[Yuri] The Last Night

The night before your last remaining final
The only thing holding you back from freedom
Well... you and everyone else on this campus...
You walk past tables packed to the brim with students
Slowly making your way towards that one hidden corner
A perfect place for actually getting work done

You finally reach the small quiet table
It's occupied...
A lone girl is silently studying a familiar text
Heh... You remember that course
Fun but challenging

The purple-haired girl peeks up from her book
"OH!.. Hello..."
A surprised voice... yet soothing and eloquent
She clearly wasn't expecting anyone to come
"I.. I didn't mean to hog the table!"
"You can sit here... That is if you want to..."
Her soft purple eyes awkwardly move away from yours
Her face flushes oh-so-slightly pink
Was it something you did...?

There's more than enough room for two
You give the girl a soft smile and slowly seat yourself
Normally you prefer to study alone
But having some quiet company can't hurt
"The name is Yuri by the way..."

The clock is nearing the midnight mark
Your textbook hasn't moved from the 15th page
"Studying" with "quiet" company indeed
It started as a simple comment on the course you've shared...
Now it's a full blown discussion on career goals
It's certainly nice to click well with someone
Despite managing to get almost no review in...

Her eyes... yearning and slightly contracted
You aren't sure how to respond...

Her face suddenly reddens like a ripe tomato
She tries to hide her blush behind her textbook
It she really that embarrassed?
She shouldn't feel bad, everyone has their quirks
You smile at her and assure her not to worry

Exhaustion is starting to show its ugly face
Not good considering you have 12 chapters to review...
Then again you have already learned this material
An excuse to be lazy but rest is important...
Giving in to your body's demands you lie your head on your book
Just for a minute...

Your table companion isn't faring much better
But it's not exhaustion that's distracting this girl
For some reason she keeps peeking at a sleepy someone
A dreamy look in her eyes...
A giddy smile on her lips...
"Sleep well... my future husband..."

The professor calls time
You sift through the booklet before handing it in
It's finally over
The anchor on your shoulders dissipates
Freedom.

Your new friend anxiously waits near the entrance
Those amethyst eyes fill with joy upon seeing you
"So... how was it?"
"Actually n.. never mind... I'm sure you did well!"
"I'm ready to go... If you still want to..."
Yuri is clearly anxious to get going
You did promise her ice cream after all
You both start making your way to the exit
Good-bye stuffy building

A frozen dessert cart
Simple in appearance but an appetizing sight
A place worthy of spoiling your diet
Your purple-haired companion seems to agree
"Mmmmm... this aroma..."
"I can practically taste the chocolate..."
"Triple no quadruple chocolate! mmmmmm..."
Looks like Yuri has entered her fantasy world
One day she will start floating through the air...
In the mean time you might as well look at the menu

'Looking to be dazzled by my amazing ice cream?'
A girl pops out from behind the cart
'What can I get for you cutie~?'
A flirtatious gaze emanates from her eyes
Seems like an effective marketing approach
In any case all you are focused on is your empty stomach
You begin ordering your vanilla cone
"Um... We aren't interested in your ice cream"

What in the world is she doing?

With a belly lacking ice cream you dejectedly leave the stand

This is the fifth time she's apologized to you
You already told her not to worry about it
But shouldn't she be apologizing to the ice cream girl?
You look up to the crying girl
Her deep purple eyes, puffy and red from tears
Her shirt, stained from the never-ending waterworks
Maybe it's not the best time to bring it up...

"I... I should have known she would have attacked you!"

Some alone time at your dorm will serve you well
You both have agreed to cool off and reconvene at night

You join Yuri on the small patch of grass
Lying down for the best possible view of the dotted sky

She can certainly say that again
This really is a nice way to end the semester

"I'm your girlfriend now..."

There's no expression on her face
She's completely deadpan...
Is she serious...?
"P.. Please... Don't overthink it"

You can't comprehend this situation

Without hesitation, you grab on to Yuri
Her hand really does feel nice
