  39. The Thinning is set in a not so distant future where Earth is becoming overpopulated and in order to control the population, students have to take a test and the ones that fail are euthanized. When two students Laina Michaels (Peyton List) and Blake Redding (Logan Paul) discover that the tests were rigged, they need to work together to fight the system so as to expose it and take it down.
  40. "The Thinning" takes place in a future plagued by overcrowding where population control is dictated by a high-school aptitude test. When two students (Logan Paul and Peyton List) discover the test is smoke and mirrors hiding a larger conspiracy, they must fight the system to expose it and take it down.
  41. From the off set you know the premise to the story is more than just a culling, or THINNING as they like to call it. You have the typical American kid revolting at his fathers status in society. You also have the quiet, lonely girl trying to keep her family together while supporting them through her mums illness.<br/><br/>You have the cyber wizard kid who could blow the plot apart if he used his hacking skills to gain access to the past tests. But no we have to have the candy girl genius take a stand and show what is wrong with the system and society. Whilst the Presidential candidate just covers his own ass which is pretty much like expected, you then have the golden boy who is about to take a stand n make the system rethink whether what is happening is true or something more corrupt then any one could ever imagine.<br/><br/>Be prepared for a few twists n turns in the story on this one, it is not brilliant though I did enjoy it, and would gladly see a follow up if they filmed one.<br/><br/>I can not help feeling this is Soylent Green meets Hungers Games but on a more realistic and thought provoking level.<br/><br/>From the first moment of the first second of the exam, to the final moment where exam failures are THINNED, you can not help but wonder if another twist is about to take shape around the next corner.
  42. Many of the complaints about this movie are based on the lack of realistic plot. However, I&#39;d argue that most people watching dystopian movies don&#39;t assume them to be the most realistic thing ever, and that doesn&#39;t detract from the value of the movie. <br/><br/>There are flawed moments for sure, it is definitely not one of the highest quality movies I&#39;ve ever seen. But I would still argue that it was a decent movie. I saw the trailer before a YouTube video, and went to hit the skip button but found I couldn&#39;t do it because my attention was caught. I watched the movie immediately and it definitely was not the highest quality movie, but it did really hold my attention because I was really anxious to find out the fates of all of the characters.<br/><br/>Realistic or not, it still held entertainment value. I&#39;d definitely watch a sequel.
