumbled, sinking down a bit in the chair as he pushed her. "I guess i just have to keep telling myself the sooner I get through it, the sooner I can walk for myself."-
Covet: "Yes, but also don't push yourself any further than you can take. Overdoing it at this point isn't going to get you there any faster, and could put you in an even worse situation. We'll wind up being the bionic couple." Felix said with a chuckle as he walked along with her out the door.
Alexithymiaa: "I was kind of under the impression we already sort of were. I mean... you're already Victor Stone. I just need to catch up." She smirked a little, tipping her head back so she could look up at him.-
Covet: "Yeah, well let's not think about that until that's our only option." Felix said then stopped, "Do you think Bryan will be pissed if you have to get a knee replacement, since you know... he couddn't keep his leg, but you can have a whole knee, no problem?" This ass.
Alexithymiaa: "I think the circumstances are a little different. People get knee replacements all the time. When he was in his accident, his entire leg was like... mangled. They'd have to of rebuilt it from basically nothing and a lot of his nerves and stuff were already dead. I don't think he remembers going through most of that, but I was in the hospital every single day, even before he woke up so I talked to the doctors about what was going on with him before he even knew. It's just.... it's like color correcting a picture as opposed to redoing an entire photoshoot."-
Covet: "Ah that makes sense when you put it like that." Felix said then smirked, " All of us would be bionic, we could have our own superhero team. We'd be inspirational as fuck." He said pleased with his dweeby revelation.
Alexithymiaa: "Or pathetic as fuck, depending on how you look at it." She said with a smirk, shifting in the chair uncomfortably. "I much preferred being a non-bionic super hero. My super powers were so much cooler then. At least I got to keep the costume?" She asked, finding a very small silverlining.-
Covet: "Hey, that's better than what most people get." He told her with a smirk then helped her get loaded up in the Rover so they could stop at the pharmacy and then head home to chill in the pool. I'm sorry , I'm wilting fast.
