  1. The warrior-in-training paced around the shallow body of water located in Waterfall. She wasn't quite sure what she was feeling, her palms were sweaty, her soul beat faster, and she had this strange feeling in her stomach.
  2. All after she talked to THAT girl.
  3.
  4. Alphys, her name was. A cute little dinosaur looking creature, whose scales shone a golden toned glint. She was short, chubby, wore glasses, and was an absolute nerd.
  5. And Undyne really liked that.
  6. Though she didn't really understand half of what Alphys said when talking about theories of where the abyss led to, she thought that whatever she said was awesome. The way she spoke made science sound so much more... interesting.
  7.
  8. She simply liked everything about her, she was kind, sweet, likable...
  9. Undyne stopped in her tracks, coming to a frightening realization. The way she made her feel, she had described it much like the cliché of being in love.
  10.
  11. No way. Was she really? She can't have been. Hell, she wasn't even sure what it truly felt like. Clichés weren't a reliable source, she'd have to ask someone who had experience with the subject.
  12.
  13. So she made her way to the castle.
  14.
  15. She entered the house within the castle, quietly walking in to not cause disruption.
  16. "Asgoooore? Ya in here?"
  17.
  18. "Yes dear, in the kitchen."
  19.
  20. She nodded at no one in particular, proceeding into the kitchen. There, Asgore was attempting to recreate a certain pie yet again.
  21.
  22. "Any luck?" Undyne questioned when she saw the slight mess in the kitchen.
  23.
  24. Asgore sighed in defeat and removed his oven mitts. "Ah, no... Not today... How are you, though?" He changed the subject, looking down at her with a gentle smile.
  25.
  26. "Oh, I'm fine! I just uh, wanted to talk, ya know- Hang out, if you're not busy, obviously-"
  27.
  28. He smiled and nodded, beginning to clean some spilt batter on the counter. "Of course, let me just clean this first... In the meantime, may you please get started on a pot of tea?"
  29.
  30. "Aye aye captain!" She exclaimed as she retrieved a teapot from the cupboard.
  31.
  32. The mess was cleaned, and the tea was made. The two then sat at the dining table, Asgore pouring them each a cup of tea.
  33. "You seem to have something on your mind, care to spill?"
  34.
  35. "Jeez, I'm an open book. Am I that easy to read?" Undyne leaned on her hand and blew on her tea, watching it ripple. "But yeah, I guess so... I don't know. Can I ask you a random, weird question?"
  36.
  37. "Go right ahead." The king leaned on his paw in interest.
  38.
  39. "So uh, when did you... I mean like... how did... How'd you know you were uh- In love-? How'd you figure it out and- what'd you do when you did?"
  40.
  41. "Oh my, that is certainly a mouthful." He looked down at his tea. "Well... I just felt it. It was the way I felt when she looked at me, when she talked to me, when I was simply with her. Constant butterflies in my stomach, soul pounding when we touched... Mmm... Yes.. What I did?" He glanced up at Undyne, making sure she was still listening. She certainly was, and with great interest too.
  42. "Well, I uh..." He chuckled nervously. "If I am being completely honest, I didn't do anything... I uh... I was much too shy to initiate anything... She did it all, really..."
  43.
  44. Undyne smiled and snickered in amusement. "You're so you, Asgore."
  45.
  46. "I shall accept that as a compliment. Why did you ask though? That is an oddly... sappy question, coming from you..."
  47.
  48. "I was just curious-" She replied quickly.
  49.
  50. "You still are a bad liar, my dear." He smiled gently in amusement.
  51. His face suddenly fell into a pleasantly surprised facial expression.
  52. "Oh my lord, so that's what it is..."
  53.
  54. "Huh-? What are you talking about?"
  55.
  56. "You're in love! Aren't you?" He said excitedly, his eyes shone with pride.
  57.
  58. "How'd you jump to that conclusion?! I—"
  59.
  60. "Oh Undyne, as you said, you are as easy to read as an open book. No need to lie to your old man!" He chuckled, smiling at her with that smile. That smile anyone could confide in.
  61.
  62. She inhaled, cheeks stained a soft peach color. "Okay. Fine. Maybe... I- I'm not really sure- that's why I asked-"
  63.
  64. Asgore gasped excitedly and leaned in with interest. "Tell me, who is the lucky guy?"
  65.
  66. Undyne paused for a moment, suddenly regretting saying anything. "Oh, uh, no, it's uh... it's....... It's not a he—"
  67. She looked downwards quickly, visibly nervous at what she said.
  68.
  69. Asgore blinked and simply started chuckling. "Ah, yes, I suspected."
  70.
  71. The smaller figure's head looked up at him once again, slightly bewildered. "What? Really? How???"
  72.
  73. "Oh I don't quite know... I simply always had this feeling."
  74.
  75. "...And you... don't mind?" She mumbled.
  76.
  77. "Mind what? That? Of course not! Why would I mind such a silly thing?"
  78.
  79. "I uh..... I.....don't know....." She trailed off, her anxious frown curled into a relieved smile.
  80.
  81. Asgore rolled his eyes in amusement, he stood and walked over to where she sat, pulling her into a warm and gentle hug.
  82. "Your preferences don't change who you are... You know I'll love you no matter what."
  83.
  84. Undyne leaned her head against his chest in comfort, she sighed. "I know, I know... Don't get TOO sappy-"
  85.
  86. "Too late." He smiled sweetly down at her.
  87.
  88. "You're a goddamn dork, dad."
  89.
  90. "Well now, aren't you going to tell me about this girl? I still want to know." He smiled a proud smile.
